Love the video have the same bike little tip. Remove the clutch cable from the clip inside the fairing and run it to the left said. No need for the extension. And when reinstalling tighten the 2 top bolts on the bracket for the handle bar clamps snug the bottom put the fairing back together electrical and all and you can set your bars with the fairing back on and using a ball end Allen key you can tighten the bottom bolts to spec and lock them where you want them.
So can I do a bar adjustment by just removing the switch panel or do I need to split the batwing? Always left the top tight and just did the bottom to move them in the past
I searched a lot of videos and this was by far the best. My bars were Arlen Ness and the bike was an Ultra Limited but the process was the same for the most part. This helped tremendously. Thx for helping the rest of us!
This was invaluable information. I took on the project of installing 12" bars on my 22 Ultra Limited. This video was step by step and saved me a ton of time. There are some wiring differences with the Ultra, and heated grips. Some plugs are the same so take pictures before you disconnect. Going just 2" taller than stock, I was able to reroute the clutch and brake lines and did not need the clutch cable extension. Over 2" would need either the clutch extension, or a longer cable and a longer brake line. Thanks for putting this video together, it was a great help.
Wow, Sir, you are a beast. I am definitely letting someone doing that. I got the parts here but after seeing you doing that, there is no way I can replicate that. Hats off to you. Thank you so very much.
Subscribed because of this video. Just installed the dominator 12” meat hooks on my 21 FLHXS. Thank you for taking the time to make this. Helped me tremendously.
I would like to say great video, I used this video to put bars on my 2021 flhxs. Worked like a charm. the hardest part was the fishing of the wires through the bars. i used the lube that you use for Running wires through conduit for your house instead of grease. worked great. instead of using the grips i opted for heated grips, all working now and i love it. thanks for the great video!
Awesome video. I had more trouble getting the left control off the handle bars. I could not get the top button off the switch housing. Actually a relatively easy job
Like i said last week great to have you back awesome video. i have a 2021 street glide 41,000 miles also do my maintenance but i always learn when i watch your videos.

Amazing tutorial- thank you for taking the time to share this. How do you keep all the bolts organized when removing everything to be sure the correct bolts go back as needed. That’s what I would mess up. Thanks again.
Where did you get the clutch extender? Great video, very good explaining and direct. It was helpful taking your time also. I’m going to try doing it myself now.
Thanks for posting this video. After one-year, do you wish you had replaced the riser bushings? I am about to install 12” mini-apes on my ‘23 SGS and was told the stock riser bushings will not last long due to the increased wear/leverage that taller bars will create.
Just did a TH-cam search and this was 1st to come up, watched and saved... bought the pre wired 12" meathooks for my 21 flhxs now to take some time to do this. GREAT VIDEO/CONTENT thank you for taking the time to make this, looking forward to more stuff you put out!...👍👍
@@AdventuresWithWampa I took my time and it was a booger... but I did it without getting bent out of shape... 2 days off and on working on it and that was from start to finish not bad for a darn owner operator truck driver... lol
Man this is a great vid, getting ready to put the same bars on my 22 Tri Glide, will be interesting to see the wiring/"under the hood" differences if any?
nice job! I’m installing KST Patriot 12” bars. They are 1 1/2 “ thick and I’m having a problem fitting the fairing over them without grinding the lower part of the inner fairing. Now it looks like the ignition cover needs trimming too. Maybe I bought the wrong bars! If you could please share with me your thoughts!
Those 1 1/2" are going to be an issue with the fairing and ignition cover. The only thought I have is make sure the clutch and brake lines are secured to the bottom of the bars where they enter into the fairing area. There is a gap under the bars where the inner fairing and ignition cover come together that works well for routing those lines. This will create quite a bit more space around the rest of the handlebar to possibly accommodate the larger diameter without having to cut.
This video has helped me to much but i cant figure out what to do with that rubber bar gripper, sorry dont know what to call it. its was on the original bars near the clamp. Do i just cut this off...I cant slide mine low enough to still use.
I finally cut it off carefully with a utility knife. It caused issues with getting the fairing to seat properly because of the larger diameter of the handlebars. You can then zip tie the clutch line in place to the riser bolt as was done at the factory.
Just finished swaping handlebars on my 2023 street glide, everything works lights, horn, ignition but start button is not, bike won't start. Any suggestions?
Excellent video, thanks for sharing! Question: I had a Harley dealer install 12" bars (Factory 47) on a 2021 SGS (I bought it out of state). They said they had to run a new clutch cable (full length). The cable they installed was too long and is coiled up in the fairing and sticks - found out when I got home. I want to replace the full length clutch cable with a single good quality cable. What is the new length I should buy? I looked and found inconsistent data on stock length. I measured with a string, best I could and found 74-76" to be the new length, but that is much longer than what Magnum says is stock +4. Magnum say it should be 70". I have a 70" cable and it looks too short when holding it up. I would like to only buy 1 cable if possible. Thanks in advance.
Question for you, when I remove the outer fairing and then remove all the bolts for the inner fairing can I lift and tilt the inner fairing and rest it forward without disconnecting any of the electrical plugs? or would I need to disconnect all the electrical connectors to tilt it ?
Excellent video sir! '22 Street Glide Special here as well. Also in Utah (Eagle Mountain to boot). 😊❓Question: The one part of the video you didn't show is when you remount the fairing/console over both the clutch line and brake line...I'm having a hell of a time determining the positioning of where the cables should be (and I've gone back and researched/watched the video several times. Since I have 12's now I had to remove this plastic sheathe that was there. Any advice and/or picture of how you nestled the brake line/clutch line right under the stereo/key fob? Thanks soo much sir!
Harley offers a clutch cable for touring models with sidecar. It’s +4” and typically half the price of the regular one. At least it was on my 2008. They won’t tell you that though.
Just came across your page some great videos, on the 2015 Street Glide you put 10" apes on without additional cabling etc, would it work for 12" bars on a 2014 Street Glide cable wise, any help appreciated.
Good job. I’d add, the menu button doesn’t pop up. Put a little tension on it, then pull/slide it towards the end of the bar. I can see a lot of buttons becoming useless just pulling up.
Some people will tell you to cut the zip ties and the stock line will be ok. It can be done without changing it out but its awful tight. I had 10s on my 2015 and did not change the hydraulic clutch line and it was fine, barely. I would recommend changing the hydraulic clutch line. It's an easy swap and bleed.
Couple things….great video. But never use an impact with Torx fasteners. You’ll learn after you do enough of them. Also, use a spray bottle with Dawn water mixed on the wire harnesses. A lot easier pulling/pushing through the bars.
So I’m going to get 10 inch Paul yaffe monkey bars on my 23 ultra limited would you suggest getting the pre wired? And will I have to extend clutch and brake cable do you think? Thank you
I'm in the process of adding Tallboy bars to my 22 SGS. So far no real issues, except that clutch cable is very stiff. I assume you ended up removing that rubber shoe that wrapped around the handle bars? Did you have do any extra bending/reforming of the clutch cable?
Awesome and very detailed video. I feel more comfortable doing my 12inch bars myself . Thank you for passing your knowledge forward. Greatly appreciated 🙏
It's probably a good idea to pull the main fuse. I didn't and had no issues. All of the work is done after separating wire junctions that use quick disconnects.
Great video! How much height did you gain at the grips from stock to the 12” Paul Yaffe’s? I sat on my bike, closed my eyes, and held out my arms to a comfortable position. My hands were 6” above my stock setup, 2022 FLHT. I tried to guess with your video and it looks to be about what I need. Thanks!
‘M going to do the same Yaffe 12” bars on my 22’ SGS. How long did it take to install the handlebar upgrade? My dealer is telling 6hrs, I’ve been told it should take 4hrs max Thanks!
It took a lot longer because of recording the process and recording in detail the prepping and wiring video. If it wasn't for creating the content I could do it in about 3-4 hours.
The service manual will tell you to pull the main fuse or unhook the battery for just about everything you do on the motorcycle. I did not since it was all plug and play leads.
Hats off to anyone doing this themselves versus paying a professional to do it.
