You don't know what the hell he's going to say but you will laugh when you hear it, laughing is a reflex that you can't always hold back. And once you see the humor of it, you're a little less dominated by the tragedy of it. The purpose of comic relief.

And clearly loses it in Fire at the Maternity Ward, during the murder-suicide part. He blurts a laughter in the middle of his sentence, with audience cheering and everything, but he put himself together very quickly. Well done !
Anthony has such a strong turnaround on his jokes and such unexpected punchlines that he gets away with the little amount of energy he uses. His calm demeanor really drives home most of his jokes, but i do wonder what he'd be like if he had a tinge of energy behind his standup.

My absolute favorite is the Eric Clapton joke. It really is a layered joke and so bad, my mom always cried about that song and I made her hear the joke and she absolutely loved it. I miss my mom so much and showing her comedians. I didn't think the crowd was good enough for Anthony in the special with the beard, they were nowhere near as good as the clean shaven crowd lmao
