Oh wow! I am so excited to try this. This type of salvia is my favourite garden plant. I can’t tell you how much I have spent buying these over the years. Thank you!!
I need a potting house like you have. I bought a 4 shelf mini greenhouse off amazon and it has a zipper door on it. I have started some seeds and they are germinating. I plan on selling some because there are so many seeds in one package and my garden is small. I use the money I make on selling plants to buy more seeds and fertilizer. It's a win win :) I think I will try this method of propagating salvia, I had great success selling my iris and hostas after dividing them last year.
I hope it works for you. Some say tip cuttings are better but I have done it this way and had it work. I should do another and share how to do tip cuttings.
Great idea, never thought of that. Salvia is such a great prolific plant. I always wondered why you didn’t shoot your videos from above so we could see closer to what you are doing and just thought maybe the equipment needed was too expensive or wouldn’t work in your situation so was so surprised to see you do have it set up! Great view from above, please use it more! Thanks Pam, Brenda🇨🇦
I will certainly try and get better at the top view vids. It is an extra step and I need to get it right so you can actually see but I am working on it!
Hello there pam, very excited to watch again, such a wonderful idea,im going to share with my sister and my neighbour too.hope fully I can let her watch on my tablet definitely will have a go..thankyou. my I shall look forward to the lavender and rosemary I absolutely really love them, definitely 2 of my favourite plants, and so useful both smell lovely.hmmm!..I also think they look gorgeous in terracotta pots do you think so?...I will watch again shortly. Thankyou and take care. Love to your chickens too from me and mine too.xx
Thank you! I can't wait to get fruit and taste them. I have 4 varieties now scattered about my garden that fruit at different times so I can have a long harvest season and they all have a bit different flavor.
Hi Pam, I have been thinking about this very project, I just need to find a "mother" plant to cut from. I find propagating addictive, so hard to throw any cuttings away! I'm looking forward to an update of your delphinium seedlings, my first 2 have just popped up from my New Zealand order inspired by your video last month. Thank you for another great video!
This one was Mystic Spires but it works with most salvias. Many times it is recommended only to do tip cuttings but I have had it work for me this way.
Usually a few weeks. I took the cuttings the 15th of last month and I tugged on them yesterday and many had rooted and today is April 7th so that is about 3 weeks but give them up to 6 weeks.
Do you mean which ones can you propagate this way? I think it is all of them, but I found the tip cuttings work faster. I should redo this and explain that.

I wish you success. Saving $$$ while having beautiful plants is always a win!

Sounds great!
I bought a salvia today and my husband and I were just wondering if I could make cuttings. Great timing

I can't wait to try the lavender and rosemary again too. It should be fun. They will look wonderful in terra cotta pots!
Chandler strawberries do well in my zone 8b Charleston sc area. It can handle the humidity and heat. Love mine

I love this!!! Thankyou!!
You're so welcome!
Even the California native salvias are super easy to propagate.
Do you prefer tip cuttings over the stem cuttings? I have heard they work better but have yet to compare.

You are welcome. You just reminded me, I got another order in from them and I need to get those seeds planted!
Love it ❤❤
Thank you, I hope you found it helpful!
Great video! Will your cuttings flower this season?
Yes, they will.
What variety of salvia did you make the cuttings from?
This one was Mystic Spires but it works with most salvias. Many times it is recommended only to do tip cuttings but I have had it work for me this way.
Thank you for sharing! How long does it normally take for them to root?
Usually a few weeks. I took the cuttings the 15th of last month and I tugged on them yesterday and many had rooted and today is April 7th so that is about 3 weeks but give them up to 6 weeks.
Thank you ❤ but what kind of salvia’s?
Do you mean which ones can you propagate this way? I think it is all of them, but I found the tip cuttings work faster. I should redo this and explain that.
Thumb nail says quick and easy but the video is over 18 min long lol. Just kidding. Thank you for sharing how to do this
You’re welcome 😊LOL, I should say each individual is quick and easy but how long it takes will depend on how many you take to root.
Typo: propagating “saliva”
LOL, as long as it works.
