Followed this video to the end. Replaced all the LED strips and now my 4 year old TV is back to new! Thank you sir for making a great repair video. Even the kids were amazed that I could now fix TVs!
I just did my 58” Hisense-Roku last night. It went perfectly. I kept the parts in order of disassemble to work in reverse order. So BigDogg you are the man, all the info and tips were incredibly awesome and details. Everything you explained was all the detail needed to get this job done. My screen lit back up and is back online functioning perfectly. Total material cost was $23, I also bought the same LED tester for $30 and squeeze suction cups 4 3/8” dia from Home Depot. $18 so I have the tester and cups to help friends and family !! BigDogg you are a true mechanic technician , serious and able to joke as you go. BigDogg stay healthy and rock on !!!🎉
I followed all the steps on this back light issue & put back together but now the screen has lightning bolts. What did I do wrong & how can I fix this? LED’s work but scratching my head on the screen
Amazing video! You explained everything in so much detail. I was able to fix my TV when everyone else had lost hope. It was a huge task and that I was able to do with very few tools. It was a pain but ultimately so satisfying! Followed your video step by step. Couldn't have been possible without your video. Thank you so much!
Thank you for taking the time to clearly explain how to repair this TV my son brought it over to me in disappointment and could not believe that in just two years it had gone out I ordered he lights on Amazon and in just two days they arrived I took my time just like you stressed on you video to make sure everything was put back correctly and it worked great Thanks again for you help Freddy
What a great repair video my 2 yr old hisense 55 inch with black screen and flashing power button was going to get replaced until I found this, sved me £300-£400 Thanks bigdog you're the man
People frequently asks me why they don't last long anymore. Besides these tv's built so cheap, the main reason for the backlight dying so prematurely is that the leds are so overdriven to a stress point, particularly at the factory backlight settings. I have repaired lots of tv's with this issue and once I do I suggest to my customers to bring the backlight intensity down to about 70% or use the energy savings mode and the adaptive light sensor on if possible and the life of those leds will increase significantly. The key is to keep them from running at stress mode as much as possible and they will last. Thanks for demonstrating the diagnosis and the repair procedure so well. It is important for people to have a way to learn how to repair them themselves and not just throw them away when they can still b see repaired at a reasonable cost. I wish I had the ability to record and edit video tutorials like you do. Keep the great work 👍🏻.
Yo, bigdog, now a new subscriber here. I just bought this 58" for $50 to try and troubleshoot and was going through the power rails/main etc wasting my time for hours when I did some googling and found these vids. I did try looking in the dark with a flashlight but I didn't look dead center. After watching this video, I did again and looked in the center and sure as hell I can see the Sharp Roku TV on the screen. Thanks man. Much appreciated!

Thanks so much for such a great detailed video! As a former repair tech this was awesome to see. My Sharp Roku just started the same problem as this one in your video. Now I’ll be able to get this repaired easily. Thanks again for being so thorough! Keep up the great videos brother!
Thank you for taking the time to clearly explain the finer details involved with diagnosing & repairing these units. You are hands down my favorite TV repair man. Cheers from the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
You just fixed my problom got the same tv my fluke jumped up to 222 volts testing that led backlihght output ordered my new strips off shop jimmy. Man you are awsome
So glad I found this video!! Just fixed my tv! Should have seen my face when the LEDs did not turn on after replacing like yours did… little did I know I unplugged them at the beginning from the power board 😂😂😂
I found a 58R6E3 (I guess later model?) out by the dumpster and it has the black screen but powers on thing. Thank you so much for this video, I'm learning how to fix electronics and this is perfect. Hope I can get it back and operational, I've been wanting a TV!
I had the exact same symptoms and decided to give the repair a shot. I’ve got experience a while back fixing iPhones from the 3G to the iPhone 7 and then got out of it. This is definitely not a repair for someone with zero experience, but with a little experience and common sense it’s a breeze. I bought from the website he suggested and got the parts quick and they worked great. I got the suction cups too which give a lot of peace of mind. The screen itself is delicate and you’re SOL if you break it.
Great video, I'll bet these Hisense TV's bring you TONS of business... I'm beside myself on how my 55r6g died in just 13 months of minimal use. Never had a TV in my life go that fast. I can't even get the backlights because everyone is sold out lmao. As a consumer, I will NEVER buy a Hisense again.....
I have the same model tv with same issue. i replaced the power board but was not successful. This tv sat for 8 months, couldn't find the heart to throw it out. Ran into this thread, ordered the parts, now tv is working like new. Thanks.
Great video again!! same TV, I have which is LED issue... awaiting for LED strips to arrive and will try and tackle this job. great info.. thank you thank you thank you :D thumbs up!!!
Big Dog another top notch repair. That TV seems built very cheap, cutting corners like using glue and tape instead of proper fasteners for strips and backing paper. It made the repair much more difficult and tedious. I could tell you were using a lot of self discipline not to get worked up. Lots of labor and skill required, moreso than better quality units. But the gratification of seeing that picture come on at the end makes it all worthwhile. You are a true craftsman in this age of nobody who knows how to fix things anymore. 👍👍👍
Sometimes some tape is all that is needed.. TV's today have so few parts and most are easily replaced, that's why a lot are so cheap, they want you to buy new and not repair.. I remember when I was younger, TV's then were so heavy and then they were cheaper to have repaired then buy new...
Man great video and very helpful. I haven’t hardly worked on TVs since CRTs went obsolete. That flashlight trick worked great. It displays Hisense roku with a flashlight against the screen and it has power at the led plug just like yours. Time to get some LEDs.
@bigdog8882 I am super happy... I replaced all of the LED strips today on my Sharp 58" TV and BOOOM everything works without issues!!!! TV has life again Thank Master Bigdog!! took me about 2.5 hours working really slow like you said and triple checked everything when putting it back.. I almost forgot to put the plastic frame goes between the diffuser and LED screen!!! now I m little more confident on working on my 75" sony TV lol.. thats my next project!!
BigBob, great video and it really helped me. That said I wanted to tell you about the suppliers video. They said you can cut the white paper over the light stips and not need to remove the whole paper. It saves lots of work.
Greetings to you and all, excellent repair very detailed 👍🏾, A friend purchased a 70” ONN ROKU, his daughter had the hair dryer on and tripped the circuit breaker in the house fuse panel, and now the 2 year young 70” ONN ROKU Model# 100012585 has the Black screen flash with 13 Led flashes, however I performed a reset by disconnecting the power cord from the wall outlet and holding down the on/off toggle switch for30 seconds and then replugged into the outlet & the tv powered back on and worked as it should’ve,but not for long👎🏿, so it’s back to the black screen flash, just performed the flash light test and there are images, I’m about to open it up and test the backlights now. Thanks for all of your videos regarding the TCL family of Tv sets 👍🏾
Wanted to thank you. I was able to replace my backlights because of your video and excellent instructions. They had the led strips I needed on amazon. I ran into one issue where I believe one of the suction cups I had placed on the screen made a white spot the size of a golf ball almost like a dead spot on the screen. It was white with a ring around it that looked like liquid metal when I ran my finger across it. The rest of the entire display was fine other than this spot. I unplugged the tv feeling defeated and some what accomplished because I was able to do most of the repair. I unplugged the tv for about half a day and came back to turn it on and to my surprise the spot was gone and the tv was perfect. Any explanation as to what happen and how it fixed it self would be awesome.
Yes the suction cup spot will go away because the pressure released itself. I tell people that all the time. They just don't seem to believe me. I never had one that had a permanent suction cup mark on the screen. The spot ALWAYS goes away in an hour or two. NICE WORK Westside. Thanks for being a subscriber too. Blessings!
Good video Big Dog! I don't recommend doing this yourself though, I was cruising until I removed the frame around the screen. It's very difficult even using care to not damage the screen because of the fragility of the edge of the screen. This isn't my first rodeo with TV repair, and I didn't use anything sharp and wasn't forceful and somehow a crack occurred along the top edge. These TVs are just too cheaply made so beware of the frame removal and those driver board connectors (COFs) like Big Dog said! It takes some experience to get this right, so again don't be shocked if you screw it up, live and learn! 6 hours of my life I'll never get back lol. Also you cannot get a replacement screen/panel anymore from hisense/sharp 2022. Some tips: 1. Get a helper! This is really a 2 person job, could make a big difference. 2. FRAME REMOVAL IS CRITICAL! Do NOT use the screen for leverage or press on it while pulling the frame up to remove. NO TOUCHY THE SCREEN EDGE OR ANYHWERE WHEN REMOVING THE FRAME! TV is toast if you do this, again, can't even buy a replacement screen/panel anymore. 3.VERY careful with the driver board connectors (chip on film connectors ,clear brown plastic & black tabs on side). Pay utmost attention to this when you're putting it back together as that is when you're most likely to damage them by smashing them down on accident with frame pieces. 4. Pull the white paper that's on the LEDs off from top to bottom, not left to right. 5. Get an LED tester!
Don’t ever buying the Hisense tv brand because this is sub contractor for by the Best Buy corporation, they have very bad in % of controlled for inspection in product qualities.Especially their tv LEDs diode parts brands screen in backlighting they’re using in it.These backlight diodes parts only can last to about 3 years of using about 3-4 hours viewing at the most even tv are using in moderates screen brightness in many hours brightness screen lighting.Buy LG,Samsung,Sony LED tv brands have the best LEDs diodes parts strips for their best backlight screens.
The tutorial was great. Make sure you get all the screws off the bottom bevel. I think there were actually 9. I missed the last corner one, which made things go left. Also make sure you get the right LED strips. I was sent vertical strips rather than the horizontal that came with the tv. They were actually the correct fir, but the wire Was different. Doesn’t matter in there end. That missed 9th screw killed it.
I have the same tv I have a multimeter and when I put it on the meter it’s at zero but when I cut it on it goes below the zero I was wondering if I have a faulty power board
Just did a Sharp 50" Roku with no picture I got for free that also had water damage to the driver board connections. Replaced one bad LED and screen had two small vertical lines that I could do nothing with. Gave it to a buddy of mine for his work shop. It was built just like the 58". Always enjoy your video, Thanks BD.
I have the same tv it flashes the red light and nothing .so which way would you go? No lights anywhere. the tv is almost 2 years old no warranty. The tv stayed on a lot. Ppl who sleep the tv on need your help thanks
Great channel. have a 58 inch Hisense tv. Red LED light goes on for one long and two short durations. Replaced Power, mother and Tcon boards with no change. No image, no sound, just the LED light going on one long and two short. Any idea?
Wow hands down best tutorial out there! It’s amazing that you have videos on so many other TVs. Got lucky my multimeter had a diode setting to test leds. Thanks again for this amazing vid to help me repair my tv. You earned my sub fr! Also how do you know what type leds to buy??
Same thing happened to me last night. Was watching a movie and it like dimmed all of a sudden and flickered and went out. Now can't get passed logo without turning off
@@bigdog8882 you were correct there were some Allen headed screws that I missed that I thought were not in there to begin with I thought they were empty holes but change the power board change the little l-shaped board and the center board everything except for the Wi-Fi board and the TV will still not power on I get a red light but it only blinks when I try to power it on
Video was cool. Couple times hand was in the way could not see what you were doing. So does sharp know about this problem I see your selling the strips but what's the point if it goes out again. Nobody really says why they go bad and what's the fix other than replacing the strips.
I have a sharp 58 inch roku tv. Screen went black no sound. I unplugged the tv waited 24 hours and plugged it back in. Now it turns on says "sharp roku tv" than Screen goes black again. 7 seconds later it repeats continuously. I changed the power supply board and power cable. No change. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Got here because my sharp version has a couple times now had black screen for all tuned OTA channels everything else works have to reprogrammed Ota then a month or so later black again. And have to reprogram again. So good info Doesn't help Off to figure wth
Hola, saludos profesor ,tengo un tv sharp que me da error de standby pero mi tv no tiene controles externos y no sé si el reset se puede lograr desde el control el modelo es Lc-58q7370u
I don't think they sell that particular one that I have anymore. But you can go online, Amazon, Ebay, etc. to find a similar one. But any bright flashlight will do. Thanks.
I have the same tv mine just turns on and off I tried to reset it that didn't work I even replaced the power supply but nothing is working I really don't want to buy a new tv🙄🙄🙄any suggestions
We've got the hisense model and it's only 13 months old now just out of warranty unfortunately. It turns on and the screen turns completely blue and no picture. Tried all the resets recommended bought a new tcon board and a main board for it. Replaced them both and nothing changed? I'm west of you over by Moline Illinois. Do you know any quality TV repair person around me
I have the sharp 58. My problem is the TV seems to try to boot up but it never completes the process. I have the Sharp-Roku flash on the screen every 20 or so seconds
Just ran into this problem tonight. Tv picture started fading out then blacked out while watching a movie. Logo comes up and then turns off like you described. Did you get it fixed?
@@bigdog8882 actually one of the clear caps of the old LEDs popped off and was under the white backing sheet. Once I got that guy out of there it was good as new. Thanks a million 👏

Blessings!
@@bigdog8882 You the man!
great repair video. Lots of work for one light. Thats a bad thing. Not sure if I want to take the time.
Some tips:
So just get a new 📺 then. Gotcha!
Great video, I will have to do the same soon on a 5 years old sharp tv😅
The tutorial was great. Make sure you get all the screws off the bottom bevel. I think there were actually 9. I missed the last corner one, which made things go left. Also make sure you get the right LED strips. I was sent vertical strips rather than the horizontal that came with the tv. They were actually the correct fir, but the wire
Was different. Doesn’t matter in there end. That missed 9th screw killed it.
Thanks for all u do your the best.
I have the same tv I have a multimeter and when I put it on the meter it’s at zero but when I cut it on it goes below the zero I was wondering if I have a faulty power board
What are you checking my friend?
Just did a Sharp 50" Roku with no picture I got for free that also had water damage to the driver board connections. Replaced one bad
LED and screen had two small vertical lines that I could do nothing with. Gave it to a buddy of mine for his work shop. It was built just like the 58". Always enjoy your video, Thanks BD.
Need to look up the "tape" fix for the lines..
@@regularguyfixes3142 I did and had no luck.
@@whizzo55 then I believe that's caused by damage to those bottom strips.
Great video man finally i found a fix for my tv thank you
Great detailed video. I'm a retired technician and still like to do my own repairs. Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it
I have the same tv it flashes the red light and nothing .so which way would you go? No lights anywhere. the tv is almost 2 years old no warranty. The tv stayed on a lot. Ppl who sleep the tv on need your help thanks
Great channel. have a 58 inch Hisense tv. Red LED light goes on for one long and two short durations. Replaced Power, mother and Tcon boards with no change. No image, no sound, just the LED light going on one long and two short. Any idea?
I’ve got the same damn problem. No change after replacing the boards. Likely a back light problem like on here.
If you can see an image on the screen with a bright flashlight up to it, then you have a backlight problem.
@@bigdog8882 thanks. Exactly the problem.
Wow hands down best tutorial out there! It’s amazing that you have videos on so many other TVs. Got lucky my multimeter had a diode setting to test leds. Thanks again for this amazing vid to help me repair my tv. You earned my sub fr! Also how do you know what type leds to buy??
Have to check the voltage of working led in TV set. Usually 3v or 6v, size is smd2835 or 3528 I think.
@@bigdog8882 appreciate you man!
My TV same model has this same issue,, but the logo turns on for half a second then turns back off, what do you think it is? LED's?
Same thing happened to me last night. Was watching a movie and it like dimmed all of a sudden and flickered and went out. Now can't get passed logo without turning off
Is there some sort of trick to removing the power button? Mine is stuck and I can't seem to pull it out.
You have to wiggle it.
Great video, I could have repaired the same TV by following it!
The guy who called about the VCR's must have called from a payphone😆😆
Hey bud I only just found this 🤨 great fix
Good video but my back cover is not coming off with all the screws removed I'm confused
Look carefully, you must have a screw or 2 in.
@@bigdog8882 you were correct there were some Allen headed screws that I missed that I thought were not in there to begin with I thought they were empty holes but change the power board change the little l-shaped board and the center board everything except for the Wi-Fi board and the TV will still not power on I get a red light but it only blinks when I try to power it on
great video much thanks got my tv working again
Video was cool. Couple times hand was in the way could not see what you were doing. So does sharp know about this problem I see your selling the strips but what's the point if it goes out again. Nobody really says why they go bad and what's the fix other than replacing the strips.
TV's are just like everything else; they don't last forever.
Thank you
Worked like a charm thanks man great content.
It was very helpful. Thank you.
Got here because my sharp version has a couple times now had black screen for all tuned OTA channels everything else works have to reprogrammed Ota then a month or so later black again. And have to reprogram again.
So good info
Doesn't help
Off to figure wth
My screen still shows it's just dark as hell and I have all the settings turned up would that be a bad backlight also
Most likely
Good job bro, thank you for your help.
What if the logo is flashing intermittent with the red light?
Thank you big bruh I was worried the problem was with the main board.
Excellent repair vidéo, always nice to see, you're the boss man !
Good Teacher. Thank you!
Sprayway glass cleaner can also be found at Walmart
Hola, saludos profesor ,tengo un tv sharp que me da error de standby pero mi tv no tiene controles externos y no sé si el reset se puede lograr desde el control el modelo es Lc-58q7370u
Where can I find a flashlight like the one you used over the screen?
I don't think they sell that particular one that I have anymore. But you can go online, Amazon, Ebay, etc. to find a similar one. But any bright flashlight will do. Thanks.
I have a lg 55uj7700 that keeps power cycling on and off at different times. Any clue
Where could you get a new screen for this tv?
what kind of prying tools you us?
Just Google * "Pry Tools for Phone"*
Worked perfectly! Thanks BigDogg8882!

@@TheBigTimeBoiler sorry but no. Holiday sales made me get a new tv
I have this exact TV, followed the tutorial, super smooth, but I can now see the new LEDs slightly. Any suggestions on how to remedy that?
Did you put the screen spacers back in? If u forget to put those back in, it will cause that.
@@bigdog8882 actually one of the clear caps of the old LEDs popped off and was under the white backing sheet. Once I got that guy out of there it was good as new. Thanks a million 👏
Where does one find this pry tool that you used to remove the frame from this Sharp tv to get at the LED strips?
I have a Sharp 80” LC-80LE632U that has half of the screen has a great shadow over the entire right side. I can barely see an image below it. If you know what part this is or how to fix it I would appreciate it. Matt
