My late grandfather was a Chrysler dealer mechanic for 30 years. He made all sorts of accessory, head, and belt tools by taking regular or angled wrenches and either cutting them off or using a torch to distort them and then re-tempering them under a milder flame. Not to mention a bunch of stubby wrenches. I think I also inherited a set of antique Snap-On open end offset sockets too.

Suggested video: Next round of gloves - SAFETY WORK GLOVES, those ones with PU or Nitrile coating on palm side. Example brands: HARDY from Harbor Freight, FIRM GRIP from Home Depot, Amazon Basics, HART from Walmart, Mechanix...
I agree, Venom Steel came out with these max grip industrial gloves, they are orange nitrile gloves. I'd love to see how they stack against other nitrile disposable gloves!
I remember when your channel was new. It's a good idea that few have executed well before. You've come a long ways since then. I've since made more informed decisions about the tools I'm buying because of your videos. Thank you.

Todd, you have the best channel on YT. My older brother is a mechanical engineer and I sent him some of your videos and he loves your channel. I’m contractor and I repair all my own equipment (forklifts, pumps, mortar mixers, diesel and gas pickups etc) and your channel is that invaluable with the amount of help it has provided because of what you do. Thank you so very much. I will sent moneyzx
Did you read my mind! I've been trying to do my own "research" into these. But nothing compares to the real world test&results over here. So thanks. And please keep testing tools we need in our lives. Gone are the days we just buy whatever is near or randomly advertised or just cheap with a lot of promises.
Me at 3:50: "Performance Tools?? Oh, no." Me at the end of the video: "Huh, that was actually a pretty good showing by Performance Tools." Project Farm's testing shows us that just as a single brand doesn't have a monopoly on high-performance tools, a single brand also isn't bad across the board. I've learned so much from watching this channel, and I'm very appreciative of the thorough testing and all the compiled information.
@Williamxmr I have too but I keep finding myself with no choice and then they somehow have some crazy tool nobody else has in stock and it totally works. I needed a slide hammer and of course there it is. Worked like a charm. And then again I buy a ratchet that breaks before I even use it...
Learned a long time ago that when removing or installing a serpentine belt, you don't put the belt on all the pulleys except the tensioner, you put it on them all except the idler pulley. That way, when you put slack into the system with the tool, moving the tensioner, you just slip the belt onto the idler. If you try to do this with the tensioner, you will have to smash the belt in between your tool and the tensioner pulley, apply slack, then fight the squished belt onto the pulley while holding slack. Putting it on the idler last keeps the tool out of the way while you're fiddling with the belt.
I desperately need a new tool cart for work but I've been afraid to waste that much money not knowing what is worth it and what isn't. I would definitely be interested in a video on tool carts
@The_R-n-I_Guy I don't know how much room you have but menards has a 36" Masterforce tool box that are built really well. They have the lift latch system which in my opinion is the best. If you don't need all that space, the us general 5 drawer is a fantastic choice. I'm curious how they all compare to each other because I'll be purchasing in a couple months.
I regularly rely on your reviews before buying tools. Even when the exact products you test aren’t available in my country, your videos help me identify the important features, strengths, and weaknesses to consider. You’ve helped me avoid wasting money on subpar tools.
I have a 2007 5.9 Cummins / Ram truck. I purchased a Harbor Freight tension tool. It broke the first time I used it. The spot weld cracked and the 3/8” socket adapter came out of the lever bar. I flagged down a Snap-On dealer and purchased a Lisle 590000 ratcheting tension too. It worked flawlessly and was very easy to use. I highly recommend this Lisle tool. BK
Long time watcher and subscriber. Me and my wife watch your videos. When looking at tools I always come here first for my research., my wife has been looking at getting a stand mixer. She loves how honest and thorough you are with your test and reviews and hopes you'd do one one day. Before she pulls the trigger on one.
This was very helpful and great timing. Last night I was considering GearWrench, Bilitools, HF, and Performance Tool, had a bunch in my amazon cart. Nice to see how ABN was the clear winner here.
I purchased the Gooloo4000 when your first video dropped about the jumpstarters. Its been used plenty of times over the years including dumptrucks, excavator, diesel trucks, etc. Someone on my jobsite needed a jump last week. The jumpstarter was in a tailgate compartment for about 4 months just getting soaked in rainwater. The compartment was literally half filled with water... The Gooloo still worked. What a great product.
The Gooloo has a silly name, but man, does it kick butt every time. The starter motor does some pretty high RPMs compared to the lead acid car battery.
I as well. Bailed out two people with dead batteries on diesel farm tractors with mine and both guys were so impressed they went out and each bought one! Great jumpstarter
Todd, you continue to provide great content and continue not to succumb to monetary sponsorship. You're a rare person in today's world when it seems like everything from politics to business and most things in between has become monetized. Your unselfish rules of conduct have resulted in such a great resource for the rest of us. And great analytical testing methods to yield results that actually mean something. Thank you for your service, both past and present!
The fact that I haven''t missed a single episode on your channel since 2020 is proof of how valuable your channel is to me. Your dedication to weekly uploads and willingness to follow audience input is amazing. Many others share that sentiment. Thanks for your time and work!!
Just because I don't make a comment every time, I watch EVERY one of your videos. Just making myself heard and supporting this channel, easily my most watched channel.
You are my favorite review channel. You get right to the content and don't waste my time. You show the comparisons in action and provide excellent well formatted data. If only I could find this level of information on every product. Thank you.
As a professional automotive technician I purchased my serpentine belt tool from Gearwrench decades ago from Sears. I did not know of any fellow technician who purchased this tool from Snap On. Primarily we all used either the square drive or the socket drive and never used the crowfoot ever. I think the Gearwrench brand will be a great purchase due to price, availability and easy access to warranty if ever needed which is highly unlikely.
@@heystarfish100 It's not defective, that's just how it's built. It's not a very fine toothed ratchet and it gives a lot of arc before clicking. He mentioned it in the video.
@ I can understand limited access points on modern vehicles being sometimes difficult under different models. If I were faced with the socket being out of place I would try to find a work around. A possible solution could be to find the sweet spot for the socket to be so it readily connects without fuss and then marking that location for future use. That is a technique that I have found to be valuable in some applications which gives me the travel I need. I hope that helps.
I've worked on cars for many, many years, but I've never had to change a serpentine belt. I've never needed to use a tool like this and most likely, if i had to, I'd probably use a couple wrenches in line. It's good to know there are special tools for this. In the future, if I do a serpentine belt, I'll buy one of these tools. Great reviews and I appreciate all the hard work you do!
I appreciate the lack of sponsorship but I feel like you should at least have a Patreon or something. You provide a high value product and I am sure people would like to support your work directly.
Quite literally the best product review channel that I keep returning to. Your tests are well thought out and well executed. Your information delivery is concise with no unnecessary filler. Your ability to boil down dozens of hours of testing into one trim, easily digestible video is a skill deserving appreciation.
Find something your really good at, it can be anything. He found out he is master at reviewing with just facts and no fluff. Its not even close to as easy as he makes it look! Luv this Channel! Its a MUST look before I buy Anything!

You know, TH-cam wouldn't be TH-cam without Project Farm. I believe you were the first channel to actually show facts behind the products you test. That makes you THE TH-cam OG! Great work, as always!
Awesome. Glad to see a new tool test. Suggestion: please please add the name of the tool in the video! If someone searches for serpentine belt tools then you really should be one of the first results, take advantage of that! People trust you
He keeps trying to inch further into the clickbait realm where the titles and thumbnails aren't actually informative. Every time people tell him to stop and remind him that he's popular *because* he doesn't do those garbage tactics. Then videos go back to normal for a little while before he tries it again. It takes more effort to come up with a video title that's uninformative, so it's not an accident. It worries me because if he does go completely down the "Top five crazy tools, number 3 will shock you!" route with thumbnails that have the tools in question blurred out with a question mark on top of them, I'll be unsubscribing. It's a shame since the reason we all started watching in the first place is because his reviews were honest and straightforward, and he didn't make his content worse just to cater to the algorithm.
Yes! I keep one in my car. Makes the change so handy! Also found a 12-point socket makes it easier than a 6-point to get the right angle needed. The crow foot wasn't as reliable.
Can you do one on air fresheners? Maybe make multiple like one for car and one for the house. How long they last, how strong the scent. The distance it spreads and price.
Wow, the ABN is out of stock already, this video must have convinced a lot of people to buy it! I actually haven't come these tools and was looking at long ratcheting wrenches but I like the other use cases these products offer. Thanks for the review!

Thank you for working so hard and bringing us such incredible information...I have an old version of the gear wrench which is better than any that I have seen lately.. I Pais an arm and a leg when I bought it but I had I with me when my serpentine belt went and it paid for itself right then....I had a car I used to drag race and I had extras of a lot of things in my toolbox in the trunk for repairs on the weekends at the track.....-John
At first, I thought I didn’t know what this tool was but I actually have one in my garage. I just haven’t used it in forever.🤣 gonna go dig it out now and put it to use. Thanks for the vid as always
My father was a genius mechanic/gear head. He learned how to work on planes while he served under Claire Lee Chennault in the American Volunteer Group. Then he went into the Marine Corps and was setting up the airfield ops on the islands all the way across the Pacific. When working on aircraft engines, mostly old WWII stuff, he would cut a wrench in half and then weld it together at the angle he needed. Inevitably the wrench or tool would finally break. So he would send me to Sears with the tool, a Craftsman, and get the tool replaced. The manager, at the local Sears, collected all of my fathers broken tools. He got a big kick out of them. "What was this used for? What kind of plane?"
This is one of those tools that I'm glad I now know exists. Thankfully, our engine bays aren't too bad, and the belts are pretty easy, but this is good to know about. I'm glad I wear a medium glove size, as smaller hands come in handy for awkwardly placed components and bolts.
I will be putting this on my wish list😊 could you maybe do a review on cheap borescope cameras that plug into your phone I just recently bought a turbocharged air-cooled VW engine and use my buddies little camera and it was helpful in diagnosing bad cylinder rings . powerbuilt tools are awesome, I've been using the same set since I was 17 I'm 42 now I use em everyday
Suggested video - wireless or bluetooth water sensors/alarms - These are placed under sinks, in basements and bathroom floors or any place you want to detect water pooling right away to stop the leak and prevent damages! really important if you have a septic tank or a water main that can backup and flood your finished basement! These can save you a lot of money! test prices, features, free or paid subscription, how they deliver messages text/email or both or app? loudness of the alarm, battery life/drain and how quickly/sensitive it is!
We don’t appreciate this man enough. Not only does he buy and test every product with his own money but he also more often than not destroys them in the process. So he either doesn’t get to keep almost anything he tests, or he has to go through the warranty process with multiple different companies multiple times a year

I was young and dumb at one time. I did outgrow it however, now I'm old and dumb. Crows foot wrenches are the most useless tools ever made. I've had them for forty years and never used them. I have a serpentine belt tool from harbor freight. When i could have used it, I didn't have it. Rather than trying to find it, I found it convenient to use 2 pieces of tie wire and attached a closed end wrench to a crowbar. Worked like a charm. Project Farm is great. Thank you!
I'm liking the chisel idea. Had been pondering testing router bits but more niche and the difficulty of controlling rotational and feed rate speed.... Chisels though way more folks are going to be using a chisel!

This man is better than consumer reports. 😮😮😮 Amazing talent and knowledge.😊
Consumer Reports is garbage. They settled out of court with Suzuki. They have been proven to be biased.
I remember when your channel was new. It's a good idea that few have executed well before. You've come a long ways since then. I've since made more informed decisions about the tools I'm buying because of your videos. Thank you.
I've been watching this channel for YEARS and this is the 1 and ONLY channel that has been true to the "Find out for myself" mission.

Me at 3:50: "Performance Tools?? Oh, no."
Me at the end of the video: "Huh, that was actually a pretty good showing by Performance Tools."
Project Farm's testing shows us that just as a single brand doesn't have a monopoly on high-performance tools, a single brand also isn't bad across the board. I've learned so much from watching this channel, and I'm very appreciative of the thorough testing and all the compiled information.
No joke performance tool quality is all over the place these days.
PT is universal trash. One half decent showing won't change my opinion of them. They are so, so bad.
@@Williamxmr You only say that because the ends of their speed wrenches point away at different angles
@RealBLAlley lol what? I say it because I've bought several trash tools from them and learned my lesson
@Williamxmr I have too but I keep finding myself with no choice and then they somehow have some crazy tool nobody else has in stock and it totally works. I needed a slide hammer and of course there it is. Worked like a charm. And then again I buy a ratchet that breaks before I even use it...
Project Farm is a hit down here in Mexico. ¡Muchas gracias por tus esfuerzos!
Thank you!

A tool cart test would be a great video. 4 and 5 drawer from hf, menards, lowes, hd, amazon etc. Thanks for all the work you put into these videos.
Thanks for the video idea!
Thanks! Glad to hear!
Thanks for being who you are. There is too many willing to sell their opinions, no pride and never taught honesty is everything.
Thank you very much!
BK

This was very helpful and great timing. Last night I was considering GearWrench, Bilitools, HF, and Performance Tool, had a bunch in my amazon cart. Nice to see how ABN was the clear winner here.
Thanks and glad the timing was good!
Thanks for sharing.
The Gooloo has a silly name, but man, does it kick butt every time. The starter motor does some pretty high RPMs compared to the lead acid car battery.
The only thing I don't like is they have no customer service, a phone number that don't work, an email that is not responded to
I as well. Bailed out two people with dead batteries on diesel farm tractors with mine and both guys were so impressed they went out and each bought one! Great jumpstarter

Thanks for sharing.
The only downside of the GW set is the slop in the ratchet. I've had mine about 5 years and that's been my only complaint with it.
@ If it defective call them up and ask for a warranty replacement. They were very helpful to me whenever I needed help with other tools.

I agree it also makes it very hard to find the video again when you end up looking to buy the tool in a year from now!
@@ProjectFarmit would be good if you could number your videos, easier to keep track of them 😊
As a marketing professional I agree wholeheartedly. It will help your SEO out a ton.
Great point! Thank you

I think that manager was being nice to you.
Cutting a wrench in half should have voided the warranty.
@@shawbros Oh no doubt. He loved getting them and finding out what they were for.

This is one of those tools that I'm glad I now know exists. Thankfully, our engine bays aren't too bad, and the belts are pretty easy, but this is good to know about. I'm glad I wear a medium glove size, as smaller hands come in handy for awkwardly placed components and bolts.

We don’t appreciate this man enough. Not only does he buy and test every product with his own money but he also more often than not destroys them in the process.
