- ✏️ How I draw my illustrations with Procreate
Hi everyone!
In this step-by-step tutorial I show you how I usually draw in Procreate!
I recently had to work on this illustration for a Japanese catalog for illustrators named FOOD 2023 and I thought it would be a good idea to record my workflow.
This illustration is called "Breakfast" and I imagined a gorgeous autumn breakfast with bread, croissant, brioche, tea and coffee 😋
I hope this video will be helpful and please let a comment if you have any questions concerning this workflow, I'll be happy to help!

✨FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS✨
Hello to new subscribers and thank you so much for all the love! 💖
Here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions in the comments:
✏What brush do you use?
- For outlines, I use an orignal brush I customized myself. I took the classic pencil brush from Procreate and just changed the settings to my liking.
For color painting, I use the flat brush and the airbrush. For texture, I like to use the Hartz brush. (Those brushes are already included in Procreate)
✏What is your canvas resolution?
- The canvas resolution for this illustration is 2400 x 3400 400 dpi (I needed a canvas with a high resolution because this illustration was for publishing)
✏Do you use a screen protector?
- Yes, I use a paper-feel screen protector.
✏Please make more tutorials!
- Thank you for all your requests, I’m super slow but I’m working on it 🥹🫶

@@oceanenae hi, i tried to redraw by watching your tutorial last month. I was really impressed. Never thought I could try this.
I hope you could teach us more. I'm literally waiting for your tutorial. Thank you.
Would you mind posting a short of the line art brush you used ? I’m in love with it and I’m sorta new to procreate and dk how to really use the settings properly? If it’s not too much to ask !! Love the drawing SMMM btw !!❤
Hi, thank you for your message and sorry for the late reply! Actually a few people have asked for the brush settings and I don’t remember exactly how I did it 💦 I plan on doing a bit of research and make another video on how to customize brushes! Then I’ll see if I can make a short out of it ☺️
I'm happy that I've discovered your channel! How many hours does it usually take when you create art like this?
Thank you so much!
It depends on how many elements I want to include in the illustration but this one took around 8 hours
Loved your video, even your music choices were so much better than most I watch. Just overall pleasant to watch! Are you using an iPad Pro?
Thank you so much! Yes, I’m using an iPad Pro (11 inches)
It cute and I like you create video.
Thank you!
❤❤❤
I love your work! Can I ask what brush you used for this please
Thank you! It’s an original brush.
THANK YOU this rlly helped btw what is the brush that u used?
Thank you for watching! I used the basic procreate pencil brush and I modified a few parameters in the pencil panel to have smoother edges.
This is so beautiful! Love every single step - and learnt nicer ways to incorporate - could you please share what’s the screen size you’re using? I always get stuck there. I see you’ve zoomed in so much and yet it doesn’t pixelate!
Thank you so much and sorry for the late reply! I used a 2400 x 3400 px 400 dpi for this illustration. This illustration was made for a magazine and the publisher required at least 300 dpi.
Which brush did you use for sketching ?
I just adore this drawing , and i love how you explain in. I really like the brush you use for outline, and tried to make some changes for the pencil, but it doesn’t look good. Is there any change you can share the exact pencil and what you changed it to? 🙏🏻
Thank you so much! ❤️
I don’t remember exactly what parameters I changed but I plan on doing a bit of research to remake this brush and do another tutorial video just for brushes!
That sounds awesome. I am already following you so i will be keeping an eye out for when the video comes out. Thank you so much for sharing

This is so helpfull!💗 If you don’t mind me asking, what brushes do you use?☀️
Thank you for watching! 💖
For the outline I’m using a brush I customized myself but I mainly use the flat brush for color and the hartz brush for texture! (Those are brushes already included in Procreate)
id love to know what brushes you use!
Thank you for watching! It’s an original brush I customized myself.
What was your file size and dpi? Mine don’t zoom this much and be this crisp.. love your work❤
Thank you!! 💖 For this illustration I used a 2400 x 3400 px 400 dpi canvas!
damn i wished i could draw like that.
I know the feeling! That’s what I thought when I first started illustration and saw other artists making beautiful artwork. It’s sometimes a bit difficult at first but if you want to draw, please follow your heart and don’t give up!
what brush did you use for sketching the latte art :O
I used the basic Procreate pencil brush!
I modified the brush parameters to make it thicker and smoother.
@@oceanenae Oh! I remember you mentioning that in the video, wasn’t sure if that was the same brush. ty for clarifying :>
Hello, my dear friend, you are doing a very beautiful and professional job. You deserve millions of subscribers. I learned a lot from you and I will be with you.❤ New friend here ❤️🌱🔔
Thank you so much for your very kind message 🥺❤️
New subscriber here!
Thank you! 💕
Hellooo, you are great, I like your drawings very much. but you didn't write the name of your brushes, which ones did you use? I wish you could make a more detailed video❤
Hi, thank you so much and sorry for the late reply! I use an original brush but I plan on making a tutorial video about brush settings!
i have a question. i am using sketchbook app to draw. what is the pen that you are using to draw with?
I’m using an Apple Pencil. In Procreate, I’m using a brush I customized myself.
What size canvas do you use?
For this illustration I used a A4 size (3508 x 2480 px - 300 dpi)
What brush do you use?
It’s an original brush!
Do u use some paper like screen protector?
Yes, I use a paper-feel screen protector
How do you remove the glare when you are recording your iPad? Your screen does not reflect anything how do you do that
I put a paper like anti-reflective protection film on my screen! I also close curtains when I film and play with camera angles.
But how do you ‘at first draw loose sketches’?
I just try to draw what I imagine in my head but very loosely (without drawing too many details at first).
It’s a bit difficult but it becomes easier with practice. I would recommend trying to draw your composition on paper first if it’s too difficult for you to work on your tablet!
What brush?
For the outlines, I use a brush I customized myself
you could add AI voice so no need any text :X
It's her video, her own style
No talking makes this a dud of a video for me. I’m dyslexic and trying to figure it out is too difficult without speech.
Hi, thank you for your feedback. I’m sorry this video wasn’t helpful to you.
My native language isn’t English and it’s a bit difficult for me to talk smoothly. As there are already many tutorial videos with speech, I also wanted to make a visually appealing video (without speech) for people whose native language isn’t English like me and for people with hearing impairment.
However, I want my videos to be accessible to as many people as possible and I’ll consider adding speech to my future tutorials.
this is so cute, oh my goodness 🥹 had to subscribe after this!! 🫶
Thank you so much! ❤️
I am so lucky to find your channel, thank you for the thorough explanation, even the brush😭🫶🏻🫶🏻
Thank you so much for watching 🥺🫶
