Recently got confirmation from CIG that this is not a bug! This was an NPC spawning location and behavior update:
robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/3/thread/mercenary-bunkers-got-a-huge-update-surface-level-
Testing out the new surface NPCs RNG spawning for Mercenary bunker missions.
Build: 3.24.1 LIVE
Issue Council Reports:
Invulnerable NPCs and Player Character issue-council.robertsspaceindustries.com/projects/STAR-CITIZEN/issues/STARC-128803
Medpen does not heal issue-council.robertsspaceindustries.com/projects/STAR-CITIZEN/issues/STARC-127796
Finally!
Yeah huge improvement! Added bonus- they're slightly harder so more folks fail the missions and leave the NPCs behind. I had a low level mercenary mission like that with only 10 targets, but there were well over 25 Ninetails there inside and out. I started taking small arms fire as I came in to land because they were spread out around the bunker already.
Not going to lie, when I landed at my first bunker in 3.24.1, it was dark and all I saw what's th silhouette of a person walking around when I went to 3rd person.
I thought it was a player, trying to ambush bunker runners ( I've been hit before!) Until I saw his Ajax security uniform.
Nice! This is definitely a welcome update. The bunker missions have been in desperate need of an update for so long. They had become quite boring and mechanical so I hope they expand on this idea in the future.
Perhaps that’s bc it’s the same bunker no matter where you go. Distribution centers were on the right track but of course they’re riddled with bugs and underutilized.
Cracking…but it makes me laugh. A big unknown ship has just landed right in their front yard and they are searching the bunkers nearby for the intruder 😅
No, it is a defend the outpost mission so they are intruding and there are military npc’s inside that fight them so it does actually make sense.
They shouldn’t be looking through the floor at them though…
@@zir3ael811 aha gotcha! Ok thanks I missed that bit. Thats better then 👍
In older versions, if enemies owned the base they would take control of the turrets and shoot you down, at which point, if they didn't, it would make sense why the ground troops would patrol to look for you. I'm sure they'll bring that back in the future.
Now they need railguns and the ability to target incoming ships
nice to see that the backpack reload works now
This video is pristinely put together. The smooth landing with camera angles. The no commentary immersion. The smooth movements, not trying to speedrun it. The methodical elimation of the targets. Even the intro title and outro "Star Citizen" screens.
I will definitely be sharing this with friends who're curious about the game.
Enjoy, more to come. About to do a whole bunch of missions to observe the NPC surface behavior.
Now if they can get them to man those machine guns, it would be a real challenge!
Cant wair for 4.0 and 1.0, i will be bringing the entire fam
Wow, I've been begging for this ever since they added that planetary navigation stuff for A.I.!
I have to get back to SC some time soon.
I really wish the defense missions had enemies fly in and take the lift.
great video and I love the smooth outro transition
Good idea but AI / servers still holding this potential gem back
I always though CIG should do this for bunkers.
CIG have been so bad at patches that I'm starting to think this is a bug and not intended at all, lol.
I wasn’t sure if it was a bug until I did a few missions :)
This not a bug.
@@AugustinGoetz Correct, Zac confirmed this on Spectrum
Wow I didn't know about this! It was implemented innthe 3.24.1?
Sneaky update perhaps or a bug.
Good video, and a welcome addition to bunkers, but...
Why do people not go suppressed? I mean there's virtually no damage reduction across any distance you'd be using this type of gun for, suppressors are easily purchasable, and it makes the enemies have a _much_ harder time finding you. There's a reason the XM-7 Spear comes with one default on all rifles. I think the only time I ever go unsuppressed is when I'm in a prolonged fight and have to drop-&-swap a gun for a "hasty reload" with one on the ground. But I'm coming back and grabbing that suppressor off the one I dropped as soon as possible though!
Also, why bother scrolling through auxiliary tools to get to the Med Gun when you're carrying at least 4 Medpens? In PVP that'll get you killed, heal faster and return fire or then sprint to a new position to displace, which you can't do while trying to select and then use the Med Gun.
Just some friendly advice...
Great FPS advice! You should check out my collection of NPC FPS testing videos :)
My mistake I thought this was a bug.
Stealth changes are hard to distinguish from bugs :)
04:08 to see him shoot an NPC
good ole dependable cutty!
At first I thought this was a glitch, but then iv noticed this happening at MANY bunkers on MT. The first time i experienced this i nearly $hit myself because I was caught so off guard, my 2nd thought was "hahah funny prank, someone found a way to get the guards up the elevator" lol Good stuff, happy to see bunkers getting a "refresh" like this.
So you are saying it can't be a glitch because it happens a lot?
You must be new to SC...
Took me a few missions to conclude it was likely not a bug. If it was a bug, it was the most clean systemic bug I've ever seen.
@@j.d.4697 no, been playing for a few years but doesnt feel like a glitch given the scope and way the npc's patrol the external perimeter. Very well could be a glitch but im crossing fingers this was intended. And if it is a glitch, hopefully they'll leave it like this. I find some bunkers have all npc's spawning outside and some only inside and some half and half. So wtf really knows whats going on lol
@@j.d.4697you must be new to empathy. Get a clue, re'tard
And what about bunker loots ? Still nerfed ? Cause I only get shit when there is some box…
Haven’t noticed any changes to loot yet.
Great video, where did you get the optics for that rifle?
Picked it up out of an ammo loot box at a DC
Amazing! :D
I was thinking this was a bug :o Is this international from CIG? :O I thought AI was not ready for this^^
It's not ready for this, but since when does CIG release content the game is ready for? Look at the Hull C for instance...
They ignored the player landing while staring into the ground at hostiles they cannot see, no they're not ready for this 😂
It is a nice change once/if they fix that though
CIG has confirmed this was an NPC behavior update: robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/3/thread/mercenary-bunkers-got-a-huge-update-surface-level-
is this a ptu update or is a prat of the live 3.24.1 ?
This is on the LIVE envrironment.
@@CarbonPixel78 ok thx mate
I like that, makes me almost want to park further away to bust out a sniper rifle. Still think we are no where near a solid state to allow that kind of gameplay. Hell even having a second person acting as gun ship support above would be cooler if the game was cooked more
is this live or ptu?
Live
bug, today i gring mission bunker 10k 17k 20k, and not see this
Not a bug: robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/3/thread/mercenary-bunkers-got-a-huge-update-surface-level-
I've mostly seen this activity at MT defend missions. Testing Hurston now.
🤨
omg finally,
When your players are so starved for content, they think a bug is an update
This NPC surface transition progress was mentioned in a monthly report not too long ago. Btw, Zac from CIG confirmed this was an update, not a bug.
robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/3/thread/mercenary-bunkers-got-a-huge-update-surface-level-
They are always hard to tell apart, which I think is really cool.
Are you sure those just weren't npc that found their way to the surface? wouldn't be the first time.😅
If they are just lost NPCs, they should stay this way lol
Como se puede obtener esos graficos?
Specs in the description
I thought on thumbnail the ship landed on uneven surface with it's landing gear stretched out independently... that would be badass
surprised you didnt instantly get a tier 3 injury on your left ring finger, and right big toe.
I can confirm my left toe started to feel a bit chilly about halfway through this mission.
Huh, so there's ammo for med gun now eh? Nifty
That's not new, it's just pretty much never an issue.
This was amazing to see! Now I need to go and do bunkers myself! 😂
People are going to need backup for the consignment missions :)
they are a great way to earn money. sell med pens and gear for extra cash and dont forget to loot the boxes once you clear the area
You can wipe water from your visor? wow! When did they add that in? How do you wipe water from your visor like that? Amazing!!!
I think about 3 years ago😅 maybe more
Alt+X
wait wat
Hate enemy markers
o7
No exhaust-blasted snow particles were kicked up as you softly landed that 35 metric tonnes space ship.... so, not interested in the rest of it yet. I'll look at this project again in 2025/26 when maybe they'll have full-size orbiting planets, like Chris promised at CitCon 2017.
Hope you enjoy your negativity. Have a nice life.
Yeah good luck with that. Planets will likely never be full sized and orbits is a BIG maybe
@@Fuar11the reason I believe they don't orbit is because the current quantum system is a point to point to point and if the planet is moving while you're traveling you'd be off course a good bit. I'm sure once we get manual quantum flight they'll start making the plants and moons orbit each other
@@Jeefly Isn't the entire point of quantum travel that you don't have to manually pilot? Boosting is intended for short distances. But flying across an entire system to get to a planet should be automatic. And to do that when your target is moving is tough.
It was an immersion killer marking the last 3 or 4 enemies inside the bunker, defeats the objective if you ask me. So now, they mark the remaining few outside!!
Cmon CIG think......
Marks do serve a purpose for bug testing (ie. you can see if an NPC is glitching out or stuck in an elevator or somewhere). But yes, hopefully they'll remove markers for higher difficulty missions.
There is a chance they will remove that again when the game becomes less buggy and more reliable, because the main reason you would want this feature in the game is that you never know whether the mission NPCs bugged out or you just haven't been looking properly enough.
They talk about the AI being better, but AI just let you land at their bunker and didn't have a squad waiting for you?
I think that IS the squad waiting for you. AI is just not responsive enough or smart enough to take position or god forbid wait outside for cargo bay door
@@Fuar11 that was 10-12 fps on server? I wonder how it will be @20+
@@Edukacyjny_pa-troll Even with improved server perf and stability the AI still won't be up to par or at all smart. But I've yet to see a game with enemies that behave remotely smart unless it's a scripted event
Lol it wasn't implemented its a bug.
