Aweome video, thanks for this great moment. Everyone has already said that the video is beautiful, but no one has noticed how well done the character is.
Absolutely beautiful. If only we could go in one on live without a 30k every 20 mins. The devs did great work. I hope the content folks at CIG give us compelling reasons to visit these caves. Maybe survey missions to map/scan caves. Rare Mineral or egg hunting, hidden pirate caches, monster hunts….etc. current the missing person missions that take place in caves are a mess and are frequently incomplete-able. They go on forever rather than containing the mission to a reasonable area of the caves. There are loads to terrain and clipping issues as well as terrible NPC AI that make those missions a hard pass. I hope that is cleaned up so these beautiful caves can be used along with great content. Beautiful work though. I can’t say this is where people wanted the limited dev resources spent at this time but I can’t deny the results. Gorgeous.
@@elBlazaar I think it has the new tech to be honest, you can see how the water interact with the reflection and stuff. But I also think that some features are disabled - such as physics. Maybe it's to avoid wasting some server resources. So what about client-side physics? As demo-ed in the CitCon from 2953, their physics are computed on chunks on water. Maybe for technical reasons those chunks cannot be small enough to match those puddles? I don't know - I am just bouncing ideas! Having physics here would be awesome for sure.
I hope we can build undergroumd and usr somekind of camoflauge to mimic terrain. That way, we couls build hidden bases! or buils into mountains, or ravines, or maybe even under water!!!!!
Hazardous liquids aren't in-game yet, they'll probably come with hazardous cargo and after fire tech. When acid is actually acid, you can be sure I'll be testing all the ways we can die :D
I cant speak to the game, but on Earth, this type of limestone cave is formed by the dissolution of carbon dioxide in rainwater as it seeps into the cave system, making the water weakly acidic, Its acidic enough to react with limestone rock over tens of thousands of years, but the water would be perfectly safe to walk through, its not like a vat of industrial sulfuric acid.

beautiful cinematic footage! loved it! how do you create that smooth steady panning camera movement wheb you are in 3rd person? is that a cam-saved setting somehow?
I got some tips from Terada's camera guide (where you setup joystick axis to certain view keybinds). For the slow zoom-in effect, I just used a zoom filter in my editing software. Terada's camera tutorial: th-cam.com/video/aDAGwlHJfro/w-d-xo.html
oh wait, there's actually MAP FUNCTIONALITY in caverns now?! Well hot damn. I always hated how my suit's mapping never recorded or updated as I explored.
Lots of new tech on the horizon, I would see how performance, game support, supply, and prices trend. Star Citizen isn't optimized so even the latest/greatest GPUs will plateau in performance until the game gets official driver support from the GPU manufacturers. I would get whatever GPU you can afford comfortably that will future proof you for a while and not buy anything 1st gen as they tend to have problems.
I never really found the mini-map all that useful, but in the caves, I hate how it reveals everything. There is nothing left to explore and no chance of getting lost anymore. Huge step backwards
Yeah, it should be like a self carry radar that shows out to a certain number of meters, or like some other games would do, it fills in the mini map AS you discover areas, so you can at least find your way back out.
There are several "free" headtracking programs that use your cellphone camera and/or webcam out there. There's also TrackIR and Tobii which seem to be the two mainstream options.
