    Thank you for creating this comprehensive set of video's of the SY-1000. I have had practically all the Roland and Boss V guitar gear. I was just about to push the button and buy the SY-1000. I am a freelance musician and composer and have just lost all my gigs and composition jobs due to Covid 19. Watching your videos has made want one even more, just gonna have to wait a lot longer. Keep up the great work!

    I've already indicated at vguitarforums my interest in this device (and I already own the VG-99 and the GP-10) but this video (and the first part) have really added to my interest. I've played live with hex guitar setups for over ten years now live gigging around my area and this will add to my tonal palette. Definitely one of the attractions is the improved modeled guitar sounds not just the synth stuff. I noticed the multi-channel re-amping wasn't discussed at all here that's a whole different feature that first showed up on the Boss GP-10.

    • @kane6529
      @kane6529 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you mean multi channel re-amping? Like using GP-10 and say Helix together

  • @mrz80

    Bought one of these things last spring and it's not too far-fetched to say it revolutionized my playing. I play in the worship group at church, and our synth player had the temerity to graduate and move away, so I've been doing a lot of stuff that required a very non-guitar tonal palette. The GP-10 was close, but the capabilities of the SY-1000 have completely shoved the little yellow box off the map. :)

    The pedal and the review was AWESOME!!!!........I just bought a Strandberg Bodin from Sweetwater yesterday...I live near them.....per our Rep - Josh...they are closing down business effective asap cuz of the spread of the virus here in the states, in Indiana and Chicago......they don't Kno for how long - but theyr shutting down bizness and maken sure so their employees self contain themselves at home asap.......just thought u should know - seeing u link them from your site ...... remember when u had the bad sickness right after Namm , and I had it from 12/29 -1/07 , there is a possibility we had a strain related to the pandemic virus ..I had had fever and felt like someone was sitting on my chest the entire time - but it also turned to major plumbing problems.....I kno u were in pretty bad sale too when u got back to Germany at the last 5-10days of January.....I hope ur safe n well my friend!!!.....sorry about Sweetwater - Josh told me my guitar was the last thing shipping out FedEx ...I get it on Tuesday or Wednesday here in Chicago!.....gonna write some new Instrumental songs .....be well everyone!!!.....watch out for each other !!!....

    This demo was wonderful! Very kind of you sir to go through the sounds. They are brilliant and full of definition. I will really have to consider getting something like this to record my demos for a feedback free sound no matter the realism. Also limiting the number of instruments needed for creativity! If only inspiration could be just that simple.
    Thank you! P.S that control button rocks!

    The main differences as it appears to the SY-300 are astonishingly in the clean sounds, especially the string seperation of the SY-1000 with the ability to create different tunings and multistring effects. I play a SY-300 and (for me), in creating fancy blade runner plus arpeggiated, sequenced and all the string like van halen:jump sounds, the SY-300 simply does the same job. The SY-300 has 3 osillators and the ability to mix these with 4 - 6 effects at once in one patch (od, ch, li, rev, del,.. ). What I find a real drag is the fact, that the SY-1000 seemingly cannot play samples (Henning mentioned that more than once). For €999.- plus ~€300.- for the GK3 pickup and cables this should be the all in one solution for MIDI guitar. I love my SY-300 and the thing I miss would be the ability to play natural instrument samples (piano and so on). So if you'd buy a SY-300 and a GR-55GK you'd pay the same or less (pickup and cable included) and it plays samples (included and no laptop needed) on top.

    The rest sound like poor 80's synth.

    is there any difference in "AMP modeling" sound quality when output of standard pickups goes through GK-3 system + 13 pin “MIDI” cable (Roland GKC) to “GK in” input of Boss SY-1000 and when output of standard pickups goes direct to “Guitar input” of Boss SY-1000?

I had a VG99 for many years that i used live a lot for two 12 strings together and bass sounds... of course i sold it a couple of years ago and now i've joined a band where i really need those 12 strings... found the patch there :) are the 'normal' guitar sounds through the gk OK for gigging do you think? I used to use the guitar out on the vg99 to my amp for straight sounds and the vg to the PA, but there was a bit of the old background noise!

    Nice piece of kit. Not much use in a live band situation, but as there won't be any places to play live for quite some time, due to the current situation, it could be just the thing to keep players occupied while stuck at home. Not.cheap, so financial constraints could be a huge problem in purchasing the item. For all those that can, many hours of happy twiddling.

  • @jimmywilliams3972

    Now you mentioned latency but Austin from Boss said there is no latency in this technology. A few other demonstrators for this type of modeling have said the same thing. There is no midi conversion so is it possible that you are hearing something else?

    • @EytschPi42
      @EytschPi42  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      a computer has to process the sound... this takes time, so there has to be latency! It’s not bad at all, but there is a disconnect between you and the sound in a way that isn’t there when you use the built in modeler with the normal cable.

    • @GHL30NLuzifer
      @GHL30NLuzifer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are functions in this unit that dont have latency (like multi fx stuff), and other things (synth sounds) have a small delay. Dont have the unit, but from what i've been hearing is that the delay is super small.

    I'm really considering upgrading my GR55 since I only use the analog instruments on it (the Modeling Tones) and dont care about the samples that much, and this looks like the perfect candidate.
    What do you think about the tracking though? It looks good, but it seems to skip notes easily, like in 2:41 or 5:06.
    I would really apreciate your opinon.

    Fab demo series especially given the high investment involved. Does the sy1000 functionality & Sound offer the same as that provided by all previous Roland & Boss guitar synths? For example I’d like to be confident that I could emulate sounds made by Andy Summers & Robert Fripp when they used Roland synths in the 80s. Does Sy1000 provide this and more? Or should I look for something allowing more customised sounds?

  • @UnitedEffect

    Hey Henning! I've had a guitar with a Graphtech 13 pin output for 11 years now ...maybe I've finally found a use for it in the SY1000!? I bought the guitar w/ the GraphTech because of the piezo output w/ 3 band para eq as one of the 3 outputs. It's a Holdsworth Fatboy HF2S by Carvin. I've thought of picking up a used VG-99 because I like it way more than the GR55, but heard that it doesn't work well with the Graphtech. I dunno what to do...? aaargh! Anglo Montrealer in need of direction!!! I'm gonna go over all of these videos again. Benn Jordan isn't very keen on the SY-1000; but he's a total midi guitar freak with different needs than most guitar players.... gawd I'm confused!!!!
