    One of the most iconic and awesome intro's ever, and he had to change it....because he already played it much more straight forward a few years back, keeping the "iconic" parts more intact. He's evolved his interpretation quite a bit over the years. ..yes the intro is iconic but everybody has heard the original literally thousands of times, and can also hear the original literally anytime they want.... ORRRR also go back to his older videos, where he's playing it much more straight forward (and btw got no where near as many likes/views). I felt adding this context, to help understand his choices on this cover, was important.

    Interesting to see the various reactions to his lastest verson of toxicity. Whats weird is that the very first time i heard this recent specific version of his (sunday morning) , i thought that my TH-cam was delayed loading or something. I wasnt crazy about it until about 2/3 the way through. *BUT* then i listened the next day a few times, and absolutely loved it from beginning to end. It grew on me, big time. Music can be funny that way.

    Did he not put up before he started the song that this was not how to play this? That he was just having fun? What didn't you get about that?

    This why he said in beginning
    " this is not how u should play this song
    But We should have fun shall we"
    To me starting rolls felt little odd maybe because toxicity's amazing intro have very deep imprint on my mind.

  • @ib777
    @ib777 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I have massive respect for his skills, but musically El Estepario Is not for me. I believe he rarely improves drum parts of famous songs. His arrangements are surely more complicated and impressive technically , but serving the music is a totally different thing.
    With some exceptions, I really don't like his overplayed style. That being said, once again, I still have massive respect for the man, for his amazing talent and for the obvious amount of study he put into the instrument.

    Felt like he was a bit late at points to begin with but c’mon. Mans a genius and he’ll know that but just shows he is human. At least its not edited to be perfectly on

  • @JL-go3
    @JL-go3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think he's a great drummer, but in this age off social media more and more people are using their traditionally rythymic and support instruments as lead instruments.
    His playing is fantastic but feel like it's a lead drum solo, not the solid foundation that the rest of the band builds apon.

  • @Oneway_myway
    @Oneway_myway ปีที่แล้ว

    I felt the same way about some of it. The rhythm got lost in his drumming at times, imo. Ain’t hating on it, though.

  • @mattdrewdrums
    @mattdrewdrums ปีที่แล้ว +3

    His channel is about showmanship and technicality more than anything. It may not be everyone's bag of tea, but I actually respect it. His signature IS to overplay the f*ck out of everything. And, I mean...look at his channel's success. People, including me, seem to really enjoy tasteful, hyper-technical playing. It takes more skill (and, to me, is more entertaining) to implement your own style into songs than to play them verbatum.
    That being said, I do kind of agree some of the changes weren't too conducive to the song, this time around.

    • @TheGhostNotePodcast

      Dude he’s amazing. I always praise him in all my reactions to him but I am seriously in awe in every video. I love that his channel is evolving and the production is going up but it’s incredible to know he can still get better when he’s already got max stats and we are privileged to be able to witness his growth

      @mattdrewdrums ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheGhostNotePodcast Yeah. I love how he's got the chops of a metal drummer, but still plays with incredible feel and dynamics. He's just a really well-rounded player.
