Corrie today is nothing like it was in the '70's,80's or'90's,then the drama was blended with subtle humour just like Brookside and Take the High Road used to do with their storylines.
The latest £1 note was issued featuring Isaac Newton, ABBA were UK no 1 with Take A Chance On Me, we had snow, I turned 14 & did a paper round for pocket money...............and I loved watching The Street in Feb '78, very happy days! 💕
1:58 It's odd seeing Bill Tarmey loitering in the background in the Rovers without a single line of script, when he would later become one of Corrie's biggest stars and landlord of the pub to boot! Bless him, Bill certainly paid his dues before he became a Corrie legend, with all the glory that star status brought him. It was well deserved - he was a great actor and deserves his place in the Street Hall of Fame with it's most iconic and best-loved characters through the ages. THANKS for another wonderful upload! XXX
Thank you so much for all episodes im bedbound & i love em used to watch them when i was a kid with my mum & she passed 24yrs ago pure magic n class ur a legend😊
Thanks for all these wonderful episodes. This is what entertainment should be, great characters and believable storylines. I'm so glad that I found this great channel!
I can’t thank you enough for making all these accessible 🥰 I wasn’t in the country for most of 77 & 78 so these are all new to me..I am enjoying every minute 🥰🥰😃😘
Elsie, Gail and Suzie's storyline in this was the best ever. They should have had a spin off series........Where is the missing bit where Hilda pokes the broom through the ceiling?
Uncle Alberts chiropodist Sally (Suzan Farmer) was really successful in Hammer Films & The Saint with Roger Moore etc…She was married to Ian McShane (Lovejoy) in the late 60s. It’s really sad work dried up for her in the late 80s & she became a reclusive alcoholic & sadly died in 2017 of cancer aged 75. 🙂
Ah I thought I recognised her . She was very different in an episode of Blakes 7 in the same year as this . And her character in this is charming & forthright , I think she would have been good for Ken.
People had a certain moral standard back them - like how Elsie didnt like the girls talking really nasty about Hilda - My mum was the same she hated her sister but would never ever talk bad about her in front of me
Love Renee, she was a superb character. Hated when they killed her off, her and Alf were fab together. So were Renee and Bet. One of my all time favourite characters.
I really can't stand Rita. Gives Hilda a hard time for causing trouble with neighbourly squabbles, yet her sparring partner Elsie comes in and not a word! I hate the way she was always sneering towards the Ogdens.
I only knew Rita from the new cories and this is a completely different charecter than who she is later in life. I'm shocked that she was ever this way...wow
strangely i never liked the idea of them being married but looking back i appreciate it more apparently the producers decided it wasnt working shame she played the part well
I know Rita could be condescending at times and l am not her greatest fan but she did show her kind side when she leant hilda her hat and coat.a nice touch .
I think that was done knowing full well that if Hilda turned up dressed well, she might lose and she wanted Hilda to show Elsie up anyway. A myriad of reasons.
agree he was a likeable character we lost bert len albert and stan within the space of a year owing to actors deaths or off screeen scandals personally i dont think street was quite the same again plus elsie and annie also deciding to quit
Just noticed at 2:32:40 that the jewellery shop assistant was played by the future Bert Tilsley! Have seen Jack Duckworth as an background extra in the Rovers too 😅
When did the lock on 5 change from lol right to left? It's on the right now but when Ivy lives there it's on the ok left. It looks to be the same door though the years.... Anyone notice?
Renee was a great character. I loved her friendship with Bett. I could never understand why they got rid of her character. She made a much better partner for Alf than Audrey did. She was so funny and pleasant.
Eddie makes me giggle 🤭 with his laughter 😂 they are not jack’s pigeons in Elsie loft are they lol 😂 i love ❤️ the old ones of the 70s thanks 🙏 for sharing
The walls and rooms endlessly seem to move not to mention staircases and in recent times how many people are living in Kens and Eileen's houses extra rooms an all😅
a great actor always loved watching hilda and eddie together she thought very much off eddie a bit like the son she never had and you couldnt say a bad word against hilda eddie was around ..brilliant
The quality of acting is brilliant. The soaps today need to take stock.
Nobody fluffed their lines as much as Elsie but she was still brilliant
@@notonyournelly5475i notice alf does a lot

Rabbit64SJ I turned 14 in January 1978. I worked in a newsagents at the weekend and I got £10. Happy days as you say.
@@kato2644 £10 was a lot of money back in '78, you were doing well! And you were born the month before me. Great to hear from you. ☺

@@kato2644 I totally agree with you. 😉
Oh wow was Isaac Newton from Newton and Ridleys ?
There’s nothing better than having a Corrie 70s marathon.
I’m forever in your debt Mr Slinger ❤

Indeed & giving hope to extras everywhere!
Awww, Bert Tilsley in the jewellers. Thankyou for your efforts in keeping us all entertained, much appreciated.
Right? I think he was on police protection and his whole Bert Tilsley identity was a cover up for being a snitch on a big jewelery robbery
Thanks for this ProfessionalGun 66. You’re a gem!
RIP Johnny Briggs. A true street legend.
Gosh. I only recently found out that he died. May her RIEP

Bill Tarmey in the Rovers before he was cast as regular character Jack Duckworth in 79.
Thanks for uploading. Feb 8th is missing from this compilation.
I did mention it a year ago in an above comment, cheers.

Rita always thought a lot of herself and loved lording it over the Ogdens. She always came across as really spiteful.
I always thought she could be a right cow to mavis too
Madam Toffee Shop! Bet said so. She said, "you really think you're a cut above, don't you?"🥰
I only knew Rita from the new cories and this is a completely different charecter than who she is later in life. I'm shocked that she was ever this way...wow
It breaks my heart the way Hilda is treated by everyone
hilda and eddie they where like mother and son deep down hilda thought very highly of eddie and eddie always had hilda s back ...brilliant together
Renee was a really nice likable character. Funny at times too. Shame she had to die. I only appreciated her after months of watching these
@@CandyMinx13 With Deirdre getting on my nerves too.. I fast forward her all the time! oops..

Hilarious at the end, Hilda dressed up and Elsie dressed down 😅 Thank You for sharing
Just realized. Have the viewer's ever seen Alf's house? I don't remember ever seeing it.
There was outside shot of him pulling up in the car once and an inside one of him in his kitchen.
Peter Dudley working in the jewellers, before he became Bert Tilsley

She wanted to do down Elsie, Hilda's opponent in court.
Just spotted Bert Tinsley in the jewllers. Bert was a lovely guy.taken too soon.
agree he was a likeable character we lost bert len albert and stan within the space of a year owing to actors deaths or off screeen scandals personally i dont think street was quite the same again plus elsie and annie also deciding to quit
3rd episode of the month is missing, the 8th of Feb, can be seen elsewhere.
1:54:41, somebody forgot to put the wall back between elsie and the faircloughs
Just noticed at 2:32:40 that the jewellery shop assistant was played by the future Bert Tilsley! Have seen Jack Duckworth as an background extra in the Rovers too 😅
Love Hilda's laugh 😍
This reminds me of my childhood by heck.
It's a shame. René wasn't kept on as her character was funny and likeable

Alf is the sweetest.

1:26:20 Ken talking about being 81!!
Coronation street is the best soap
I think the same.
Yes, I missed Hilda with the broom.. 🤣
Fab, fab, fab fab.
How much shorter could those tops get?
Poor Hilda. Such a brave lost soul in a world that is far too hard and complicated.
I's that Bert tilsley in the jewelry shop?
Yes playing a diff charecter. Before he was Burt
Eddie still didn't do hildas toast😂
Ken is disrespectful to Uncle Albert, but poses as his great protector ...0
1:05:03 have we seen Peter and Sue lately?
February 8 is missing
Even Stan has his limit.
Do you have august 1978 please thanks
Sorry, only one episode which is included in the September bundle.
2:32:33 aww there is Burt Tilsley as another character.
I watched yet never noticed!
I WISH I WAS ON CORRIE IN THE 1970'S
1:37:10 that is an unfortunate choice of coat and button placement 😂🫣
Am I going nuts, or is Hilda banging on the wrong wall!? Surely it's the opposite wall she shared with Elsie?
I dont think so because Hilda's Muriel is on the Corner shop (n15) side if I am not mistaken
I was thinking it was the wrong wall too! It should be the wall on the left as you enter her bedroom! 🤔I think that would be Rene or Bets wall! 🤣
The walls and rooms endlessly seem to move not to mention staircases and in recent times how many people are living in Kens and Eileen's houses extra rooms an all😅
what was Alfs mumble to renee after her saying it would be a mistake to marry him , 1Hour 57 ?
A rat in the loft - a perfect excuse to have birds standing round in next to nothing.

Bert Tilsley working as a shop assisstant! He sold Rene her engagement ring!
Hiw many steps from the open of the corner shop door to the curtain at the back of the shop. 3 steps. 😂
How come no one ever put Albert Tatlock in his place?
I thought the same! Maybe as he was always telling everyone he was a war hero they put up with his rudeness!
Old person's priviledge. My dad can be rude as hell but at 85 - you just have to deal with it.
Why is Rita sticking her nose in Ken’s love life all of a sudden? She’s so judgmental! 🙄
Bet all set to have a nice sausage supper before going to sleep then that accident driving home happens - She never did have much luck
😂
Emily implying Stan and HIlda are feckless., Cheek of her .
Giggling girls 😍
