  • In this video I'm using some watercolor brushes and a paper texture. These are products that let you paint in a watercolor style in Procreate and I sell them on my Etsy shop to support the channel:
    - Regular watercolor kit with the brushes (it's called the 'Amazing watercolor painting kit'):
    drifterstudio....
    - Blacksands Paper Texture:

    👉🏼 ABOUT THIS VIDEO
In this video I show you a fast and beginner friendly watercolor technique for painting all the ramen from your wildest barbecue-pork salted-egg dreams 😳
This is basically a way to paint watercolor ramen in procreate without dealing with too many layers or advanced techniques. I think painting food is a great exercise for all artist and I hope you enjoy the method I used in this video.
How do you paint watercolor in procreate?
By combining some special brushes and a watercolor paper texture, we can paint in this watercolor style. All the Procreate watercolor brushes, textures, and materials are linked above. They all come with video instruction on how to use them, so it's something you can use even if you are totally new to Procreate.

    👉🏼 PRINT YOUR ARTWORK:
    Here's the printer I use:
amzn.to/3q2mKk7 (This is an Affiliate link for Amazon.com)
I prefer this one because it's just so easy to get amazing colors and rich, textured shading. This printer is not suitable for printing tiny stuff, like postage stamp size, because it's only going to do 150dpi. That's good enough for a greeting card or anything larger (I prefer to print larger stuff anyways).

    Here's the jazz I used:
Thank to Artlist I can use a slightly edited version of Yestalgia
I also added some cafe background-bustle SFX behind the track.

I just came back from Japan where I had many bowls for lunch during the trip.
Can’t wait to draw the ramen bowls after watching the video.
Many thanks from sharing. That helps me much where to start the process.🍜🍙🍱🍘

I tried painting the ramen bowl already and found that almost every stroke I made were kinda transparent and very light color (not like yours in the Vedic which look so bright and strong colors)
I’m not sure that if it depends on how I press the brush or any other mistake.
      Please advise.
(I use Drifters studio Watercolor brush set )

Great video, Calvin. Thanks as always. Oh, I tell people about you in my art community. They don’t have many water color resources and you are the best.

Thank you very much for the tutorial calvin😊, could you make one on how to paint a scene with a character and a complex background?, sometimes I find it difficult to use these brushes for something like that 😢

Thank you so much☺️☺️ I try to avoid super long videos these days, but I can offer some suggestions. Complex scenes may look spontaneous but they are meticulously sketched, planned, and often painted several times over. If you can paint from a photograph you'll find it's much easier, but painting complex scenes without much planning is a very difficult thing that will come eventually but it takes thousands of hours of practice. It's really fascinating to see manga artists and their workflow. I think it's really important to understand color theory and also how to paint the suggestion of detail.

thank you for your videos! your brushes are my fave ❤ i do have a question - is there anyway to make the background of the illustrations transparent without taking away the watercolor feel? I know the paper background really nails the watercolor aspect… would a clipping mask work? not sure if you have any idea but thank you!!

Hi Calvin, when I try to merge the layers with watercolor texture layers, it becomes weird - dark or whatever else. Is there a secret to merging it? Thank you!

    • @calvinatdrifterstudio8438
      @calvinatdrifterstudio8438  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi! You have to export the whole canvas as a png. When you just merge layers together it changes the transparency modes and creates some issues with the alpha channel and certain bland modes 🙏

What did you do to your hard edge round, mine looks nothing like yours

This brush has been updated and I think you might have the older version. You can message me on Etsy and I will send you the latest version of everything :) I try not to change anything really noticeable and focus on bugs, but the hard edge round has been a mess since procreate 5.x and I finally got it working properly in the latest version.
