This is very helpful. IF YOURS STILL DOES NOT WORK... mine didn't either. It was old, and the battery was good, but it wouldn't work. I bought a new one that is the same make/model but newer and put in the same codes as I did earlier and it worked the first time. My old one had yellow lights behind the buttons. New ones are red. I spent an hour thinking I was doing it wrong. I wasn't. It was bad. You're not crazy!

Good video: More tips I learned the hard way. 1. Get correct information on what your openers ID code is (in my case it was the number 3 -had a Chamberlean manufacture date 2005 to present with a purple smart button) 2. When entering you 4 digit code of your choosing , hitting # , then hitting door opener ID number (for me 3), then hitting # you have 5 seconds to do this or you must start over. 3. Do NOT attach the keypad first- when setting up- have it 2 feet from the garage door unit box.-helps original setup reception. 4. After the unit is working properly, then attach to the outside of the house. Hope this helps.

After trying a dozen times to program this keypad, I figured it was broke and should return it. But before I did I decided to remove the battery for a few seconds, replace it and try programming it again. It worked that time.
Sometimes those keypads can be kind of finicky. LOL good job figuring it out!
I never comment on posts but I have to do it this time. It's been 2 months at our new place and couldn't set the pin pad. I watched many many videos of how to. Nothing worked. I gave up. By accident this video came on one day and I said let's try it. Worked from the first shot. Thank you for posting this!

This is Nan. Thank you Richard! I have been trying for a few weeks to get my Clicker to work with my Chamberlain Opener. I have read and re-read directions. I have watched numerous videos to no avail. Today, after trying again for an hour I came upon your video. Thank you so much!!!! No one else had ever mentioned pressing "0" a second or third time!!!! All I was missing on all of my initial attempts was pressing that dang "0" a second time The directions said, "If opener does not function, repeat programming." It should say, "If opener does not function, Watch Richard's video!" You made my day.... actually my week!"

After a frustrating hour trying to follow Liftmasters instructions I came across yours. Clear and concise and even though I did not have the Instruction book I guessed the product code on my second try.

You’re the shit man! Was trying to program this for an hour and couldn’t figure it out. The step I missed was the opener ID. Didn’t click to me was the number corresponding to the year was the ID. I thought you need to create it yourself. You’re a lifesaver and saved me a trip back to homedepot to return this!

Your instructions are better than Chamberlin's.. There is no mention about hitting the 0 three times in the chamberlain manual???? I've been trying for 30 min. I just watched your video and programmed it in 30 sec. Hey Chamberlain, Send this guy his check.

Instructions say 0 except 00 for Genie and Overhead Door.
It took us 3 years to figure this out. You video did it. The instructions we have did not say hit the 0 button 3 times. Our opener has been sitting unused for 3 years.

Thanks so much! We moved to a new house and they gave us the wrong PIN number and this helped us reset to our own and now it works. An extra plus for showing all the ID numbers for each motor type!

Followed these same steps with the right code for my opener and still nothing 😭 , did a few times now any button I press on the keypad opens the door now
Close the door. Wait 30 seconds. Clear the memory on the pad. Then redo it.
You just about got it!
Did you ever fix the problem? This is the same issue I am having. I cleared out the memory and started it over. Same thing keeps happening. Now I am a master at resetting just to have any button work. 😢
Incredible_simi Okay I had this same issue. Must have been a timing delay because right after I programmed it I hit the first number and the garage opened. I hit a random number, it closes. Hit another random number and it opened. Got frustrated. Cursed a bit. Came back to this video to read other comments. Tried it again to see and it will not open or close until I use the actual code I put in. Played with it some more and still won’t work without the actual code. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Thank you for showing your manual and not just telling us what your I.D is. Almost all other videos just say "We'll have to know our I.D number or do each step a possible 9 times because it'll be 1-9 till you find your I.D"
I was able to pause and look for my number which in our case is 3 being that we have a 2009 model.

You rock! It worked on the first try!! I was so surprised considering the age of this clicker. I found it in an old storage container and didn't think it would work. It worked on the first try! I can't tell you how many times I have accidentally locked myself out of the house and wished I had done this a long time ago. I use to hide a key until I had a break in...I'm not even sure if it can be technically called a break-in considering I left a key under my "welcome" mat. ;)

Seeing the manual in the video made a huge difference for me. Very clear explanation. So much better than anything Chamberlain as on their site.

Richard.... you are the "BOMB.COM",...lol. I finally got my keyless universal keypad to work. I just needed to follow your instructions fully and it worked like a charm.
