Kids aren't toys you put in a box for a few years then pick up when you want to to play with them again. They're people. They abandoned her for basically her entire life and just assume she's gonna leave her family to live with a bunch of strangers? They could have kept a relationship, even with her living in another house, they just didn't care enough. And now they're angry because their bad parenting is being thrown back in their faces.

I love how he said "If my sister eve needed a place to stay she could stay with me"

I agree. OP not holding his sister accountable for bad parents is a good thing.

I get why the parents did this, they were young parents, and didn't have the time and money to support both kids when one had major health problems. And they believed their younger daughter wouldn't live very long, so a temporary situation became a long term situation. Once OP started school it would have been difficult to uproot her.
But the parents are still massive a-holes for HOW they went about this. They dropped OP off, didn't tell her why, and just never came back. She said she only saw them a few times over the years. You'd think they would have made it a point to maintain that relationship with their daughter, at least visiting on weekends, keeping up communication and keeping her apprised of the situation. Instead, they ghosted a toddler. That's fucked up.
The fact that a situation is difficult, even impossible, does NOT excuse anyone for the choices they make. In situations like that, their choices are more critical than ever. Thay made a lot of bad decisions, they can't escape that now. And her father yelling about respect, lol... like he's ever earned that. At least her mother apologized (which doesn't make anything right, but still, there's some self awareness there).

Young parents? The dad was 31 when OP was born and 35 when he was abandoned. The mother was 22 and 26. At what point are parents not "young parents anymore?

I get that some children's conditions take up so much of a parents time and energy that they need help raising the others.... but if this was the case, then the parents should have kept visiting, kept in contact, and kept the relationship strong.
