I only wish I had seen this incredible video before I embarked on my 4k projector setup, reading countless complex articles and mostly trial-and-error! Thanks immensely !

i need help... want to set up a relatively high end 4k HDR projector home theater system.. the distance between the walls in the lounge is 17 feet... which projector and screen would you recommend+ media player (i will use this projector for gaming, movies, tv shows, everyday tv use)

Sony vw385es. If that's too expensive then the Sony vw285es. I would recommend either the nvidia shield pro or Apple tv.

Majestechs planning on getting the LG HU80KA ( thoughts ?) which can pair with sound bars via Bluetooth- would you recommend a sound bar or a surround sound system ? And what size screen would you recommend ? The distance from wall to wall in my lounge is 17.9 feet I’m confused between 120, 135, and 150 inches framed screen

I never like or subscribe to videos, they never seem concise enough to warrant it. You speak clearly, not too fast or slow, use appropriate imagery to describe everything well and are friendly in your demeanor which makes the confusion less daunting all without being needlessly comedic as other content creators try to do. All top info, no waffle and well packaged. Definitely warrants a like and subscribe. I look forward to watching your other content as this has really helped me in a few short minutes. Well done.

Your content is fantastic. Straight, clear and to the point. I have seen a bunch of videos on TH-cam where people rumble on an on, you instead cover the subject matter and explain what you set out to cover in each video. Subscribed.

@ 3:08, I learned this the hard way. In October, I bought my first 4K TV, which is a TCL 55p605 Of course, it has HDR. I bought some, cheap, WalMart-exclusive HDMI cables, called Blackweb. They were, like $12+. They WERE high-speed, 2.0 4K cables. Everything was fine, watching 4K content, UNTIL I bought an actual 4K Blu Ray player. The display showed good, but very dim. Also, when playing my PS4 Pro in HDR, the picture was bright, but the quality seemed, slightly grainy. I was puzzled. One day, I was searching on Best Buy's website, just browsing 4K movies. I saw some HDMI cables by Audioquest. I saw the cables were high in price. However, I saw on the top of the cable, 4+HDR. Saw many great ratings. I decided to buy one. I used it, when watching my 4K Blu-Ray player and noticed the display, was much brighter, clearer and had better sound. That made me realize, if you have a 4K TV with HDR, which many do not, you must have a 4K cable that SUPPORTS HDR.

BEWARE!!! 95% of sellers are advertising v2.0 HDMI cables and only selling v1.4 Cables!! They are both "High Speed" cables, but the v1.4 is only capable of speeds up to 10.2Gbps, whereas the v2.0 is capable of speeds up to 18Gbps!! Even the Amazon Basics v2.0 HDMI cables are being wrongly advertised.... I literally couldn't believe my eyes because a large company like Amazon should really get it's facts right!!!

KnuKonceptz is a reputable brand. Would this HDMI cable be true v2.0? www.knukonceptz.com/home-theater/dvi-hdmi-cables/sp/krystal-hdmi-20-certified-high-speed-hdmi-cable-with-ethernet-2-feet/

@@ArnoldGaming Hi, these cables seem a bit dodgy to be honest. The seller is first saying these cables are HDMI 2.0 compliant and is also saying they perform to 18Gbps speeds, but then lower down they are also saying the quality of the picture possible does not meet HDMI 2.0 18Gbps standards..... so it's unclear whether the seller of these cables just does not understand their own product... in which case I would avoid buying from them, or perhaps they are mis selling lower performance cables disguised as higher performance cables... in which case I would also avoid. Also this website they are selling on clearly says it is "Not Secure".... ok I would avoid buying these.

@@hdmi4khdr60hz4 Hmm that may be possible. But since I am in car audio knukonceptz is a reputable brand as they sell high quality RCA cables and speaker wire cables that are copper OFC but yea the HDMI seems a bit sketchy

I first learned about HDCP when I bought a projector and the HD-DVD add on for the Xbox 360. My first projector was an older Dell, and I had to buy a DVI to HDMI adapter, which was not compatible with playing HD-DVD's due to HDCP. I had to use component cables, which had no dependency on HDCP, to watch 1080P movies on my 360.

Majestechs, Your videos are strait to the point , clear and concise - exactly what a guy like me wants. Keep the great and informative videos coming. We NEED you to help us keep up to date on the constant changes in video, audio and all the technology that links (or doesn’t link) everything together. I also love your recommendations on complete system setups at different price points. My dream system would be a professionally done (by you) TV room - unlimited budget. My more realistic dream system (and wife 𝘼𝙥𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙙) would be a 65-75in 4K TV that supports all the latest tech and variations (ARC, Atmos, Dolby X, HDPC2, etc..), outstanding audio with ceiling mounted speakers and something to tie everything together to make it easy to use everyday by everybody......I watching all your videos for that expert advice and education.

Thanks for a very well done presentation on the topic. Even as a very technical guy, this was just not an area where I had training or expertise so, even 6 years on, your video is a great way to get basic understanding of what all these acronyms mean and how they apply in our entertainment systems.

Well done Mr. Majestic, thank you. My only add is the fact some of the older 4K capable TV's may have a HDCP 2.2 input but it is not labeled. For my Samsung it was HDMI IN 3 (MHL). The others, HDMI IN 1 (STB), HDMI IN 2 (DVI), and HDMI 4 (ARC) were incompatible. This fact was hidden deep in the Owners Manual.

If it's 4k HDR then that's what it is to me, as long as it looks good in my eyes I'm satisfied. What is this world coming to if u have to by special HDMI cables just to watch and play your games properly

Everything else is new , Sony UBP -X1000 , SAMSUNG 8 SERIES UHD TV , Along with the klipsch speakers and sub . Geez-us!! I just bought a SONY XBR-A9G 65' HDR TV and I love this BEAST!! I watched some 8K and some 16K on TH-cam and it does a great job doing it's best to "Upscale" above and beyond the 4K. I don't know how close it get's but no matter what I am watching on this SONY it does impress. So I do have a question to you Chris..... I don't have the fastest speed for internet like other people do at 1Gbps or more. I just did a Speed Test and it is coming in at at 487.89Mbps download and upload is 23.61Mbps. I had to return my Google Wi-Fi Mesh because one of them was defective and Google was just going to send me a new one but they said that the all the numbers on the back "Does Not Exist" in our system which is B.S. because I bought the 3 Mesh system from Amazon and it was not a 3rd party. I've had it and Amazon being Amazon, they gave me a refund after 9 months of it working perfectly. I am going to try to get a Wi-Fi Range Extender for the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900. Sorry I didn't even ask my question(s). What HDMI should I use for this $4,000 TV?? I see that many people say that a $20 dollar one is just as good as a $279.00 gold plated crap and a lot of people just return their products after they see no difference then the ones that internet provider like Time Warner Cable/Spectrum or AT&T gives them during set up. I have very short cords and I believe they are 4 ft and 6ft is the longest cords I have in the house. Should I spend more money and get a better one?? Everything does look crystal clear on this particular TV set no doubt but how could it get any better?? LOL. My other question if you know this because this OLED is freaking me out and here's why. I live in California and we have fires every single year like clock work and Santa Ana winds which makes for our homes to be dust magnets. What do you suggest I clean the OLED TV with? What cloth? What spray? I for example clean my iPhone, iPad, iMac, Note 8, Note 10+ all with a soft cloth and rubbing alcohol because it gets finger prints on it on a consistent basis but the OLED is like I should just clean it with AIR. I don't want to even touch the thing because it's actually thinner than any of my phones and I don't want to break it even though someone at Best Buy told me these SONY are not as weak as people make it out to be because they have been around for a long time and that SONY buys their OLED screens from LG and then just put in their top notch chips and technology inside the unit, but to me the screen still is something that concerns me. I thought about what you said about 4K, a Blu-Ray player and I only have a Blu-Ray player and I have not bought any 4K UHD Blu-Ray player as of yet. So Chis, do you recommend a SONY, LG or Samsung 4K UHD player?? I am asking because you absolutely know what you are talking about and I wanted to make sure I do what you recommend as you seem like to know more than most people out there. Thank you in advance and I apologize for the very long post.

I have a question. If I install a HDMI Wall outlet. Would it affect the HDMI cables performance? It wouldn’t be a long distance problem. Since the tv and wall outlet are close together.
    Example.
Xbox One S -HDMI-> Wall HDMI Outlet -HDMI-> Wall HDMI Outlet -HDMI-> 4K TV
Assuming all these HDMI cables support 4K HDR
Would this many HDMI cables affect the performance?
If not, I’ll just drill a hole and use one cable to directly connect the devices through the wall.

Excellent information. Sounds like I need to stay away from 4k for a long time on projectors. From what I can tell, the 3D compatibles for a good price are mainly 1080p which is good enough for HD. And with the way you need compatible format or you might just end up with blank screen. Not worth the 4k experience. Until it is the NORM, no reason to 4k it. Thanks.

You might want to talk about setting the receivers to pass thru on the hdmi out. For example my Denon amp wants to upscale and correct even a 4k signal. This sometimes will mess with even active and fiber hdmi cables. You can buy a lot of good cables and it could something as stupid as adjusting the receiver to pass thru.

Thanks for quality information Chris. Had a doubt though.
If my soundbar setup supports Dolby Atmos while my TV does not have Dolby Atmos in it. And I connect the soundbar to TV via HDMI eARC (supported on both of them). Will I be able to experience true atmos?
    Thanks

HI 👋 Thanks for the explanation 😊
I've issues connecting my laptop with my old projector. The HDMI its just woking fine with my old desktop but unfortunately I unable to hook my new dell laptop to the same projector . Dell have advised its legacy compatibility issues where my old projector port is 1.0 and my new laptop port hdmi 2.0 . Please advise what can I do ? I belive its just plug and play with hdmi ports but really have problems with the connections now . Am I able to solve this by using other types of cable version ? Thanks

What about the variations within a line of 4K. I'm leaning toward the Samsung QLED because of the price points vs the Sony OLED. When I looked at the two of them, I could not discern a difference. However within the Samsung lineup, they have all sorts of different HDR engine to run the content.
Thanks for helping out us poor mortals that have to wade thru all this 4K techno stuff.

Hi! Awsome video! I'm beginning to set up a home theatre system and have some questions.
    Here's my setup:
Samsung TV from 2013, UE46F8005STXXE, HDCP version 1.2, I have an HDMI ARC port and I believe my TV can transfer Dolby digital signals (At least I can choose Dolby digital output in the sound output menu.
I want to get get Sonos 5:1 as my home theatre.
    1) I want to be able to watch movies, play video games with the highest resolution of 1080/HD, nothing more. Is it possible that I can do that with a surround sound 5:1. Will my HDCP 1.2 version be "sufficient" for that?
    2) Will it be possible to plug in my laptop to the TV and get 5:1 sound? Laptop is from 2014.

Does the the new Nano brand(specifically LG 75 inch) support the HDCP 2.2 ? And also, I would like to use my brand new Xbox One X console(which is the elite version)as my 4k Blue ray player, which has the 4k HDR stamp of approval, is that also HDCP 2.2 compatible and do you recommend using the elite Xbox One as the dvd player?...Thank you in advance

We just bought a 4k TV with fire tv built in to watch while on the treadmill. We are not hooking up to cable just using the fire tv apps. I know I can't achieve 4k over wifi. Our home has google fiber gigabit internet. I have an apple airport extreme router near the treadmill. Will I achieve 4k if I connect a 20 foot cat 5 or 6 cable from the tv to that router? Thanks for the video's.

Hi! Great video. Lots of really good information. I wonder why I am getting the hdcp error all of a sudden? Up until a few days ago everything was working fine up all of my devices were compliant with one another and then out of the clear blue sky this error start popping up???? I've tried putting it in different ports I've even tried switching out the cables with the cable from another that I have been using on another device in another room and even switched out two rokus; nothing's working. What do I do?

Nice, clear video! Can you help a brother out with setting up my modest home theater? Sony XBR55x930e, Yamaha Rxa 1070, Sony ubp-x800 4k player, Marantz DV 7600 DVD/CD/SACD. Fios for tv watching and a Logitech Harmony Ultimate One that I use only to turn on all of the aforementioned gear to watch a dvd or Blu Ray. Is “Arc” a necessity and why? Can I just plug my equipment into my receiver and plug my receiver into the “Arc” input of my Sony and be done? When I want to watch tv through my receiver using an optical and have the Fios on input 3 of my tv and have no issues?

Okay, I have a Ps4 slim and a Sony kd-55xd8505 TV. Will Enhanced HDMI format make the screen look better or should I just leave it on standard on the TV options? My TV support HDR even when this option is left on Standard format. So what gives the best picture quality?

Hi, I like your video, I need some help, it's for the TV, I did a lot of research. But didn't find any exact answer , question is
Can we get HDR 10+ or dolby vision with media box like shield tv or Google tv, or fire tv 4k. Using with low budget tv.
Without paying to much on higher budget tv. Like what I found on my research tv panal technology haven't change that much. Means why spend to much money on tv with to many on high end tv with feature that we can get from those android box

I have a question. Will a HDR TV also display HDR photos properly, with all the associated benefits? In other words, will a HDR TV recognize a photo, let's say on a USB stick, to be HDR the same way it can recognize a video to be HDR, and adjust how it displays said photo accordingly?

you explained everything i ever wanted to know about 4k and very precisely, thank you :) I do have a vizio 43" 4k with 60hz HDMI input that i bought in early 2016 i'm pretty sure its HDCP 2.2 and a Denon with 4k passthrough but wondering if i buy a ps4 PRO that it would allow for everything to work. Vizio i know hasn t put out a HDR firmware update and im tired of upgrading equipment.

Need a deep dive into playing 4K on PC. It is still unclear if new AMD Ryzen will be able to play it. Some people say that only GPU matters, but decryption should be done >securely< in CPU as well.

    • @ChrisMajestic
      @ChrisMajestic  7 ปีที่แล้ว

Alexander Bourdonov yes nearly all modern GPUs can handle 4k video. Even onboard graphics chips can do 4k. However, 4k gaming requires a very powerful graphics card

One thing that isn't clear to me yet: If I have a 4K TV and a HDR cable, this cable will work in a standard blu ray player? If yes, I'll don't have a 4k image, but it will be better then in a standard full HD TV with HDMI cable?
