I love EES, actually. He´s an insane drummer, the best that i know in fact. But your analisis of his cover is very interesting and i learn very much things that EES made in his covers. The Pretender is one of my favourites Foo Fighters songs, and this cover is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I´m in shock with his perfect tempo, consistence, clear and smooth sound. You’re referring to quarter notes. Think of it as a 4 note bar. Quarters are 4 notes per bar, 8ths are 8 notes per bar, and 16ths are 16 notes per bar. So, from what I can tell, he’s playing 8ths on the high hat because he’s playing 8 notes per bar. Hope that helps 😁
