Good video showing the ups and downs of installing a mesh network, when you are impatient with the TP-App when you can instead wait for the configuration to finish.
I've had the S4 for about 6 months and I had no problems setting it up. The only thing I can think was going wrong with your experience, is either the existing wifi was interfering, or you were plugging the additional Deco's in too early. I hope you got it sorted. I have my main Deco plugged into the fibre modem, with one of the satellites fed with cat6 plugged into the second rj45 on the main Deco. I've also added a cheap eBay M4R to make 4 Deco's, and I get full speed everywhere in my house, and on average I have about 25 permanently connected devices. I used to have a multi access point system and that was a complete pain. Only problem I've found reported, is it seems to only use channel 36 on the 5ghz, so if you have a lot of other networks near you, it could be a problem because you can't manually change it. I don't have any other wifi near me so I haven't had problems. Great product, highly recommended and excellent value.
Hi thanks for doing this setup guide. Does one of the unit have to be plugged into the internet router at all time, or it can be unplugged from the router and be placed in anywhere in the house just like the other 2 units? Thanks
I've been using my 3-pack with a Netgear router provided by my fiber Internet provider for nearly 3 years and paying for it. I'm moving to a Spectrum area where they provide a modem at no charge, so I'll finally get payback on this system by NOT paying for Spectrum's $10 per month router.
Hello what is your ISP speed and what do you max out on tgese for soeeds? Also do you use the ethernet off of one of tge mesh systems and if so what are speeds like on that?
In a sense yes. You should daisy chain them, so modem > tp1 > tp2 > tp3 then you set it in the app as access point. Hereafter you disable your modems WiFi radios. So your tp links acts as remote antennas . Or you can use them as separate routers. Though this gives many issues imo.
Hi, I have question. After you successfully connect all 3, do you unplug and move the 2 that you were going to put in diff room and it will connect to the main #1 deco? What if the 2 is too far from the main deco?
Hi. Yes, that is what I did. Moved the two to diff room. And retest the signal. Sometimes if you moved too far away, just readjust closer back to #1 deco.
so you hard connect each 1 then after that you can put the 3 anywhere in the house correct they dont need to be hard wired to the router after you connect them correct. They work off the router from the other rooms in the house from the rooms where you located the 3 towers?
What do you mean by "backend connection"? And if you change providers, all you have to do is unplug it from one and plug it it the other. The operation of the wifi is independent of the internet connection.
Does it matter if I connect it to ethernet port 1 instead of 2? I mean, mine's working fine but have you tried changing it? Im a bit afraid messing it up.
Great Video, question on Port Forwarding… I’m just purchased the Deco XE75 and I have 6 cameras, a thermostats several WYZE plugs a Ring door bell, Amazon Fire Sticks, Chrome Cast and the list goes on.. It sounds like port forwarding is something that will transfer all your existing WiFi items to the new router, is that so or will I have to go through all of the WiFi items and reconnect to the new router?? Help is needed here… And thanks in advance..
Hi, can you have the decos on the exact same wifi network as the router? So it can switch between the decos and the router seamlessly without having to manually change between networks?
Okay so now they are all set up.. so what happens when you unplug them and take them to the different rooms..? Does one of them need to stay plugged into the modem at all times..? Please actually help!
Once it is setup, you can unplug n move them around. Just like when power is out and came back on, everything should be working like how it was setup before.
depends on what you are connecting it to. If your ISP gave you just a regular modem, you will have to set it up as a router. If you already have a router and just want to use the wifi aspect of it, then you can do it in AP mode.
So i have spectrum and i have 2 of these i bought them so i could return the router i have will that work once i connect to this would i be able too return the spectrum router ?
This is probably a stupid question but I'm illiterate when it comes to technology. I get that you need a modem to connect to for it to work. What I am wondering is do I have to keep my current wifi through buckeye cable for this to work? Or will it work if I don't have service with my current provider?
@@notyourbusiness4387 I have a feeling you are calling your Internet connection "wifi". The Internet connection and the wifi part are two completely seperate entities working together to connect you wirelessly. Yes, you still have to have an Internet connection to get on the Internet. Without the Internet connection, all you have is a wireless network for your house.
Hi! Thanks for your video. Just to check, can I still connect to the main modem from the internet service provider? I'm planning to setup a mesh system for my devices, and connect a RJ45 to my laptop for gaming purposes.
Can anyone tell me does one of the decos need to be directly linked to your modum at all times, or can it be disconnected after initially setting it up? Thanks!
What if I have a very slow internet speed like 10-20 mbits/seconds, will 3 mesh wifi units divide the speed by 3 if I’m at the far opposite of my WiFi coverage?
I have connected two S3 successfully but cant get the other one to connect. my log in wont give me the option to connect the third one after. How do I do this please?
Hi, If I have a TV on the bedroom where my second deco is plugged in, Do I set the wifi to this deco or to the main router wifi which is connected in my office room ?
My security system doorbell camera says my connection is slow - it's a high-speed fiber internet, not slow. It keeps disconnecting and is a PITA to get reconnected. My firmware is up-to-date. The primary Deco is downstairs in the rear of my townhouse, the first satellite is at the front door where the doorbell camera is located. The 3rd is upstairs for 2 TVs and guests. I have 17 devices - what am I missing? You mentioned something about security systems and associated video cameras - I don't understand any of that... HELP! 😢
I have connected a switch with my video security cameras via Cat5 to the main router, but the router doesn't recognize them. They worked fine plugged into my previous router. Do you know why this occurs?
Hi, can this be setup as one connection only, I don't want to get transfered from one Deco connection the other when I'm passing through the house as this will cause a temporary loss of Internet I just want same connection, I mean all 3 Deco's to work as a same device connection? Thanks
2:40 Do these replace the modem of your provider or daisy chain off of it? My Spectrum modem has an antenna, so would the main TP link replace the antenna coming off the router?
You're being charged $5 a month for the wifi service. You need to bring it back to the store and get a modem only, then buy your own router like the one in this video.
Did anyone mentioned here or in this video, that there is a speed 100Mbps speed LIMIT for this devices ?! That E4 device has ethernet port with 100Mbps max speed (and you'll never get max for sure) and because of that, whole mesh system is limited and it's not recomended if you have fiber optics with speed around or greater than 500 mbps.... Someone should mentioned that most important info!

Thank you for posting this. I am not tech savvy at all and if it wasn’t for experts like you we would be lost so thanks for walking us through this
Glad to help

Is the first deco to be connected to main router by LAN cable only?
Hello what is your ISP speed and what do you max out on tgese for soeeds? Also do you use the ethernet off of one of tge mesh systems and if so what are speeds like on that?
I the only thing that confuses me is I thought this was gonna increase my existing wifi/router strength but this seem like a different wifi entirely
All 3 act as one network, so by spreading them out in your home, it WILL effectively increase the coverage of your network.
When it's set up, should I be able to extend the WiFi signal down the length of the garden into an outdoor garden room.

Can I use Three deco each connected with cable on three floor to create one WiFi network in the House ?
Thank you, does the first Deco need to have the ethernet cable plugged when all has been configured please?
Yes that’s where your internet is coming from
Does it matter if I connect it to ethernet port 1 instead of 2? I mean, mine's working fine but have you tried changing it?
Im a bit afraid messing it up.
You can change port 1 to 2. No issue
Hi Simon. Well done, this is a most helpful instruction video. Thank you very much.
Deco won't let you change the channel width... this is more for non technical people but is a good and simple device

If there is export file port forwarding, do that. If not, more likely you have to re-program again
Does the main one have to stay plugged into the modem
Hello,im planning to buy S4 or x20 or x55,but my internet speed is only 50mbps,which one do i need? Will be S4 enough to get my maximum speed 50mbps?
Hi, So Deco #1 always has to be connected to the router? or when set up is done the system working all wireless?
I need to know this too lol
I watched your video and it's good. But when they are all connected, do you unplug the 2 connected decos and replug them in to the other rooms?
That's my question too

Yes, this mesh will shave one WiFi SSID and password. So you do not need to change between WiFi
Hello. I have a question..do i need to conect the internet cable? I saw other videos. And they did it wireless

Great tutorial video. For small house is that posible fix single Deco AC1200?thanks.
very possible depending on the size and the material the walls are made out of.
Do you set up as wifi router or AP mode? Also is connecting them with Ethernet gonna let you do ethernet backhaul?
depends on what you are connecting it to. If your ISP gave you just a regular modem, you will have to set it up as a router. If you already have a router and just want to use the wifi aspect of it, then you can do it in AP mode.

I think that's what makes it fast? I'm going to hook em up. I'll let u know

Do I have to have current service through my internet service provider for these to work. Or will it work with just using my old modem ?

Hi can I ask why when I connect a new deco it says it cannot be found? I’m just trying to set it up in the room across but it still wont be found
Hi! Thanks for your video. Just to check, can I still connect to the main modem from the internet service provider?
I'm planning to setup a mesh system for my devices, and connect a RJ45 to my laptop for gaming purposes.
Yes, you still can do that
Hello Sir,
Can we keep these Mesh router in a Horizontal position...!
Hello,do i lose call signal(Whatsapp,Telegram,Messenger etc...) when switching between nodes(walking in the house between rooms)?
Can we add more than 3 deco?
Can anyone tell me does one of the decos need to be directly linked to your modum at all times, or can it be disconnected after initially setting it up? Thanks!
You need one deco to connect into modem from your ISP
What if I have a very slow internet speed like 10-20 mbits/seconds, will 3 mesh wifi units divide the speed by 3 if I’m at the far opposite of my WiFi coverage?
No, you'll get whatever speed your Internet connection is minus any bandwidth being used by other connected devices.
My modem is working but the light on my s4 mesh deco are a solid red. How do I fix this?
Meaning you are not getting internet from modem. Try shutdown modem and router. Turn on modem first, wait 10 mins and turn on router next
You can reset also the mesh deco
I have connected two S3 successfully but cant get the other one to connect. my log in wont give me the option to connect the third one after. How do I do this please?
Useful video, thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Since the newest 1.51 firmware update the s4 is now stuck in 100mbps. How to go back a firmware version?
Have you try hard reset ?
Hi, I have a question for you: is it possible to switch between channels (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz) manually? Or just automatically?
You can have both 2.4 n 5. If you just want 5, disable the 2.4 wifi
What is your mobile case?
??

PS - the security system runs on 2.4!
I have connected a switch with my video security cameras via Cat5 to the main router, but the router doesn't recognize them. They worked fine plugged into my previous router. Do you know why this occurs?
Maybe the IP address is different ?
Amazing Video! Great explanation
You are welcome. Glad the video helped.
I have a different app. mine makes it very difficult to add the other modules
Hi, can this be setup as one connection only, I don't want to get transfered from one Deco connection the other when I'm passing through the house as this will cause a temporary loss of Internet
I just want same connection, I mean all 3 Deco's to work as a same device connection?
Thanks
This is exactly what this product is intended for, a single wifi network extended throughout the whole house.
Would you recommend this or deco p9
Deco p9

ethernet port cannot be 100 mbps hard wired. maybe the device ethernet only up to 100mbps ? in today's time, most ethernet port is 1000mbps
Mine turned red is that bad
yes. meaning no internet
I can not add extra
Anyone got WhatsApp to help me sort my 3 pack out? My ring doorbell still has rubbish WiFi like it isn't even trying to connect to the deco hub 😔
What is the app called lol
next time cut the loading stuff
Product refuses to create new network despite hours of troubleshooting. Total garbage. Returned.
