BRACES: 7 TEETH KNOCKED OUT IN CRASH | Face trauma during jaw surgery pre-op

- This is the story of when I was involved in a bicycle crash and knocked out 7 of my front teeth.
Unfortunately I was also in the middle of jaw surgery pre-op and I had braces fitted the year previously and my teeth were perfectly straight! I was very upset that my jaw surgery might be cancelled because of the accident. However braces actually ended up saving my teeth from being knocked out fully. This happened 1 year after I began braces treatment, and 2 years before the actual jaw surgery.
I’ve tried searching several times for information on other peoples’ experiences of teeth trauma or injury during braces treatment but could never find anything, so I decided to make this video.
I was given excellent care from Eastman Dental Hospital as well as University College Hospital A&E, for which I am eternally grateful.

I went through a similar thing 3 weeks ago where I won a header in football and when I was falling another player accidentally jumped into my teeth, knocking 1 of my front top teeth out and many teeth around it where moved. Everything you said in your story was so similar even the massive wait and the pain of them punching them back in. I hope your doing well
I just had a major fall with trauma to my bottom lip, chin and front top and bottom teeth. This gives me hope that my teeth can look normal again.
When will people realize that "Bicycle" Helmets afford very little real protection. My buddy is a Dentist and makes a fortune off people doing face plants, and saying "but I was wearing a Helmet" No you were wear a tiny piece of foam that provides NO Protection to your face. We wear proper Full Face MX Motorcycle Helmets when we ride and don't care what people think.
Yes I managed to convince several dentists in the hospital to wear gum shields when cycling!
I think full face helmets are probably appropriate these days but kind of menacing looking.

I was in an accident with braces too and two of mine got pulled down, they never pushed them back up though, just splinted them and let them heal. It was a life changing experience, I spent all this time and money on my braces, and I feel my teeth will never be the same. Unfortunately my two teeth did end up dying and I needed root canals as well, my gum line is uneven, and my teeth have turned yellow. 👎 I still have braces, and I'm most likely going to get some cosmetic work done after.
Sorry to hear you had a rough time, I would've been upset if they didn't push my teeth back into place. I feel quite lucky that I was seen by an endodontist straight away, I'm surprised you didn't get seen? I think my teeth will eventually die but I'm prepared for this happening in the future.
I was down at school court and my 3 teeth pulled out and dentist did root canal and I'm still waiting them to be fine.
How long did it last that you were allowed to get your teeth back to moving? I knocked out my front teeth with braces on, I think they saved my teeth, bacause it did not even fall out, doctor just pushed my tooth back, I am waiting what to do. No one can really say if my tooth will survive or not (a few dentist looked at my teeth, all of them gave me different opinion). I am really sad about everything, but I really hope my tooth will be ok. Your injury was much worse, I am happy that everything turned out ok for your, and thank you for giving me hope, that maybe my tooth will be ok. Just a quick question: How many of your teeth survived?
For all people who say: Oh you needed to be more carful, you needed to wear a hamlet. You never know what happens to you. I scared my self of a bird, who flew into my front wheel of the bike. Some situations can be really funny and unpredictable, so I really don’t get people who have something to say about your injury. Believe me or not, it is hard to stand in shoes of someone who had to go through this and believe me, no one wants to be in the same situation. You never know when unluck hits you, so better be nice and silence about being careful... everyone tried to be, but some things came out of nowhere.
So they waited around 11 months before we started teeth movement - my orthrodontist said that it was important to give the teeth the opportunity to re-attach to the jaw bone, before doing any movement work. It was very frustrating as the teeth were all fine and solid after a few months, but the orthrodontist was taking a lot of precautions which was very fair.
I'm glad my video helped - I couldn't find any other videos like this on TH-cam so I made this one. I think my tooth damage is probably on the extreme side so I'm glad I can help you by showing that even if you had a really bad injury, the recovery can be fine if you have intervention from a good dentist.
Damn haha i knocked 7 of my bottom I crashed my dirt bike riding at night woke up two days later with a swollen ass face and 6 teeth left on my bottom jaw they didn’t save none for me

All good now :) teeth roots are dead and a bit of discolouration but teeth and smile are good!
