Jack was abusive in his own way, lying, cheating with other women.. they were well matched but they sy love and hate is intertwined. As they grew older, the love was more evident.
I think the Mike Baldwin/Susan Barlow storyline was actually the beginning of the end of Corrie. Sorry folks. I have been binge-watching from about 1978 and loving old Corrie. I think this is when Corrie began to lose the plot.
Thinking back to all those years ago. I didn't completely get the storyline around Mike getting wed to Ken's daughter considering that he had an affair with Deirdre only a couple of years before. He either had a brass neck or was completely lacking in morals.
I agree, Mike's behaviour is similar to a psychopath with this storyline, anything to rile Ken Barlow, first his Mrs then his daughter! Just ridiculous, and not in Mike's character
The 1985-86 version of Susan Barlow has to be one of the strangest casting decisions in the history of Corrie. And the flirting/romantic scenes between Susan and Mike Baldwin are just beyond cringe.😵💫 🤮
Tracy blasting out Shaky on the record player, what about her tairpes! Earlier in the year when she went missing, Deirdre said she wanted a cassette, Madonna or Howard Jones lol.
And not remotely Scottish.. do they think we’re not regular viewers of the show to suddenly change the actress so drastically! Yep she was dreadful, Podmore said so in his book - didn’t work at all
Audrey says it’s far too flashy, and far too much about the ring they were looking at, but then she gets one that is! Too bad this show didn’t allow the audience to see it! This is the only show that I have ever seen that does not show engagement rings!!
I had leg cramps but hadn't thought anything of them but they turned out to be a blood clot in the legs that broke off and travelled to my lungs. You dont like to think things like that can happen to you! I had heard of them but it wasn't a thing I thought would happen to me but I survived it and I am fit and well now living my life!
The actress who played Susan was the original Susan when Anne Reid played Ken's first wife, Val. However, she was bloody annoying with that simpering breathless voice and wasn't much of an actress. The match up with Baldwin was ridiculous really, no connection whatsoever. Apparently the actors didn't think too much of each other either.
If you mean driving the car with Audrey, then no. Peter Dean who played Pete Beale had appeared in this in previous episodes. As far as I know, there is no Peter Fowler.

If Ken had looked after his children instead of packing them off to Scotland maybe Susan would not be looking for a father figure in Mike.
Deidre was also looking for a father figure and she married him!😂😂😂😂
Well said. It's not surprising.. had to be Mike to have a massive storyline at the time.
Blooming hell Vera's voice goes right through you, I don't think she could speak at a normal volume if she tried.

Vera is a heck of an actress too. The best are still acting in 1985, of course we're missing a few! It's all still very entertaining in 1985!!!
Thank you so much.
I often wonder what happened to the function room at the Rovers it just seemed to disappear
If you mean the 'Select' it was in these episodes, door next to the 'Snug', just never used. The Select was the equivalent of a saloon bar, without a bar, and waitress service, at extra cost.
The Select disappeared after the fire of 86, and the refurbishment saw the snug disappear as the Rovers bar area was made larger

She's like a character out of the muppet show. Loud, brash and opens her mouth far too regularly without engaging her brain.
Most women are actually like Vera in places like Preston
Mike’s couch must have caused a few retakes, squeaky fart noises interrupting the dialogue!

It was rather ridiculous, and Mike seemed to lose his edge when Susan came along. I think the whole thing was to perpetuate the Barlow-Baldwin feud.
I just wrote that earlier, it was ridiculous.
The actress who played Susan here doesn't help. She has zero charisma and cannot act for toffee...
Nearly got the scene from the end of ‘Open All Hours’ when Susan left the shop, it was dark and Alf looked at his watch...
