This is the reason I don't want to try lace front wigs. I know if I like it too much and notice people treat me better and I'm getting more oppurtunity I'm going to start feeling funny about my natural self. I'll stay to my other protective styles and keep my self-worth in tact.

You are so brave for speaking up like this!!!! Soooo many people LOVE talking about colorism, featurism, texturism, etc. But, hardly anyone actually talks about the ways internalized anti-blackness affects THEM personally in their OWN self-image. This is amazing! They always conveniently miss that part.... I know from personal experience it's a really difficult thing to admit to yourself let alone to other people (whether they're loved ones or strangers), but someone's gotta start these difficult conversations if we want to truly set ourselves free!

This was soooo good! Got me thinking about why I stopped wearing wigs, but that's just apart of the reasons why I do the things I do now.

Ngl.. this definitely woke somthing up in me... because i feel the same way about my hair, if its not slicked dwn with braids or in a wash and go with define curls i dont feel comfortable at all, never could go out with my hair in its 100% natural state with no product... but now i gotta ask myself why ? 🤔..i really like these thought provoking videos.

I resonate with this so much! I cut off all of my hair two years ago because I kept straightening my hair too much and I didn’t appreciate my natural curl Pattern once I cut my hair I vowed to never wear my natural hair straight again and to appreciate my beautiful hair. Black is beautiful 🖤 thank you for this video.

Keep speaking your truth despite the hate comments and video responses. You are behind honest and talking about the things nobody wants to admit to. These videos are so soothing and refreshing . I feel seen . I used to constantly have a perm and when I was old enough for a weave, I never showed my natural hair for 4 years. I have locs now and I love them. Wish I did it sooner

This resonates soooooo much! I even went bald to release the blonde, but went back because I didn’t like what I saw. I got lost in it and it ultimately rips your hair. I loved the look, attention, and the fact I COULD rock it. But deep down I’m ready to change my health from the inside out. I’m still blonde, but before seeing this I said I was growing this out and releasing the blonde.. blessings and kudos to you! ❤️

This is so brave, loving, and self-aware! Especially in this age when younger Black generations are watching you! I think if content creators are out getting awards and recognition for thriving as Black content creators, we should hold them to this standard (with compassion - everyone’s on a journey to loving themselves as am I)!

This is how I felt after I broke my white frames. I felt they became who I was from the exoticness it gave from a dark-skinned black boy pulling them off. I realized 1 I can pull of many other things and 2 hair grows and changes and so do replaceable frames. You can always keep creating looks that are you. You don't have to limit yourself to something just because others praise it

Hey Tarek, I love the purple pants you wore for your birthday. I am graduating from USC in a couple of months and I want to wear them but I am having trouble with the sizing. How did the sizing go for you ? I'm 5'9.5 with a 32 waist but I'm not sure about the conversion is because it's based on women's or men's clothing and im not sure which gender the pants were created for.
