I pre-ordered it from roush when they released it a few weeks before, installation was pretty easy, though the instructions provided have a few things needs tweaking, things like they totally used the wrong picture to point out which clips on the sensor line needs to be removed to make it reachable to the new location. Also, I suggest anyone who's planning on eventually selling the car leave the engine cover off, since I heard that part is not cheap, it also looks better without the cover imo :D.

Bill, great videos for us weekend mechanics. Noticed you don't use fender protectors, wouldn't this be an opportunity to show and market another product while protecting the car?
Is there a trim piece that could go over the cut edge on the cover, that looks a little Mickey moused to me. Doing a hatchet job to the cover of my $50000.00 car seems unlikely. Other than that it looks great.
@@techmaster777 It takes sound from the stock intake into the dash/cabin. Exhaust sounds are more throughout the car. Just installed this in my 21 mustang and it feels like it loss a little bit of power not as responsive as before not sure why? Should I get a tune for it ?
Standard one’s really good one. To make it better you can’t just add more air. Remove filter = another extra air portion but it propably will effect cel. Standard ecu maps can’t adjust so much - you need to buy ready tune from roush or go for a dyno and have individual tune done. A lot of air in n/a in low rpm isn’t something that makes engine „stronger”. Look at BMW intakes - they’re best one you can imagine for a daily coz they have disa valves that change intake lenght (intake’s not moving - it changes air routes inside it) coz in low/mid rpm it’s better to have longer intake (slower air supplying). Car that makes great hp/torque in high rpm but in low/mid goes like shit makes overall shitty expierence in a daily use. Same with your car - adding extra 10hp and some torque in 6500 rpm but losing 20hp and a torque in 2000 rpm makes overall experience that car’s slower.
Not if you keep the sleeve insert. If you remove the insert than more air would come into the engine and you will get a check engine light. The only time to remove the insert is when you get a tune
Mr. Bill hav a question does the assembly connecting to the inlet pipe need to be air tight thur the dox. Just checked the Roush site on this part and it does not list any Horse Power gains at all. So you would be spending over 400 sucker bucks, for nothing but the Roush name. Just drop in a K&N filter and save yourselves 350 bucks, and you won't have to cut up the intake cover.
If I install the CAI with the insert and do an X pipe resonator delete, will this combo create an engine running lean ? Also sounds like a win-win if Ford will still back the warranty with them tuning. What you guy's think ?

Heat soak. Open air CAIs tend to heat soak from engine heat and the IATs tend to go up. You actually end up losing power cause the car will start to pull timing when the IATs are higher since the air won't be as dense.
I've seen reviews that if you dont tune it then the car loses power and wont run right..is that true? Or can I just install it and not worry about anything? Please get back asap! Thanks!!
Yes I did on mine remove the insert from the roush inlet tube I had the same issue it said powertrain failure so I put the factory back on everything was good so this time around I took the insert out works like a charm and no tune
Daniel Fuller there is gains I just installed it on the 18 mustang gt and you cold feel more response with it. I could imagine with the tuner is gonna be better.
how much tho cause for 10 hp its not worth it without a tune and by the time you buy a tune as well its going to be close to 900 bucks after all said and done you might as well save that money and use it on something thats giving more power!!!
that engine cover is so ugly. especially once you cut it. I took it right off. Ford had the right idea with the bullit. To go from the 13-14 and 15-17 engine cover to whatever that is, was a real misfire by Ford.

Man these videos are so helpful. I love this TH-cam channel 💯
I like that the 2018 kit is covered. Looks like the cover would fit a 2015-2017 Roush CAI kit, too.
Can't wait for my 2018 Mustang doing a lot of mods !
Did you install this and do you recommend? Heard they run hotter than stock closed box do you agree?

I think a dremel would make a better cut on the engine cover.
What does he mean you can remove the insert for custom tuning?
Installed, then just couple days later my check engine light is now, not sure if coincidence or has something to do with the cai
The template provided in the kit left alot to be desired after it was cut
Why is the 2015- 2017 version have an open box and the 2018 is closed.
Serious question what’s the point In buying this intake if it’s not tune does it make any difference in power or is it just for looks?
Is the cover over the airbox required? I personally don't like the look of it, but does it protect the intake from sucking in rain?
Will this intake void my factory warranty?
Only if you tune it.
If you tune it or if the manufacturer can prove that a problem was caused by the part otherwise no it wont

Lol just take off ur cover and get a strut tower brace

Glad it helped!
Bill great work. I'd just go without the cover though. It just looks too makeshift after getting cut.
I would agree it looks cleaner without it.
The template they give you cuts off too much material... better to custom cut it yourself for a better fit.

John Smith closed
Closed so you don’t soak up heat
You should install engine stut bar and bigger sway bars.

You can leave it if you want but it looks cleaner without it since it isn't doing anything.

I totally agree. Adding a CAI does not improve any gains. It's just for looks.

no computers reset required?
The Roush cold air kit requires no tuning, so no changes to the computer are required.
