@@jayf8308 Looks like they actually used "repube", I'm guessing it's meant to be a short form for Republican but for me I'm picturing someone who's fallen behind with their manscaping, and so now they're re-pubing hahaha
It's probably tied to the same reasons the US doesn't have more subscribers to the concept of a round globe. Did you know that only 2/3 of Americans are convinced of that idea? I my jaw has been on the floor since I first heard that fun little statistic, and just the possibility was far too depressing for me to look it up and confirm.
I have gained a lot more respect for Reba.
Edit: For future reference, Reba's career mostly spanned my early child hood. So I have only known her music. My apologies.
Since 1991 she has been a loud proud supporter of gay rights we shall be free by garth brooks started it all she has been interviewed many times and has even supported gay marriage at least that long it's one of the few political issues she speaks out on

I did NOT have hearing "I'm dissapointed" from Reba on my 2023 bingo cards. But, I am certainly glad to be here for it.
Dolly Parton wrote this inspiring little book called "Dream More". One of the adorable stories that she talks about is that she entered a Dolly Parton look alike drag show and she lost😂 if you're interested in getting this book I highly recommend getting it on audio because she reads it herself. She does such a beautiful job and is so entertaining.

Nashville isn't quiet yet either. There are student protests going on and reps that are standing with the protestors are being removed from committees and threatened with being removed from their elected positions.
Yeah, it's getting scary there.
I hope Beau talks about this. Kinda surprised this wasn't in the video.
@Dale Ehrhart I literally came hear looking for that video after I heard about it this morning!
@@mystreteacher The news was just coming out when this video was released and it was probably recorded well before that. I'd be surprised if something doesn't come out soon - but it's likely to be a busy news week/
Holy cats! If Reba even said ANYTHING on the subject of politics it'd be like you or I throwing a hissy fit right in the middle of Main Street, NEKKID!
So glad to hear Dolly is being vocal although not a surprise there. She has a loving, accepting heart.
You said two queens and I immediately knew who the other was. I remember the feels I got from the video of her cover of Bobbie Gentry's Fancy. Lady don't mess. She might not talk politics, might not be as vocal as Dolly, but she don't mess.
That drag ban was just the shot across the bow. They have enough hate to keep shooting for years.
If you're still firing across the bow, you haven't committed to engagement yet, you're probing, trying to provoke a reaction. I say the best response is a broadside, they've had decades to negotiate.
Drag performers and transgender people are the first and second they're coming for.
If they can take out these groups they keep taking
Because it's easier to divide people instead of instituting policies that actually make positive changes. :(
You Sir have the best content on the web. Your stuff should follow the national news, on all networks. Keep it going, Sir! Hoorah!
The way I protect myself from Churches is I don’t go in them. If you feel Cabarets are a place you need to protect yourself from you do not need to go in them.

one of my favorite stories I heard about Dolly is she secretly entered into a Dolly Pardon look alike drag contest, and lost and she thought that was the funniest thing in the world
🤣🤣🤣 that's awesome!
With Reba all you have to know about where she falls is just watching how she behaves in general ❤
Correct and the body of her work including the benefits she’s worked.
seriously, between her lyrics and her tv show, if people think Reba's far right conservative, they need to check their biases and stop leaning so hard on stereotypes... but if that wasn't enough, look at who she associates with. i know there's possibly family divorce drama, but Kelly Clarkson is/was one of her closest mentees
now i'm trying to remember they show where she was dressed as a general.
That's a rebel yell for Reba! haha
YUP!! 😁👍
Love it when he smiles!!
indeed! 😀
You tell 'um Reba! There are tornadoes, floods, and various extreme weather problems that are going to make it difficult for agriculture communities to feed our nation - let alone the entire globe - because Ukraine can't plant!!! We have life and death issues in these communities.
There's an old expression, "Live and let live," that today's Puritans would be advised to consider. This applies to drag shows, to library books that might offend some (very few) readers, and ideas in general that question closed-minded attitudes. Sooner or later, all the "controls" put on ideas get broken down and discarded. The free market in ideas tends in one direction, and it definitely isn't toward authoritarianism. Some people are blind to this reality. Sucks to be them...
Great post. I've been struggling with how to say exactly that for a while. Brilliantly executed, and enormously eloquent. You've made my day, Sir.
God save the queens!
Drag queens are some of their biggest fans. If I didn't go to drags shows I wouldn't have a clue what most of Reba's songs were.
"...going to be a busy news week." And I'm here for it!

Say what you will about Tennessee; its politicians will never be able to crush the legacy of acceptance from Johny Cash! One of the few things I can say I am proud of in this state. Seriously if you ever have a chance, visit the Johny Cash Museum in Nashville; this guy's life is one hell of a story!

Tennessee law does not allow adult material around kids. Drag shows most often post if its adult material already. Every show venue has to.
As it should be.
But not all drag shows are adult some are kid friendly like when they read to kids or perform at family events i live near the TN border they have already made it to where drag in any form can't be around at least in the tri-cities area of TN
Drag shows are not automatically porn. However, people who see lgbt folk as pornographic, probably only ever see lgbt people in the context of porn. The problem with this was the assignment of 'porn' to 'merely cross-dressing.' And it wasn't about the drag shows. It was about forcing all genderqueer people out of public.

I've been a fan of Reba's for a long time. She's never been one to voice her political opinion, but she has always been on the side of decency. Treat people right, be kind to all, and kick the ass of anyone who treats you wrong.
God Bless Dolly and Reba .I am sure many others.
Maybe not a whole lap, but I'll revel in any and every small victory. Hope has to come from somewhere.

Recently a British artist passed away, Paul O'Grady. He had a varied career but famously had a drag act as Lily Savage. If you like British humour and drag please search for this talent. I have always loved drag queens from the first time I heard a routine as a teenager.
Reba is accepting of the LGBT community. My lesbian mother-in-law was the president of her fan club in Kentucky. And my father-in-law was a Danville, KY police officer who ran security when she was in state. She sent a peace lily to my father-in-law’s funeral when he died. It had been something like 30 years and she still remembered them. 🥰
We have a picture of Reba holding my wife on her lap when she was a young girl.
You know how when you turn on a kids show and the character in the show greets the audience and they all get happy about it?

Dolly employs a large chunk of eastern Tennessee. She has sent a large chunk of eastern Tennessee to college. She actively encourages eduaction at all levels. She is actively involved in bringing new industries and new ideas to eastern Tennessee. I will bet on Dolly...screw the Tennessee legislature.

I recommend that every straight American see at least one drag show in their lifetime. I'll admit I was a little weirded out initally at the first one I went to, but the first performer saw my trepidation, sat on my lap with the spotlight on us, and coached me through it with encouraging words (and a little harmless sexual innuendo). Everyone there was great and it wound up being a total blast.
This makes me hopeful for the South and country.

I remember watching Reba's TV show with my Mummum when I was little. Reba's statement on drag shows doesn't surprise me at all. I'm less familiar with her music, but I remember the show enough that this feels very much like the material character to a teen mom she played back then.
I'm not angry I'm disappointed is totally a mom thing so maybe that's why I feel like I do. It's been a long time since I watched the show, and maybe my glasses are rosey. Either way I like feeling like she's still momming with the best of them.
I grew up in Nashville and actually worked on a fence at Reba's river house. She's a very rational thinker and does have a very open mind on social issues, very much about real freedom, not the freedumb we've been seeing out of some of my lesser Volunteers
Amen Reba! Let us focus on real problems! 👏💜
