She continued creating content after the first meme. I think continued content was what created the liability. If it was a one off picture, it probably would have been different.
But even still, this shows the risk of uploading your photos and videos to social media. Once you post it, your image can be manipulated and reused without knowing it.
@@johnn.5033 It wasn't her fault people used her likeness for inappropriate memes. People took it upon themselves to do that. Employers can't fire you over sh*t you can't control.

The concept of people getting fired over making silly content is so weird to me, like I would get it if it's in any way interrupting their work or they're being racist/homophobic or whatever else because it's not a good look for the company and you wouldn't want someone like that working for you, but if it's just a thing they do on the side for fun why is it such a big deal? Like, if you tell your boss you play golf with a friend group on the weekends as a hobby you wouldn't get fired lol.
Yeah. It's pretty awful of this bank to fire her for something out of her control after she explained it too.

This makes me think about Cristine (Simply Nailogical) who is a fulltime TH-camr and still has a day job as a crime statistics analyst. Her boss was cool about her (and her boyfriend who is also an employee at the same place) doing TH-cam. Her boss even appeared in one of Cristine's videos. It is all about the leadership culture and the organizational culture.
I think it was because they wanted to be seen as a "serious business" that wasn't affiliated with an "immature viral celebrity" or something superficial like that. Sucks for them cause she would've made that bank soooooooo popular.

In my country, that's illegal dismissal. You can't get fired for something out of your control. In fact, they should protect you because if they think you being a meme is a damage to the brand's name then they should know that it's damaging to you too. Pathetic corporate ugh.

Are your from the PH? Unfortunately in Texas they are an at will state meaning they can fire you for no reason which is pretty pathetic.
Um, actually, even in backwards Texas, they can't fire you for just "anything"
@@RachelSWhite it's at will, which means they don't have to give you a reason. NH is the same way. If you presume it's a discriminatory firing, think you can prove it, and can afford a good lawyer, then you can fight it if you want. However, it's not worth it for most of us.
Most states in the US have "at will" laws meaning that you can get fired or quit without notice. Their are specific situations where termination is illegal (ie retaliation for reporting a crime or violation) but generally they don't need a reason. Just another way the US is garbage.
