Those Logans are good news - quite a few mini-cabbers around where I live getting into the diesels because they sip diesel at a low rate and those engines can do the miles the Starship Enterprise can. I drive a Duster diesel on a 13 plate @82k miles and refuses to go below 46mpg and costs so little to maintain
Can't understand why you keep trading really good cars off bud, just give em a try at retail for say 2 weeks, there not going to devalue in that time, you keep giving other dealers easy profit, yeah if it's a dog trade it but that merc and freelander were proper retail cars, you could have been another 4k in front on those 2 I'd have thought, I mean suff usually sells in a few days I find, looks like on that merc, freelander deal you've done everyone a favour, except yourself.

I'd have said the cheaper price was a non p ex cash price and she's already had the discount in an over allowance, I'd not be doing 2 over allowances, tbh most dealers wouldn't do swopsise they'd want a decent amount of cash, you can't trust people, could be really nasty problems on their swopper, let's hope swift doesn't come back with warranty stuff to ad insult to injury.
Maybe Facebook is different in your area bud but I find it a nightmare, is it still available, my budget is half that price, all that nonsense, you can't get any work done for replying to loonies.

I am privileged to have a 2009 SL350 here in Perth, Australia. It has 47,000 miles and everything works. Its a beautiful car to drive when the temperature is right. I know all the things that can go wrong with it, but since I own a service and repair workshop specialising in European cars, I don't really fear anything going wrong as we have the expertise to fix it. With regular use and 6 month servicing regardless of miles, it has been fantastic for the 2 years I have owned it.
Might just be me, but if I were the lady with the Freelander, given you were so willing to come up £500 above the p/ex value - when you realised the pricing mistake on the Swift and the fact you were doing her and her partner a very big solid on the Mercedes - I'd have foregone the £500 over you offered quite happily. Kind of seems like they've milked you a bit on this one James, given you've taken all of the difficulty of shifting the Merc and been generous on the Freelander by essentially offering a swap deal 🤷 I get they have horrible horrible circumstances, but you were under no obligation other than being a nice bloke to help them

I bought a 9,000 mile 2014 Dacia Logan MCV 0.9 TCE top spec for £5200 in August 2018. With crazy second hand car prices now, I think I'd get similar money today for it even with almost 50k miles. They drive quite well, not that much worse than a Mk6 Golf (the other car I drive) - you can chuck it around in corners and you'll continue where you wanted to go! The downsides for me are less comfortable seats, less soundproofing, more wind noise, weak sound system and the pre-2015 ones have old fashioned wiper arms and it's difficult to find a front wiper blade design that doesn't start skipping after few months of use. But you can forgive it for all that when you remember I've basically had free motoring for the last 6 years!

(they had inherited the car and didn't know the maximum value they could get - a Dacia dealer was unsurprisingly desperate to buy it, but the seller wanted it to go to a good home). But private bargains like this exist, and it's a lot easier when the cars are a little obscure like the Logan - because many buyers ignore them. Cars like the Fiesta will always be keenly priced because of their popularity. Interestingly though, I think my mum got a good deal when she bought a low mileage 2018 Fiesta 1.0 at an MG dealer in 2020 for £9k - not a bad price at the time, and it went on to be worth around £1000 more than that on Autotrader in '21 and '22.

Mercedes never made “everything an AMG” as you hinted to. It is a SL350 AMG Line or AMG sport depending on the age. “Amg line” is no different to bmw m sport. Audi s line. Ford st line. Amg line does not make the car amg it gives it a body styling kit. A different set of wheels and some nicer seats and trims. The AMG is still the top engine with top power and doesn’t have the word sport or line after it.

The Logan sounds more like a proper car. The owner evened blacked the tyres. Do people actually use cruise control in the UK. I tried it but it is only useful to me in the dead of night when there is no one else about. Anyway very interesting how you operate.
Cruise control is great in 20mph zones and 30mph if its a very long straight wide road. I also find it good on the motorway just set to 70mph. If other people did the same the motorway would be great. People just seem to speed up and slow down so much on the motorway i fund it really baffling
I bought a car from cazoo it’s had a fuel rail issue we have a warranty but it seems they don’t want to pay out can we claim from cazoo for the first 6 months we have only had the car for 4 months and I believe cazoo should put it right at there expense
The dealer has to prove the fault wasn't there in the first 30 days, if it wasn't it's a bit tricky for you tbh, you need to do them a letter stating the problems giving them a chance yo fix it, if they don't you can start a county court claim on line for about 100 quid, be quick, cazoo are going bust and probably won't last this year out.
Why would you put difference prices in different places for the same vehicle? Red flag that is for me as a customer. Also that Freelander is the Dynamic model nice unique model with a decent subtle body kit
Paddles are aftermarket, so’s the front grille, not sure about the wheels… nice motor though, got one myself, 3 years of trouble free motoring and as you said, surprisingly frugal on fuel. You should keep it 😉

Interesting concept to buy toys first and worry about your family afterwards.......... I went the other way. Boring vehicles but if I drop dead my family can buy pretty much any car they want.

You did get a 4 year old car for £5200 that's an absolute bargain. Someone showed me a 3 year old 1.0 fiesta edge for £12k around a year ago.
