15 years ago Zout was lots better than Shout. I noticed it hasn’t seemed to work as well in recent years and wondered if it were my imagination. Glad to see these results. Now I feel validated.
I’ve used Zout FOREVER, which does not remove stain immediately, but then I soak the items in washing soda dissolved in water. Works nearly every time but I’m willing to try something else if the product alone would remove the stain without the long soak!

I've used Shout! for decades. Recently, I found that Dawn helps with tougher stains. If they don't come out the first try with Shout!, I spray them again, rub in some Dawn, and rewash. Works great!
Been a Shout brand loyalist my entire life because there really weren't any extensive tests done and it's what we had as a kid. Glad to see it performed pretty well here. I recently purchased 'Shout Advanced' which claims to have '70% more stain fighting ingredients.' Would've loved to see how it performed here against the others.
I happened to be in a retail store today and a young couple were looking for a product to detail their vehicle. They were looking at Chemical Guys and I said excuse me but there’s a guy on TH-cam that tested all these products and the Adam’s brand was highly rated I suggested they watch your feed. By the way I’m happy to see that Shout and OxiClean did so well as the was what my mom used. I wear a chartreuse shirt doing yard work and it gets hammered with stains and I grab the bottle of Shout or OxiClean and spray the stains let them sit for awhile and then wash them and both do a fantastic job of removing the stains! You are a valued source for items I might be interested in buying and I now check your feed before I even consider adding anything to cart. Thank you for all the hard work you do to save all of us money by testing all the those items! Thanks again from Northern Ontario
Thank you. I know you're not supposed to mix chemicals but the two I use, Shout and Oxiclean, work even better together. I spray them both on tough stains like bacon grease.
There’s a reason why!: Shout (or dish soap, etc.) breaks up the grease. Oxy breaks down the organic components that stain. Put together, you’ve treated both components that would leave a visible mark.
Most of us have a few of these stain removers. The most valuable thing is your chart to which works best on each type of stain. I took a screen shot of it and will print it out and put on inside of cabinet door 👍🏻 Thank You
BRAVO! Great Study/Research! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this! I have always bought/ used SHOUT for the past 2 decades, I'm so happy to see it ranked #3 in your study!
I started using the oxi clean spray about a month ago. As a locksmith I usually get the hydraulic oil from door closers on my work shirts. I’ve been very impressed by it and you confirmed my experience. Thank you for the video.
I did a similar test when my toddler son was staining all his clothes, and I was going through a bottle of stain cleaner a month. I found Zout the best.
The best selling point to me is that you’re fair and unbiased! Enjoy your channel and I tell all my friends! Thank you for all your hard work. I’m sure it ain’t easy and it’s a full time job.
That and his reviews are thorough and reasonable. The experiments he runs reflect real world usage, but are also very well controlled. Most advertisements you see are blatantly setting up easy strawmen to take down and give silly measures like "Look 40% younger."
A Tide pen is a must have. My wife carries one with her in her purse and it has come in very handy and works well. We use shout at home, and it sometimes takes a couple washes - just check it before drying. Great video!
We have been using Pink Stuff for about 2yrs. We have been so happy with how well it works. It's cool to see your video and it's performance. Thank you again for all of your efforts and dedication!
Thanks! I really like your reviews. As far as the stain removers, I have found that putting my liquid clothes detergent (currently All Free and Clear) directly on stains, rubbing it in and leaving for last into the wash, gives me equal or better results than just using Shout. So I suggest you include this as a follow-up test. But I'll pick up some Pink Stuff for comparison!
For grease or oil stains, rub white cream hand cleaner onto the stain, without pumice works best. Let sit for a few hours or overnight, wash in the washing machine separately from regular laundry. I've been doing this on my work pants and coveralls for a long time.
Yup, worked great for me too. I haven't tried without pumice, but Gogo Orange hand cleaner worked miracles for me. I got dirty hydraulic oil out of a cream colored pair of cargo pants and there wasn't any visible stain left behind.

Awesome tests! From personal experience regularly getting oil stains on clothing, my go to method is mixing a small amount of oxyclean and dish soap together in a bowl, putting it on the stain and rubbing it in, letting it soak a while. Works significantly better than any method I have found. My wife is always amazed the stains I’ll get out of our clothing.
I, like many others, enjoy your reviews! We have become wiser with our purchases thanks to you. I do have a suggestion for another review. That would be pruning shears for shrubs and bushes. @@bridgettstephens5582 Usually, I heard about it being used for cleaning up buildup, such as the rings from hard water. It's one of those circa-2012 viral Facebook type "tricks". It's just a mild acid, and doesn't particularly work well. If you need an unclogging acid, use sulfuric or lye based drain cleaners. Plungers or a 5 gal bucket always worked better for most clogs. As for buildup, just scrub more than once a decade with any cleaner and it shouldn't be a problem. But the original comment wants toilet models compared, not a bad idea!
So refreshing to have non bias reviews of products. You can't trust anything you see on YT from everyone being sold out to the products. Keep it up PF.

Todd my wife and I use a stain remover called Folex for laundry and carpet stains. It seems to work better than the others we’ve tried , just our opinion. I think she usually gets it at Lowe’s. Just sharing in case you do a carpet version of this video. Your channel is awesome !!
The formula has changed. The old one worked like a dream, removing practically any stain easily and quickly without any fumes or chemical smell. It was a light pink in color. But I recently bought a new jug filled with a clear liquid that didn’t remove anything. I was so surprised by the change that it motivated me to conduct some research. Apparently Folex is now owned by a company who decided to change the formula but kept the name and packaging the same. So loyal customers thinking they’re buying the original will be duped. Why ruin a good thing? Don’t waste your money. It’s not the same formula.
Could you compare charging cables for phones? My iPhone guy tells me OEM is best because they use silver, not copper. Sounded like a question for you! LOVE and TRUST your content.
The resistivity of silver is just slightly less than that of copper, so in theory electrons could flow faster, but really the diameter of the wire makes a far larger difference and charging also depends way more on the charging block controlling the current than it does on the cable. As long as your cable is rated to the wattage for your charging block, and your charging block is rated to the wattage for your phone, there should barely ever be a difference from material. Silver is definitely more expensive though, that’s certain. I would be interested to see the results of testing though.
I was thinking the same thing. He tested it in the degreaser video, though it would also fit well here, especially considering the price per oz and how little is required.
I've always found LA's Totally Awesome products to be fine for the money but average at best to the top brands. The Oxi Clean MaxForce used in this clip is the best I've found at removing oil/grease stains.
I don't usually add a comment to your videos but, I have to say, this was pure class. I also design and build speakers and can easily tell a difference in crossover components. Thank you Danny.
Every shop has a bottle of dawn dish washing liquid in it as it is used for so many different things and in a pinch works OK as a stain remover. I add a little dawn to my stain treatments. I would liked to have seen that included as I wondered if it helped any at all or was a waste of time and money.
Have you tried “Darn Tough” socks? They are not cheap, but they have been the best so far for me. They also have a lifetime warranty! I’m not sure how the return process works, I still haven’t had to replace any of mine yet and I’m going on 4 years! I work out doors mostly and spend a lot of time hiking!

They make a whole range of products and all the ones I’ve used have delivered great results - nice to see there will be happy pink stuff customers in the USA too 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 ❤
@@DMalek Eek. The reason I buy this here in the UK is it's typically lower cost than the more popular brand names but just as good if not better. You saw those results right? The top-10 products all had very similar results. If there's something cheaper locally just go for that.
As someone who struggles with removing any kind of laundry stain you are a HERO. Top 5 removers are now on my list to buy and hopefully less stains on my kids clothes in the future. 🤞
I did all this research a few months back and found that the powder Oxi Clean works the best hands down, at least for me it does. I soak all my whites in it over night and it removes grass stains, grease, oil, blood ect. Even after the cloths has been washed and dried.
Thank you SO much for conducting this well-crafted experiment! My own experience has been that Oxi-Clean out performs all others, especially when a material is treated for at least 6 hours before washing (which is stated on the label, when using the powder). I have found it can clean almost any stain, even after it's been there awhile, and for those I use the powder and soak them in water with the Ixi-Clean for 24 hours. That approach will even clean the residue on the parts of a juicer, that I have been otherwise unable to clean off!!
🎵"Shout, shout, get it all out, these are the stains you can do without so come on, we're cleaning for you so come on"🎵 You're welcome shout company. There's your new commercial
You read my mind with the home brew cause it's what I use. I don't add the peroxide, I just use the dawn liquid and pour it right on the stain. I find it works great on tees stained from my sweat and the brims of my caps. I do leave it on there for some hours before soaking in the sink though and if something is really stained I may have to apply and rinse a coupe of times but it works.
Please woodworking finishes next. There are new technology out there like UV-activated finishes which cures instant, epoxy, lacquer, ceramic finishes and all the other traditional.

@@sunshine3914 yes vinegar is still my go to for all kinds of things from bug bites and other skin rashes to stomach problems. I have no hair left that I can not comment on 😂
There are a lot of traditions that people follow without knowing why. Often they don't do anything useful; sometimes they make things worse. Baking soda does make a difference when used as a paste to scrub things, since it results in a very fine abrasive. Otherwise it doesn't do much. Vinegar is useful as an acid that's safe to work with and easily available. That helps break down or dissolve some things that water won't. But for the same reason pissing on a bite doesn't help, vinegar doesn't either - you're likely to cause more harm than good as you subject the already damaged skin to a mild acid. An interesting trick I've learned from watching chemists is that often it's easier to use multiple chemicals to get to your final goal. Oils don't dissolve in water, but soap will let the two stick together so you can wash away the oils. Many things dissolve readily in alcohol, but it has to be proper alcohol, not rubbing alcohol which is isopropyl alcohol that is heavily diluted with water. I know pine resin (used for soldering) won't dissolve at all in water or with soap, but dissolves easily in acetone. You can blot it and flush it away, then wash away the acetone with water. Lots of other nasty degreasers (xylene, toluene) can work wonders, but they are dangerous to work with unless you have proper gloves and ventilation. Finding a sequence of solvents where each is able to clean up the other until you get to clean water can be quite powerful and is used all the time in chemistry.
Baking soda is great on anything grease based or bódy oils. It was Grandma's secret to keeping whites white, especially sheets. Oils are acidic, and bs is alkaline so it breaks it down to neutral to be washed away. Vinegar is acidic, so it works well on alkaline stains. Minerals are alkalíne so it removes hard water buildup around sinks etc.
@@nathansmith3401, The house I grew up in had a well which delivered great tasting water but was full of minerals and required softener to be added to it in order to wash clothes and dishes. The softener tablets made the water taste like crap, And it wasn't good for making coffee so my caffeine addict parents had the plumbing reworked so that the softened water went throughout the house except to the outside faucet which was fed directly from the well and that's where they would take water for their coffee every morning.

@@sacredcowbbq1326, it is, wife and I do that just about every stain and the items comes out perfect.
Dawn is my favorite stain remover.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Thanks and you are welcome!
Thank you. I know you're not supposed to mix chemicals but the two I use, Shout and Oxiclean, work even better together. I spray them both on tough stains like bacon grease.
Same, I use shout first and then the oxiclean spray a few mins later because it’s thicker.
It would be interesting to have that as a follow-up test.
There’s a reason why!:
Shout (or dish soap, etc.) breaks up the grease. Oxy breaks down the organic components that stain. Put together, you’ve treated both components that would leave a visible mark.
Best channel on TH-cam!
Even if you're not interested in the product being tested. Please watch these videos. We gotta keep this channel going!
Thanks!
Most of us have a few of these stain removers. The most valuable thing is your chart to which works best on each type of stain. I took a screen shot of it and will print it out and put on inside of cabinet door 👍🏻 Thank You
Agreed. None of them worked on everything, but a couple of them would cover anything you can think of.
You're welcome!

Using the dry powder with hot water and an hour long soak in a small bucket has done wonders for my work clothes.
We've used Shout, Tide, and currently use Oxi Clean. Now I want to try this Pink Stuff, too. Thanks!

I'm from Canada but I use the Vanish stick from the UK and it works amazing. I'd be curious to see how that would have compared to the sprays.

Thanks for the suggestion. Thanks for supporting the channel! I really appreciate it!
For car oil i use toothpaste. Works awesome.
For cooking oil stains, Dawn dish soap has been our stain remover for years, and it’s worked great. (I always get the 4X Platinum.)
@@shabadoo24 As a professional cleaner ALL stain remover products are an absolute con....
All you need is 1/4 scoop of your laundry powder Tide/OMO etc + 1/4 scoop oxyclean/vanish in a bowl of warm water.
THATS IT
Dawn or vodka work well on oil stains
Awesome tests! From personal experience regularly getting oil stains on clothing, my go to method is mixing a small amount of oxyclean and dish soap together in a bowl, putting it on the stain and rubbing it in, letting it soak a while. Works significantly better than any method I have found. My wife is always amazed the stains I’ll get out of our clothing.

As a chef and a home DIYer, all I can say is; thank you so much for doing this.

Todd my wife and I use a stain remover called Folex for laundry and carpet stains. It seems to work better than the others we’ve tried , just our opinion. I think she usually gets it at Lowe’s. Just sharing in case you do a carpet version of this video. Your channel is awesome !!
Thanks! Thanks for the suggestion.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Need to try LA’s totally awesome from dollar general. It works on grease and oil grime like nothing else. Only thing that gets white race suit clean.
Thank you for sharing!
I was thinking the same thing. He tested it in the degreaser video, though it would also fit well here, especially considering the price per oz and how little is required.
Works great for a tire cleaner also
I've always found LA's Totally Awesome products to be fine for the money but average at best to the top brands. The Oxi Clean MaxForce used in this clip is the best I've found at removing oil/grease stains.
I don't usually add a comment to your videos but, I have to say, this was pure class. I also design and build speakers and can easily tell a difference in crossover components. Thank you Danny.

I did all this research a few months back and found that the powder Oxi Clean works the best hands down, at least for me it does. I soak all my whites in it over night and it removes grass stains, grease, oil, blood ect. Even after the cloths has been washed and dried.
👌Thanks!
Thanks for supporting the channel! I really appreciate it!

Just about all old timers used vinegar as laundry & hair rinse.
Minerals are alkalíne so it removes hard water buildup around sinks etc.
need the same for carpet stain removers!

A water softener test....?
@@nathansmith3401, The house I grew up in had a well which delivered great tasting water but was full of minerals and required softener to be added to it in order to wash clothes and dishes. The softener tablets made the water taste like crap, And it wasn't good for making coffee so my caffeine addict parents had the plumbing reworked so that the softened water went throughout the house except to the outside faucet which was fed directly from the well and that's where they would take water for their coffee every morning.
