I thought bimaxillary protrusion was most a south East Asian feature. I’m Korean and I have it and I get mistaken as a Filipino or Vietnamese person a lot by others. I don’t know any Koreans who have it as noticeable as mine and I feel very self conscious about it and I never look right in pictures
I had this and got braces 2 years ago, they fixed my bottom flared teeth but for some reasons the top ones are still quite flared too.. Not 100% satisfied but better than before
How did you fix bottom flared teeth? did any sort of retainer help? like how do I bring back my flared upper and lower teeth? I didn't have any extractions and I'm mid way of treatment..
Extracting the first 4 premolars with braces does it affect cheek dimples? Does it make it disappear?

My upper teeth isnt forwarding but my gum is, that makes my upper jaw forwarding. As I remember, I didnt have this problem when I was a kid. Can you suggest me what to do to correct it, Im afraid my upper jaw will go forward and forward each year. Thankyou very much..

What if the braces caused the flared teeth?
was it a predicted movement in the treatment or was it as a result of poor treatment planning?
I don't know, I already had a protrusive profile but extracting teeth seemed crazy so we went with a non extraction ortho and it caused the flaring and slight lip incompetence. I only had mild crowding. Two orthos said I would not need extractions and only one recommended extractions. I underwent extraction orthodontics later on in life and am depressed at the results, my face is so flat now and I have excess skin. So I am considering reversal+ implants or just pushing things out a bit more. I saw your other video where you say some people protrusiveness is normal.
Before I engage into that approach, I would want to examine four things: (1) the health of your gums; (2) the current positions of your teeth in your jaws; (3) the system that will be employed to achieve the results; (4) the teeth the implants are designed to replace. If you provide me that information, I could give a more informative opinion to your situation.

My new ortho is very esthtic focused. He sees my gums are healthy. He will be using some german brand of self ligitating braces and sirings to open spaces and then tads to pull rear molars forward. He will widen my arc to fill out my face. The teth that were removed were 1st premolars but my ortho believes that i really do not need implants, just that too much retraction occured. Thank you for all your help.
@@ESOrthodontics I have a slide show on how my teeth got with braces and I believe it's malpractice becuase I never got facial foward growth so they just made me worse!
My orthodontist said that i have to close my lips together so that i can help my braces move my protruding teeth backwards, is this true?

So I had flared teeth and my ortho shaved/filed my teeth. The sad thing is he didn’t tell me he was doing this and just did it, of course at the time I wanted to ask questions but I was already in the chair and I trusted him. Is this a good option for flared teeth? Is there any negative consequences?
Also I want to add that I had long canine teeth before and I loved those bc it gave my smile character, who reshaped them and now they look boxed and small:(
My dentist did something similar...he filed in between my front bottom teeth and during covid, everything was closed, and the gap got so big and I almost got root resorption! I’m the same way, I was in the chair, I trusted him, and let him do it. I shouldn’t have. It hurt so bad! There was blood on his gloves, around my mouth, everywhere. It was an awful experience. I found an orthodontist to go to.
It’s better than extraction
I am having to choose between IPR or extraction to fix this problem, which one should I go for? I’m Asian and my face is a narrow rectangular shape

I am 23 yrs old and i have bimaxilary protrusion and my lower is bigger because of protrusion and my doc recommend 4 premolar extraction. I am Indian and i have round and square face with wide jaws and well developed palate

I spend koney and time on braces but my teeth is flared i want to confront dr but dr always said its mot possible its just ur feelings all those.
I had braces in high school. Upon de-banding I did not have any flare whatsoever.
25 years later I had braces again. They were removed a couple of weeks ago. I have flaring on both top and bottom. I have clear retainers. The ortho believes the retainers will fix the flare but has also taken impression for a top wire retainer which she said may help more.
I hate the flare. Please share your input.

Why are u against extraction
My orthodontist told me I have class 2 malocclusion . Nd that I will have to go for bilateral first premolar extractions . Do I really need them .
All i know is if i finish getting braces and left with straight donkey teeth im gonna be pissed🤬.
I will have my appointment next week, i have very crowded upper and lower teeth. I already have difficulties breathing, and I don't want to have a flat face. I am half asian, and I do have flaring of lower and upper front teeth. Would extraction for braces give me the stated side effects mentioned above?
Is getting your teeth shaved as effective moving the teeth back as it is with extraction?
Wondering the same thing since i am having to choose between extractions and IPR for my braces treatment

@@keron3844 I was told by my orthodontist that having IPR won’t move the teeth back as much as extractions would. I have bimaxillary protrusion and lip incomplete. My ortho said IPR would slightly help my flared teeth a little but not enough to fix the lip incompetence.

I have an impacted canine and my ortho said that i also have a bimaxillar postrusion (because of that one missing tooth in my opinion ) so i have to get 4 premolars extracted. (13 + 1 impacted canine on the upper arch, 14 bottom arch).
Im most worried about the change. I dont want to have a sunken face and even flatter face which I already have (im asian) since my teeth are gonna shift.
Is there any other solution than removing 4 teeth?

Hai Dr.. i have class 1 molar relation.. with bilaterally rotated canines ..and mild flaring of upper anteriors..
Also crowding on lower anteriors..i have straight profile with square face shape... my orthodontist told to pull out all 5 so as to correct the dental issue...myself being a dental doctor very much worried about extracting all 5.. as it might give an aged look on my face.. is orthodontic correction for my case possible without extracting my teeth..

i am 2 months into my regular braces and i have been told that extraction would change my facial profile and make it worse, hence i have been recognized as a non extraction case with IPR . Can you please give me your opinion as well, its very confusing.
IPR, also known as inter-proximal tooth reduction, is a technique whereby the tooth is slenderized on its sides. Those minimal spaces that are created then are closed up. It's a common technique for the treatment of certain issues. In your case, it sounds like your doctor is trying to minimize the flaring of the teeth by employing this technique.

My bottom and upper teeth are flared, and I don't know if this is Bimaxillary protrusion or not.
The problem is, I'm planning on getting my teeth braces.
All I know is that there are two options of brackets, the regular one, or the S-L Brackets, I haven't talked about whether I'm gonna need to extract 4 of my teeth or not.
Can you help me find out if my teeth will be needing the extraction or not? Btw, I'm a 24 year old female.

Hi Doctor. I always thought getting extraction is normal but I did research as I am getting my braces soon and I have learned about possible side effects. I have (bimaxillary) protrusion, do you mind if I email you my teeth pics and you see if I can avoid extractions? My sister extracted teeth and now her smile is nice
I didn't and my teeth just flare out
I have wide effects from the extracting and retracting teeth and I never got foward growth so it's malpractice! Look up orthotropics you might not have Foward growth
