@@sadiqprince7083 they really don't. Firstly, banks don't require "Influencers". They advertise using interest rates and loan agreements (to individuals), or if they're working with large corporations or governments, why would they need a tiktoker?
Secondly, Influencers are actually controlled by businesses. Influencers are seen as high risk methods of product endorsement, because they are unpredictable and often do silly things.
As such, businesses require Influencers to sign multiple agreements to monitor their public image and behaviour. If the Influencer messes up, they get dropped.

I agree it is mean. But I don’t think that was all that met their eyes. It was clear that she wanted to indulge in the new found attention, and being a meme has its consequences on the dignity of someone. So if the bank had clients go to her, they probably won’t take her seriously or be like “oh, you’re the kombucha girl!” and it may or may not affect the image and productivity of the bank as a corporate space. I dont think that was a risk they were willing to take.

For all we know they did offer her a different position but she refused to take it (this has happened to at least 1 reality TV star and she represented herself poorly to get pity and public backlash on their company, when there was more to the story). Also, its a company with a goal to make money..... Being selfish is part of their motto. The fact is that she could misrepresent the company based on nothing she had done nor the company. A big client may refuse to do business with the bank because of her and the company did nothing wrong and neither did all the other staffs involved. So yes, they are being selfish and when you think about it, they made the right decision. She is happy and the bank get back to its status quo.

The fact that she got fired for becoming a meme from something that wasn’t even vulgar or offensive that she posted is ridiculous to me. Like other ppl took her content and manipulated it. How is that her fault?? That being said, I’m glad to hear it was only up from there. I guess everything happens for a reason.
I think it was less the “content” that her video/likeness was being used for, and more the liability of a having an employee become so public for something that isn’t associated with the standards of the company. It was probably more to ensure that anything that the image was used didn’t come into affiliation with the bank.
She continued creating content after the first meme. I think continued content was what created the liability. If it was a one off picture, it probably would have been different.
But even still, this shows the risk of uploading your photos and videos to social media. Once you post it, your image can be manipulated and reused without knowing it.

This is eye-opening for people who make memes of other people without their knowledge. Corporate image or not. She had no control over what happened to her. Wanting to have a comedic online presence has nothing to do with how people chose to use her image. That's horrible. The concept of people getting fired over making silly content is so weird to me, like I would get it if it's in any way interrupting their work or they're being racist/homophobic or whatever else because it's not a good look for the company and you wouldn't want someone like that working for you, but if it's just a thing they do on the side for fun why is it such a big deal? This makes me think about Cristine (Simply Nailogical) who is a fulltime TH-camr and still has a day job as a crime statistics analyst. Her boss was cool about her (and her boyfriend who is also an employee at the same place) doing TH-cam. Her boss even appeared in one of Cristine's videos. It is all about the leadership culture and the organizational culture.
I think it was because they wanted to be seen as a "serious business" that wasn't affiliated with an "immature viral celebrity" or something superficial like that. Sucks for them cause she would've made that bank soooooooo popular.
