One of the things I love about Bill Burr is how he’s so self-aware and honest. I like how in retrospect, he knew he was wrong and foolish for making that statement and can make it be humorous even with the real world implications.
How is he wrong and foolish? How come everyone else's contributions to the world belong to their race, and using them is appropriation, but white contributions to the world belong to everybody?
I saw Gary live at the Tom Joyner Family Reunion two years in a row in '08 & '09 when I was a kid and laughed but the way his material revolved entirely around having a black wife and black kids kinda got old

@@setokaiba7204 true as hell. They are untouchable because of their ability to deliver precisely and work the crowd. You guys seem to be missing that Clark Potter was roasting OP for categorizing things in this way: material, timing, and delivery. Could've just said a blend of material and delivery.
I love Bill's comedy. He's always in a tug of war with the audience. Just when they think he's gone too far, he lets go of the rope and lets them think they're winning. Then he yanks the rope just to let them realize he's still got the upper hand. What I love about this is that he knows it's a game and he wants you to know that too, as opposed to some comedians who want to offend and rarely show their hand.
For real! I used to be hopped up on Louis C.K. like these other guys, but he fell off pretty fast for me. Burr and Chappelle just keep getting better.. and better.. more refined, more precise punchlines, they're aging like fine wine.
But..... "I should have stopped there" how many times were these words spoke out loud or just ran through your mind....... like I knew this was a bad idea before I did it.

Elvis gave lots of shout-outs to black artists. Even later in his career, after the terrible movies, he was at a press conference and someone referred to him as the King of Rock and Roll. Elvis said, "I'm not the King - he is" and pointed to Fats Domino, who was also in the room.

Bill Burr just keeps getting better and better and I've watched him over the past 12 years or so and he's in his prime as a comedian. I'm glad he's achieving the well earned success he's hopefully enjoying. He's got his joke delivery and timing down to a science, that all top level, talented comedians have.
@Sky Gardener I won't say he's getting stale. He's been getting attacked by cancel culture and he keeps having to address it. That's why he's taking a break. They attacked Bill too
@@RTDavis0503 stale is one word for it. I think he's getting to the same point George Carlin was - his later standups were more "making points" rather than "be funny". Now it doesn't matter if I agree with Chappelle's or Carlin's points, but I think it's kind of obvious that being funny was second to expressing their viewpoints by their latest (well, for the moment for Chappelle at least) specials.
That's how you know it is an exaggeration for comedic effect. No sane man would bother listening to his wife for an extended period, particularly if she is married to you and whines about imaginary offenses like cultural appropriation.
Men and women shouldn't watch TV shows together. It's led to so many fights you'd be right in suspecting that a lot of the shows are designed to do exactly that.
The way that Bill said “he died alone on a toilet” makes it sound like that was an epic way to die and THAT is the door he kicked open for us. Like everything else was just to get to that end 😅
The point was that Elvis made all the mistakes, so that everyone else could learn from them and not make the same mistakes. Not that Elvis' actions were condoned.
@@xzecOh I know. It’s just brilliant the way that Bill Burr comically made it sound like “yes you can die alone on a toilet like nothing is off limits now that we have see what extreme highs and crushing lows a human being can go through thanks to seeing the life and death of Elvis Presley”
"The down and dirty, daddy not sticking around, drug infested neighborhood blues... with the jesus-as-white-as-me hair-the-color-of-the-sun, angelic bluegrass playing music".
I’ve seen that documentary that Bill is talking about and I can honestly tell you Bill is adding more to it. The guy that discovered Elvis was Sam Phillips and he did say he wanted to find a white singer who could sing black because for years a lot of black singers he was recording never broke big. Once Elvis did black singers were starting to get accepted. Even Pat Boone was doing Little Richard songs and he was not a fan of his. He didn’t understand what Tutti Frutti meant!
I gotta tell you Bill, I'm a black wife, my husband is black. We are skilled and adept at giving black men headaches as much as we are with white men...In fact, we have kept Tylenol in business across every race for many years😉😁 Thanks for the much needed laughs!!!!🥰🥰🥰❤❤❤❤
This was THE joke from this special. He basically takes the first 10 minutes to try and offend everyone to blow their woke fuse, then goes on to do one of the most reflective, open, and progressive specials of the year. Dude is amazing. Wish they hadn't cut this video short. The joke went on and got better still.
Bill Burr's comedy, to me, rarely comes off as him trying to offend anyone. Because, yes, he's made a few jokes about black people, like here, but the punchlines themselves aren't about black people; the punchlines, the actual jokes, are about the ignorant perceptions of black people; not black people themselves.
Bill Burr is a true gem. I've been loving his comedy since I was a teenager and I'm always laughing at his jokes. I love how he speaks his mind. I'm picturing F is for Family in my head right now, haha. 6:06, lmao love it!!
When a friend of mine asked me how I can be attracted to and date “outside of my race”, I told her that one thing I’ve noticed is that they’re just men. No matter which country they’re from. No matter the race. All have different personalities and some cultural aspects may play a part, of course, but ultimately I’m dealing with the male perspective, not the race.
Cultural differences have as strong an affect on behavior as social class does. And good luck not being considered a trophy in the back of minds, or resented by others.
I agree with what he said. But you could make the same argument about films. White people invented the camera and started making films. Are Spike Lee and Sidney Poitier appropriating white culture?
Why do I get the feeling that if you asked Nia the person who actually created Rock and Roll she wouldn't have a clue? (It was Chuck Berry) She just seems like one of those people who doesn't actually know much because she relies on woke babble to win every argument she starts

One of his best bits ever, it's almost difficult to keep up with the jokes, they come so fast one after another. What a legend.
Burr and Chappelle are just another level. You can’t help but love them.

Still prefer Bill Burr tho:)
Bill Burr has a way of doing really smart comedy while making smart commentary and having very positive and progressive opinions on things and still being real and non-pandering, genuinely art. Really thoughtful shit and funny as hell.
Mostly smart commentary. Elvis said in interview after interview in the '50s that blacks invented rock and roll and he didn't.
Better than I could have said it. Thanks.
And will never accept credit for it. I listen to the Monday Morning Podcast he does and he constantly refers to his comedy style as telling dick and shit jokes when he's one of the more insightful entertainers out there.
If being authentic was a person.... this guy. Love him for that.

It's not weak to agree with the other person, and gives you more credit to being a thoughtful person.

One of the things I love about Bill Burr is how he’s so self-aware and honest. I like how in retrospect, he knew he was wrong and foolish for making that statement and can make it be humorous even with the real world implications.
