    I would just like to add this comment and I hope it can help others.
    For those who are asking if a wifi mesh is compatible with prepaid wifi modems, yes it is. I have two Deco M5 wifi mesh and already tried it with the R051 PLDT prepaid wifi and it works. Just like to let you know that it does not boost the speed of your internet but it creates a stable connection and eliminates dead spot zone. (You can still configure deco to maximize internet speed on the app) I placed my main deco in my office and the other deco was placed 30 meters away from it and it is still stable. Though the speed decreases since I only have two but it can still get me up to 7-10 mbps download speed which is enough for internet surfing. (If near to the main deco I get around 20 - 25 mbps) Of course speed is different if the deco is connected to a wired connection. I get around 45 mbps maximum out of my 50 mbps pldt fibr wired subscription and the least that I can get with the other deco is around 15-20 mbps. The main deco is the only one that is needed to be connected to your main internet modem/router then the other one can just be connected wirelessly to your main deco. I used a cat6 lan cable just to maximize speed.

    Hello, I've just got Sky Ultrfast fibre 450mb and have dead zones in my home and garage - I'm guessing this would fix the issue?
    Also does one of the Decos have to be connected to my router via Ethernet cable or can the 3 Decos I'm planning on ordering all be setup and plugged in around the house without any connected by ethernet please?
    Or is it ONLY during the setup part you connect it via ethernet and once setup you can place them around the home just plugged into a power socket?
    Cheers in advance 👍

    Hi, could some tech savvy good soul please help me out. I setup the main router in the living room - with internet access going pretty well. But, when I tried to add additional routers in the bedrooms , hallways and kitchen, the LED keep pulsing blue, and not green, as the one in the living room does. Apparently all the other routers aren't 'talking' to the one plugged in into the internet.

    An electrician installed 4 Deco M5 APs with wired ethernet uplinks at my bother's restaurant and his TP-Link wifi is horrible. His Sonos system regularly drops out because of wifi connections problems. I started investigating with a wifi scanner and discovered the absolute mess this TP-Link system is. The 4 M5 APs all use the same channel on 2.4GHz (APs should use different channels) they all use channel 8 (should only use channels 1, 6 or 11), and they use a channel width of 40Mhz (only 20MHz should be used in an urban environment with direct neighbors that also have wifi). Similar story on 5GHz: all 4 M5 APs use channel 40. I find no way to change channel widths or channels in de Deco app. I would find that OK if the Deco system is smart enough to do this automatically but apparently it is not.

    This video is useless unless you have the simplest network. It has no mention of how to setup the mesh. If you plug it in to a network that already has a DHCP server will this interfere with it? I have multiple WiFi routers and only the main router has DHCP configured.
    Can I configure it via a web interface or am I tied to the app?
    I could do without the music and having to sign up for a TP-Link account to setup a simple device.

      @@summerrr1 As it says in this video Deco M5 can be used either in router mode or in access point mode. If you have a separate modem and a router and want to use Deco M5 as a router than you have to remove your existing router and hook Deco m5 to the modem and set up to work in router mode.. If you have a combined modem/router unit you will need to hook up Deco M5 to it and to use as a router you need to go into the settings of your existing mode/router and turn off the routing capabilities so that you don't use two routers at the same time but if you want to use Deco M5 in Access Point mode (I would recommend in combined router/modem scenario) then no need to change any setting in existing modem/router box, just continue setting your Deco M5 as a router and at the end go into Deco App and change settings to turn off router mode and enable to work as Access Point mode. When used as Access Point, Deco M5 works as a range booster/extender and all three units work seem less and should provide a good stable connection every where in the house.:) Hope it helps.

    • @zenexaltado2902
      @zenexaltado2902 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. You have full control over everything with their Deco app. You can choose what device can be connected and you can choose what devices you'd like to be on the blacklisted. You can also hide the ssd so that no one could find the wifi. You can even filter some contents on the usage like adult sites. Also, you can restrict someone that is connected with the deco to watch streams and others. You can set up manually the bandwidth and you can put a device to be on high priority so that it will lock the signal to your device and give the maximum speed.
