    Love this apartment. Go past it all the time on the bus. The only thing I would change is the bathroom. That tile is hideous. The shallow cupboard in the kitchen probably once held a pull-down ironing board. I still have one in my apartment. Too bad there's no elevator, which is probably why the price isn't higher. By the way, the water is more than "a few blocks away" but it's a quick trip by bus or cable car.

    • @tonyknott17
      @tonyknott17  ปีที่แล้ว

      @kirahastings9900 - thanks for commenting! Many people came to see this unit when it was on the market, because they always admired the building’s exterior. I agree about the cupboard and yes, the tile seems out of place for this aesthetic.

    I live in NYC. This apartment resembles many pre-war NYC apartments. It is rare to find architecture and original cabinetry. If this is a co-op/condo, what restrictions/limitations are there? During the tour, I was renovating in my head. In NY, everything must be co-op/condo board approved to make sure you are not changing the structure of the building.

    • @tonyknott17
      @tonyknott17  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi @jkhegarty857 - thanks for your comment. You’re right, this is a condo. Similar to in NY, any modifications to the structure must be approved by the HOA. Every HOA is different, with some more amenable to changes than others. This unit is a good example of this; it may be hard to tell from the video, but it appeared that the bathroom had another door that led to the hallway, which was at some point sealed off. There’s another unit in this building that remodeled the large hallway closet into a half bath as well.

    • @jkhegarty857
      @jkhegarty857 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @tonyknott17 Hi Tony!! 👋 Thank you very much for your updates and info. In regards to the bathroom with a hallway entrance & not the bedroom, that was EXACTLY the reno I was visualizing. Also, the kitchen layout is a little small. I was visualizing that little nook/pantry by extending it into more of the kitchen layout. But then again, there goes that unique "original" cabinetry that offers so much charm. Just dreaming. I, live in a prewar co-op. Reno'd my kitchen & BR. Broke my heart to tear away the original charm, but the rooms are updated & offer a fresh look. All the best!! 😊

    I want an equivalent pied-a-terre in Paris that will remind me of San Francisco!! I want a view of Notre Dame or Sacre Coeur that will remind me of either the old or new St. Mary's Cathedrals! ;-) Really a nice space but a little tight in some of the rooms. How do they move a new fridge or piano into the 5th floor?

    • @tonyknott17
      @tonyknott17  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @mylesgarcia4625 - thanks for your comment and what a great perspective! You’re right, this space isn’t huge. The hallways and stairwell are quite wide, however, so you could most likely get a refrigerator up there. A piano is a different story though…

      @tonyknott17  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi @jlasf. You're right, I should have taken more exterior shots of this building, as many people comment on it, and it is beautiful. The property probably would have sold much sooner if there was an elevator. Thanks for commenting!

      Hi @jessiejoseph1093. Thanks for commenting. For those walk-through closets in small spaces, it's common for them to be open like this property. Someone could conceivably install sliding doors in there if they were so inclined.

    Stunningly beautiful, but Grace Cathedral's bells toll every hour on the hour. I can't imagine the bedroom being right across the street and trying to get some sleep.

    • @alisons9740
      @alisons9740 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Bells only ring from 9am-6pm. Most people wouldn’t be home, let alone sleeping. I live nearby and enjoy the sound of the cable car, carillon, and ship fog horns at night. It’s part of the “only in SF” charm and why I moved here, but it’s not for everyone.

    • @tonyknott17
      @tonyknott17  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi @pwp8737 - Grace Cathedral bells don't go all night; I believe the ring from 9am-6pm. I used to live a block away on California St. and what you notice more often at night when it's quiet is the cable car. However, it soon becomes "background" noise IMO, and actually adds to the charm of living on Nob Hill. Thanks for commenting!

    ….why did the Owner move out would be my question? It’s lovely, but the city isn’t lovely anymore. I really feel it’s our Johannesburg, SA after Aparthied. It’s an unlivable city with crime everywhere. I don’t SF coming back. ………but you’re not in Europe, and Europe isn’t the picture of tranquility either….

    • @tonyknott17
      @tonyknott17  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Belladvid1000, thanks for your comment. The owners are moving to Marin (just across the Golden Gate Bridge), as they've outgrown the space. I would disagree about San Francisco, however. I hear this type of comment often, and frankly much of it is driven by the mass media. San Francisco certainly has its issues, but nothing like the crime-infested wasteland that it's been unfairly portrayed as. I've been to Johannesburg and Cape Town, SA - following Apartheid - and I can tell you it's absolutely nothing like that.

    • @GloriaJudd66
      @GloriaJudd66 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I live in San Francisco and have for 50 years. The downtown Union Square area has been ravaged and the media focuses their attention on that area of the city. The neighborhoods are intact and vibrant. I happened upon this open house by accident. I parked and was walking to the Fairmont for lunch. This condo is to die for. If I were younger I would not hesitant a second to buy this property. Personally, I think it is underpriced. It is spacious, it is elegant, the view is fabulous, and it does have a Parisian vibe, which I love.
