If the drummers that don’t like him knew his story, and how he suffered, how he fell into deep depression, maybe they wouldn’t be so harsh on him. And awesome cover of a 40-YEAR-OLD SONG! Alex did this 40 years ago! Alex is a monster too!
The drummers that don't like him are the sort that you don't want in a band long term , they have the God like complex of arrogance that's see's their skillset remain stagnant for their careers , instead of having their minds open to evolve and better themselves - like this man does . Jealousy is nothing but a handbrake for juvenile minds put up on a pedestal.
When he was speaking of exhaust he was talking about the intro. Alex Van Halen imitated an idling Harley Davison motor.. For me, as an old Drummer that was absolute Genius.. My Pop was a lifelong Harley man. I always thought that Harley 's had a cool percussive rhythm to them. Alex Merely decided to play that exhaust rhythm on Drums! MAGNIFICENT!!!!!
@camc5483 3 people in my neighborhood have many, many chickens. That means about a dozen Roosters crowing, starting at 4 a.m. until 8 a.m...... I 'll take one Harley at 5 a.m. everyday....
He is being an inspiration to up and coming drummers and clearly showing what hard dedicated practice can achieve . "Showy" is a term used by those who clearly envy what they haven't got - A Hard practiced dedicated skill set .
I believe the main reason mainstream drummers don't like him is because he can play the same as they can. The part that bothers them is he can do it with a $1,500 set and they have to use a $20,000 set to be a to do it.
Grrat reaction! Interesting too. I also have drummer friends (im a guitarist, and have played some drums 🤏). a few of my friends/acquaintances have the not uncommon "salty reaction" but upon further probing with them I find they haven't watched his TH-cam channel, they've only watched his Instagram and Facebook vids, which is the flashy bubble gum stuff that gets the average non drummer to subscribe. An actual deep dive on his TH-cam page, and long form videos, will show His real drumming talent. Latin Jazz, limb independence, etc. He's trying to make a living off social media drumming which Obviously requirescovers that he appeal to a wide non drumming audience.. It always surprises me when adults are not able to figure this out.
People such as us with our eyes open shouldn't have to stand up for this amazing hard working talent , he gives back a lot into the drumming community . Others just need to get off their high horse , swallow their pride and watch his TH-cam videos to see that the man is Humble and the real deal . Wish him the best of success 👍🇦🇺
@secondhandreactions you said it exactly right, he was in a band with Eddie Van Halen. Alex is as great as Bonham, as any of them. Thanks for the video! Yes, it's a crazy drum song, honestly there isn't any other song that has the drums just hammering like that. I'm sure you have the stereo that does it justice. Cheers.
It's understandable why there is a divide in people's opinions of him. It all depends on the lens you are watching it through. Are you watching it as if the song is the focus or are you watching it as a demonstration of ideas and talent. If you purely listen to the drumming without regard to context of the song, you will be awed and entertained by his talent and presentation. If you are watching in the context of enjoying a song with all of it's elements, you might see what he is playing as overkill.
when this guy plays solo on HIS drum video, ofc he shows off big time what bad ass artist he is. there is no other instrument than the track. in his band it is a completely different thing. he plays what is good for the song.
He looked winded at the end and NEVER LOOKS WINDED. Alex is one if the most technically talented drummers to ever live up there with portnoy pert and moon. Among rock drummers. Don't get me started on jazz.
Alex on any other band would have been praised as one of the worlds greatest of all time amongst fans and pros alike. Instead Eddie's epic cutting edge insanity gained all of the glory, yet neither would exist without the close andcamazing brotherhood they shared, pushi g each other's abilities to achieve Rock God status. Vinnie Paul n Dime a similar example and eddie put the original bumble bee in Dimes Coffin even though they never met. I tear up everytime I think of that.
I don’t know what gibberish you were talking about in the beginning of the video…but I hope you were kidding… El Estapario Siberiano is one of the best drummers of all time….. virtuously speaking at the least.
The song is a rock shuffle, but if you watch his left hand, he’s almost playing it like a Texas shuffle… unfortunately, those ghosts notes are buried under the bass drums.
After viewing "Amadeus" many years ago, it drove the message home how destructive, damaging and evil Envy can be. The Curse of Salieri lives on! Seriously, why do we humans gives ourselves room to harbor envy towards those who are anything from naturally gifted and more intelligent than us to those who who are not only talented, but worked their @sses off with untold numbers of hours day after day, week after week, year after year. It's one thing if someone worked much harder than you, and thusly are more skilled and play better, it's another thing if you're competing against a true genius like a Wolfgang A. Mozart. Either way, why not challenge oneself to be disciplined in celebrating the artistry and skill of a fellow human being. And if you haven't practiced enough or do not have the capability to be as good as another person, so what?! Life is both fair and unfair, respectively. Not everyone deserves the same acclaim. Even so, improve in your own right, enjoy playing drums as it is, and be realistic when you're not good nor driven enough to make a career out of it. If you catch yourself resenting a better drummer for how good they are and the praise they receive, that's squarely on you. Life isn't all about drumming, anyway, it is about being an improving and better human than you were.
Yeah the beat of the song came from a recording of a car, so you gotta examine the ignition pattern and all the misses pops and bangs that the car can produce 🤯😎🥰
Hey, this is that incredible drummer who I was interested in seeing some of his new band stuff that came out earlier this year? Or either of you guys familiar with that?
The Original Intro was Eddie Van Halen's Lamborghini Engine Idling, Then Alex Van Halen Starts Drumming. To replicate that sound you use a Kick Drum on it's Face so it is Muted.

He teaches, he shows what he is doing, he has tutorials you can do, wtf those other drummers doing? He plays their drum parts better than they do and adds to them in his own flavor. Groovefather is his name. Guy is a nice guy as well, practices endless hours. SLipknot , system of the down love that guy.
Yep , he is humble and genuine . He got my utmost respect when I saw his videos praising other drummers in amazement, saying things like "How the F...... Does he do that" ! Really surprising to hear comments such as this from such a machine himself , but he shows respect where respect is due never pretending to be something he is not . He got a loyal follower here 👍
There's still a lot of drunmers who dont like Neil Peart. And Alex Van Halen isn't even in the same galaxy as him. He's a decent drummer. Nothing special really. There were hundreds of drummers then who were far better.
@@DarleenChain Welp. There’s over 650 videos of Sue on this channel and more coming. And also- she was in the video before this one. What are we talking about here?
@secondhandreactions Not at all. All of his videos seem altered. I've never seen him in a band setting, although I'm aware that he has released material. If it's for real, I'm duly impressed, but it just sounds fake to me, like those guys playing 1000 notes a second on a guitar. It may be the real deal, but I'm skeptical.
A generational talent. He also has a great sense of humor and is dialed into a lot of genres. My favorite thing is he's so joyful.
i absolutely love EL ESTEPARIO SIBERIANO
This guy is legendary. Incredibly clean and accurate. You have to see what he can do WITH ONE HAND!

He is a drum GOD,very2 precise and pricelesssssss,go bro cmmoonnnn.....we watch u
I hear the guy that did this originally is pretty good too
the GOAT
Rick Beato had Nuno Bettencourt on for an interview, and the story came up about the drum solo at the beginning was in fact Eddie's own Ferrari.
It was Eddie's Lamborghini Miurra
The beginning of the song is based on a Harley Davidson engine, I don’t remember which one
He's got that funky kick paedal that plays twice for every one kick and doubles those so his kick game is otherworldly
El puts in the work and that’s why he is where he is!!
It shows for sure ✌️He’s on another level

Agreed. 🤘his vids are fun as fuck for everyone to watch
The “exhaust system” he’s taking about is the very beginning of HFT is the recorded sound of Eddie’s Lamborghini engine idling.
Yes, an exhaust. In my experience, it matches *perfectly* the rhythm of a Harley Davidson Road King
Good lord. I never knew this. That song is insane

I no longer like playing drums anymore. It’s nobody’s fault but mine but there it is.
He's riding that snare like a double bass,
The beginning was over dubbed with two drum parts !!!!!!! STILL ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤!!!!!!!!!

I’m hearing from others here in the comments that it’s the exhaust from Eddie’s Lamborghini
I’ve never heard a Lamborghini sound like that. Does sound like a bike though.
I bet he could play this one handed.
You’re probably right
