- Three things that changed my life:
1. started carnivore diet
2. I read the book called: Health Secrets Industry Hides
3. I stopped eating excess sugar
I’ve been on the carnivore diet for almost 4 months. I have lymphedema in both legs and weighed 440lbs. I have lost 70lbs and the fluid is coming off. My legs have gone down so much since beginning this diet. I have a long way to go but I feel so much better.
Fantastic! Keep going! 😺💪
I agree. At the very least if you stay low carb, stay off the ultra-processed foods and sugar and stay with high saturated fat, you'll be surprised as to how much of your health will return.
Been carnivore for 10 months. Lost about 30pounds, 2 x pant sizes and my athletic ability much improved.
That is fantastic. You should be so proud of yourself. I can tell you you have completed the most difficult part and there are two reasons too KFG. 1. YOU are WORTH it!! 2. You are an inspiration to others thank you for sharing.
Fantastic ! I was just telling a buddy today that my cankles have disappeared. Keep going. Everything will get better!
7 year carnivore and never going back to SAD had T2D, fatty liver disease, asthma, COPD, and arthritis $860.00 per month of medication. All of it is gone $0 meds. I'm now 67 and doing things I haven't since my 40"s like lifting weights, splitting fire wood by hand, mountain biking, backpacking.
67 years old 7 years ago I had T2D, fatty liver disease, asthma, COPD, fibromyalgia, IBS and arthritis, walked with a cane also on $860.00 of meds per month. Today I'm off the meds and no longer have any of the above. I'm lifting weights, riding my mountain bike and running a landscape construction company with no reason to retire. This all came to be because of Dr. Baker and Dr Berry their information and positivity literally saved my life.
Can i Ask what kind of symptoms did you have-fibromyalgia?
@stellaancimer8505
Nerve and muscle pain through my body that never went away sometimes severe and sometimes not so severe.
@dwightkeener8910 oh i know the feeling, they Gave me functional neurological disorder because all the blood came back normal..so today you dont have this problem anymore?🙏
They're both quacks who are making vulnerable people sick, and should be kicked off the site. Sounds like you were simply on a low calorie diet while on carnivore and your successes are simply from weight loss alone. Did you used to weigh over 250 pounds?
Berry, Chaffee, and now Baker.
It's good to see all these og's making connections and growing the bigger picture.
Actually, Dr Baker was eating carnivore before Dr Berry and I think even before Dr Chaffee.
@^ I'm talking about the order of interviews with Westman.
Berry was his first interview a while back.
Growing the smaller picture of dumb people who rely on anecdotes instead of evidence. Putting the vulnerable in the hospital for heart attacks and strokes with false claims about how they know something the conventional medical community doesn't.
It's not a race. But 🌎 earth is definitely winning with these good folk
Baker was first
6 months into my carnivore journey. Lost 45 lbs. My blood pressure is always in the optimal levels, and I'm sleeping way better than ever. Also, I'm weight lifting, and I can see that my muscles are growing like crazy. I'm 46 and last time I felt this good I was in my early 20's.
Did keto for 18 months and now carnivore. I’m 69 and have overcome 4 life threatening events over the last 12 years and I weighed 278 lbs at my heaviest. Now I’m 211, big boned and muscular for my age. I may make age 90 or croak tomorrow but the coffin will be much lighter either way!
And I bet your quality of life is a lot better too. I know mine is.
ha ha .. keep up your sense of humour 🤣..it’s so beneficial, safe & contagious 🌺Ku’uipo
My 2 favorite doctors!
Thanks for this honest and interesting interview.
One of my weirdest benefits going on carnivore was, about 2 weeks in i noticed i stopped stinking my BO was gone. I can go 1 week without a shower, as long as i keep my hair brushed.
Me, too. I noticed this on the keto diet, too. I'm carnivore lite. I have some berries sometimes. They keep me going since I do miss the sweet things I used to eat. Haven't had ice cream in years.
Thank you, Dr Westman and Dr Baker.
Thanks for this talk 😃 I enjoy following Dr. Baker for carnivore and he always makes so much sense. My biggest takeaway from this video is, “for someone who can do it, it works”. And it’s just so true. I do it and it works. The reduction in hunger definitely helps as I know from losing over 95 lbs now, but the food is amazing. Shopping and cooking is easy. It feels like so easy compared to traditional ways used to feel healthy, and my body just loves it and makes me feel wonderful and young inside. But you have start it and stick with it. For some people, that takes a learning curve to get past, for others it’s like, “welcome home, where have you been all my life, love at first sight” 😁 That’s me.
Thanks for interviewing Dr Baker. This your interview with Dr Chafee are very inspirational. I have done Keto in the past on and off but currently doing a 90 day carnivore diet to see if it will clear up skin issues. I am fortunate that I truly love fatty meat. 30 days in and no problem sticking to the plan. Only dairy is heavy cream in coffee.
Go well! 👍
Water fasting will clear up your skin. You want to get into autophagy. Any of the keto and intermittent fasting proponents will discuss it. Don’t know if One Meal A Day (OMAD) will get you there. Some I like are Dr. Jason Fung, Dr. Sten Ekberg, Dr. Boz, Dr. Mindy Pelz, Dr. Berg. There are plenty of others.

I have Multiple Sclerosis and psoriatic arthritis. Both conditions are greatly improved by keeping my carbs below 20grams. It’s working for me.
Shouldn't you be seeing a competent local doctor about health conditions like that, instead of weirdos on here?
@@dan-qe1tbDr Eric Westman is head of metabolic health at Duke University, one of the most respected research universities and health systems in the world.
You are on the right path! I have had to fire so many doctors who felt I was being non-compliant because I refused the pharmaceutical drugs.
I lost many friends with MS who did take the drugs. Doctors are taught the Western Medicine. They have to pay off their student loans, and it is an incentive for them to prescribe drugs.
Usually, if you have one autoimmune you have others.
My doctor asked why I was refusing the drugs. I let her know that I was taking supplements, eating healthy and had always been an active person. She said her father had MS. I asked what he was doing for flare- ups. She replied that he was like me with taking supplements. In return I replied “That is why he is still living.”
My son was a licensed nurse and after seeing the truth he let his license drop. He is now on the same holistic/alternative path as myself. He does the keto and feels great.
I am thrilled to hear from so many common sense doctors who appreciate a patient is willing to get to the root cause and be their own health advocate.
I wish you the best in your healing and recovery journey.
My husband has a close friend who was diagnosed with MS about 20 years ago. He eats a carnivore diet and his MS is now in remission according to his doctor. He told us that his doctor said since he’s in remission he can stop his medication if he chooses to, but he chose to continue taking his meds for now. This diet can work.🙏
@ that is wonderful! I had moved to an area that has high humidity. That is my main trigger. I usually fall and fracture my foot every year. I had my podiatrist to put in an order for the Exogen Utrasound Bone Stimulator.
I regret having surgery on my foot ten years ago. The plate and screws on my first and second metatarsal know is arthritic and surrounded by cysts. This causes me to put pressure on the fifth metatarsal. I went to PT and felt it break.
I was an active hiker, running the trails, and marathons until the last few years. I had to accept that I would never run again. The best form of exercise is doing aquatics. However, I have to have someone with me because of the MS hugs.
There are many products to use and wear to prevent a flare-up. Good luck to your husband friend. Sounds like he is taking control of his chronic disease. A support group is wonderful. Unless you have MS your family and friends will not understand what you are going through.
I tried the carnivore diet to lose weight and quickly realised that was the silver lining, two weeks in I lost all the inflammation in my joints, sleeping better, blood pressure dropped to normal levels, libido increased, lost 70 to 80% of my depression and anxiety, I've been a tradesman for 25 years and have thrashed my body on jobsites, I would get chronic back pain 2 to 4 times a year, since changing my diet my back feels better now at the age of 44 then it did in my 20s
Eat for fuel,not recreation.
This is key! The reason why so many people (especially Americans) are overweight is because of eating for "taste" and "recreation". Yes, food tastes good and it's supposed to. But ultimately the whole purpose of eating food is to nourish and fuel the body, end of story. Using food for any reason other than that is a problem. And I say this with compassion and understading, as a person who had a very troubled past with an eating disorder!
I have been thankfully recovered for many years now, but since beginning a ketovore diet almost 5 months ago, my health has been taken to new heights. I feel so much better physically and also mentally eating this way, and I honestly have no desire to eat anything sweet at all. I love eating for nourishment only, not recreation!
true and meat tastes so delicious!
Right on
Couldn’t agree more 👍
Good idea, although it's kinda hard to do that all the time, what with special occasions and the foods associated with them. But I think if you can maintain this attitude most of the time, it couldn't hurt.
My blood pressure is down to "ideal" doing keto for less than a year!
I love you both. You are the heroes behind the scene
You guys are my hero’s keep up the wonderful work , from a N C 6 yr. Carnivore thanks so very much!
Excellent video. I had never heard Dr. Baker's backstory. He is a great example of taking charge of your health by making better choices with foods. Love how open he was about his story and that he is not dogmatic about everyone doing what he does. Thanks Dr. Westman for having him!💜
It comes down to,does food control you or do you control your food?
Yes. Which is controlled by hormones. If we eat carbohydrate insulin will rise and prevent the burning of fat which will leave one hungry. So if you are in control it's because of education and knowing to avoid carbohydrate to have access to body fat and therefore not feel hungry.
I respect these two men so much- thank you!🤩
9 months in at 61 and I haven’t felt better. Skin/ Arthritis/ strength and memory fog.. All 10 times better.
*Sugar promotes inflammation* Simply cutting sugars out to a high degree might just help the body. PERIOD...
Keep up the good work 🎉❤
Eating carbs doesn't cause skin issues, arthritis or memory fog.
Way to go!!
58 years old. Carnivore almost a year. Zero fibre. Beef, eggs, bacon, test, hgh, weightlifting. 👍
Another excellent interview.!
I wish there were more discussion about the psychological aspects of carb addiction and related food addictions. These discussions can be quotidian otherwise.
Glad to be listening to your Dr.Eric Westman. You and the like are revolutionary including Dr.Shawn Baker.Enjoying your insights on these fundamentals as a Dietician from Fiji 🇫🇯
Great interview!
Thank you!
Excellent thanks very much 😅
great conversation!!! thank you to introduce you channel into the carnivore diet and some of the people that are doing it like dr. Shwan Baker, Dr. Anthony Chaffee, etc...
Excellent info as usual. Thanks
Exactly - this is why humans don't have an Ozempic deficiency: we do have a saturated fat deficiency & a protein deficiency; try adding fat trimmings (air fry 5 minutes) & home made dehydrated beef strips, if a snack is needed. It works.
8 yrs and going strong on a Ketogenic Diet, recently advanced to Carnivore and feeling even better. What I remember thinking, the very first time I heard about Keto was, how much sense it made! Just logical and I knew immediately - I found the answer to help myself heal. The doctors sadly were only offering more meds, more injections, more physio. But when you’re entire body is inflamed, you have chronic illnesses, poor sleep because of them, poor energy, constant pain and cognitive, emotional deficits - you must address the ROOT CAUSE and not just treat the symptoms. Keto, Ketovore, Carnivore and Lion Diets remove the inflammation, period. Good Luck folks and just eat the meat 😋
Carnivore/keto/low carb is the only diet that helped me lose weight and keep it off. Plus I am no longer constantly in a state of hunger and snacking all day. Look at high carb diet and most Americans who eat high carb diets and they snack/graze constantly!
I can't remember the last time I was HUNGRY even not eating for a day there is no hunger no dizziness no nausea it's like oh I was so busy I never ate yesterday a d that's only 1 year on carnivore
Me, too. I lost 50 pounds and it hasn't come back for a change. Weight Watchers never did that for me.
I just got off of one of Dr Baker's up dates Carnivore for the win !.
What do you think about Paul Saladino which introduced some carbs in his diet (fruit). thank you
I have been on 2 meal a day keto for at least 2 years. Lost weight and blood pressure down ...I do have questions that I'm working on concerning muscle strength and "facial aging".
I have dabbled in the Keto diet, I have done Optavia, Weight Watchers, etc., I have gained and lost the same 30-60 lbs. for 30 years. I have many, many times said that I don’t have an “off switch”! I thought that phrase was original to me! 🤣🤣. For the last 2 weeks I have been doing a deep dive to figure out a way of eating that is sustainable to lose weight and keep it off, along with easing arthritis pain, prevent my blood pressure to continue to slowly creep upwards. I am 61, husband is 63. The Carnivore diet intrigues me, but hubby doesn’t have as many teeth as I do and finds chewing dense meat tedious. Also loves pasta and casseroles. So, I have been trying to find compromises and unsure what do do. Any suggestions?
Doctors Baker and Westman, have you ever considered crowdfunding to conduct the research for low-carb/carnivore?
Seems to me I remember hearing that there are plenty of studies about at least the keto diet, and possibly some carnivore studies, too.
Wonderful testimonials, and results. Love watching content like this, and read all the positive comments. I tried a dirty carnivore for one year. I never was a "beef eater", and I did not enjoy my year experience. However, I did start feeling better. I went back to carbs two months ago, as I was unhappy meat eater. I feel like complete crap once again. My dropped BP is rising again. My arthritis came back... I also was badly constipated on carnivore (never before), and eating carbs fixed my constipation right away. Go figure.
I am on carnivore again, doing simple McDonalds patties, as dr Berry recommended once. However, I do have one slice of bread for regularity. Thought on my new approach?
Ditch the bread grains suck!
@@stephanripianzi4004 agree, but I became severely constipated on carnivore, I was regular all my life. Added no-flour 7 grain frozen bread, and voila. My constipation was so bad, the laxatives wouldn't work.
@ if it works for you then that is what matters 👍
You can add a magnesium citrate supplement every evening. Helps with sleep and works to relieve constipation. Bread is not a good source of fiber. Eat brocolli or cabbage for fiber, but keep under 20 grams of carb a day. If you MUST eat bread, try Ezekiel bread in the orange lable. I't sprounted grains and no preservatives. Good luck.
Doc, what do you have to say to the people that don't enter ketosis on your "keto" diet?
Think it varies from person to person. You measure on a keto mojo? My levels are low. Best reading I ever got, that was still low, was after fasting for two days. W says you don't have to test. & for some of us, it's just a frustration anyway.
@@andyc7747 Thanks for your reply, but you are wrong. Carbs are not essential for life. Ketones are also not essential. The body can make glucose. Check out the word gluconeogenesis.
@@mariad1151 I agree with everything you said. I use both urine strips and I have 2 blood monitors (not keto mojo). You missed my point. My point is not that the diet is bad. I actually think he has a good diet. My point is that some people want to be in ketosis and he should not call his diet keto because it is misinformation for those that don't enter ketosis. If he called it low-carb, there would be no problems.
@@fredsmit3481 well that's an interesting point. W's diet is technically Atkins. Are you asking about a definition--like "how can you be following a 'diet' if you're not losing weight?"
Jeff Volek & Steve Phinney set parameters for their "keto" diet that is high fat. Carnivore, according to Dr Westman, is a subset of a keto diet, tho it's lower in carbs. How such parameters are set, I don't know. It's the wild, wild West.
Even I could attain a .5 reading & was told that's ketosis.... Are there people that can't even attain that? I'm feeling encouraged!
What's your point? Westman requires a maximum of 20 g of carbohydrate per day, total, not net. If a human cannot achieve ketosis on that number of carbohydrates that's an anomaly & an ideosyncrasy -- not proof that the diet is not keto.
@fredsmit3481 You're not going to be in ketosis 100% of the time. Your body goes in and out of ketosis depending on what you are doing at the time. As long as you are fat adapted, not using glucose for energy, you are in ketosis. Stop with the measurements and just eat whole foods
The thing with nutrition is that each person is in control of their own choices. I choose to eat in a way that makes me feel the best I can. Keto/carnivore is my choice.
Most doctors don’t know the exact answer either !
Dear Dr. Westman,
Please don't put videos in purple frame, it's annoying. Content is great, thank you.

I started low carb then it was more like keto and now most of my meals are carnivore. Arthritic pain almost gone, fibro gone and i sleep like a baby. Also bp normalised and 30lb lighter. I will never go back to low fat high carb diet. I did atkins many years ago after birth of my daughter and was told it was dangerous so i stopped but other diets i was so hungry all the time now i wat twice a day.
Waste circumference subjective? Measurable results?
carnivore for about 4 months. went from 260 to 215. piles are basically gone. wounds healing better. overall better. the piles being gone is reason enough for me to continue and everything else is gravy.
did he say that carbohydrate is the perfect way to satiate in referring to hava, around the 21:30 time
No
I know people keep saying that well you can’t sustain it and you can’t do it for me. It’s the easiest thing I’ve ever done. I’ve got a really busy life in a few minutes. I can cook up in the morning to pound the ground beef with some eggs and I’m done and then maybe some patties if I’m working my second job that night I mean but
Just think if the two ( and or others) were to partner and write a commentary for the WSJ, the impact that might have may have. I firmly believe that many of you that have been early advocates are saints for the grassroots expansion you’ve led toward better health. But at some point to move our society more quickly toward better health, there needs to be 1000 x the resources. Your legitimacy has vaulted because of your altruistic approach. However, unless interfered with the world is capitalist and this movement needs disrupting folks to start saying there is money to be made and then you will begin to see political change. In the meantime I will continue to help myself and anyone who is willing to listen. Much praise to all of you in the ketogenic advocacy community.
LOL!! ANOTHER jardiance commercial 😂. Every keto and carnivore video is being inundated with them.
We got *"brainwashed"* since home and 3rd grade 😤😡😠🤬
I got gallbladder removed over 10 years ago. I tried keto and carnivore. But i get diarrhea from both diets. Even when i take Ox bile. What can i Do?
Maybe Apple Cider Vinegar
Had my gb out 7.5 yrs ago. I believe I developed bile acid malabsorption syndrome, a chronic diarrhea, mostly early morning, 3 trips to the bathroom, brown water diarrhea. Then I could function fairly normal the rest of the day.
My doctor tried me on cholestyramine and it really seemed to help to drink that at bedtime . Later my GI doctor gave me some cholesevelam pills to try and they worked just as well but swallowing 1-3 of those is easier than mixing a drink. Both are bile acid sequestrants. Most of the time that works, but I have an occasional episode of D and I take a Rx pill that works like immodium and it usually only takes 1 dose and I am back on track.
You might ask your Dr about taking a bile acid sequestrant
lower your fat intake and eat smaller meals more regularly.
It will take TIME for your Liver to regulate fat. Do it slowly, BUT, lots of Carnivores have no gall bladder.
It has been fascinating to see how people are using a way of eating I have been practicing for decades, expecting to die of a heart attack, to get healthier.
Ancel Keys, the father of the high carb diet and fats are the problem narrative, lied. His 7 country study actually was a 21 or 22 country study and he eliminated those that contradicted his hypothesis. His own studies show low cholesterol is more closely associated with death than high cholesterol. vLDL, the bad cholesterol in blood, is actually created by processed carb metabolism.
Recommend looking into Ancel Keys’ Minnesota Starvation Experiment. That should have revealed that high carb, low calorie diets are problematic.
