EckhartsLadder whatever you choose can you consider staying away from the 40k universe vs other universes, as that universe is by design over the top and unfathomable large and everything is disproportionately overpowered and larger in scale compared to pretty much any other Sci Fi universe.

One thing I think the prequels did really well was the design of the weapons and armor. They are heavier, more cumbersome, and feel as if they would naturally evolve into what we see in the original trilogy. It's weird how Star Wars, unlike most sci-fis and fantasies, was able to perfectly reflect technological development in its lore.
James George The technology in the prequels was largely not carried forward though. While I agree that the designs were awesome there are many things shown in the prequels that are far superior to any tech that seems to have existed since
Kowazuky One problem in comparing the technology is that the prequels mostly take place on the core worlds, the most advanced and civilized planets. The OT on the other hand takes place on a backwater desert planet, an uninhabited snow planet, a remote mini mining operation, and a forest moon with only teddy bears. Also, perhaps the Empire focuses most of their technological development on the military, ignoring all else.

@@pedrovilasgomes9144 yeah, I think they were mostly designed to intimidate civilian populations, I mean remember the Rebels were never a serious threat to the empire on the ground, but on Hoth the AT-ATs were used to speed things up as Vader wanted to capture specific Rebels. Otherwise they could have just blasted the shield from orbit until it fell, and then destroyed the entire area the shields had protected.
You’re overlooking the biggest advantage of the A280 sniper rifle: the cool, unique, and satisfying sound it makes when it fires.

The best Clone Wars-era rifle was the DC-17m. It was modular, so you could adapt it in seconds for assault, sniper, and demolition roles with minimal effort. Solid stopping power and a decent rate of fire. It was issued to clone commando squads.

True but in my opinion it wouldn't change the tides of the war too much as for the separatists barely use them in the battlefield by using his guards. And since there was so expensive the separatists in the by so many of them that's why they used them as guards or special ops
You are using the DC-15S (a carbine) for the standard clone weapon, instead of the DC-15A which is the actual blaster rifle. I don't know if this was intentional or not.

Lyudmila Pavlichenko (the first/best female in history) used to snipe without a scope (scopes being expensive and she and her squad being an experiment to see if female solders would work) made most of her kills being 600-700 feet away and her rifle was a cheep peace of crap even for a Russian gun
I think some things to consider about the A280 is that the Rebels often fought armoured foes, therefore needing a blaster with more power.
Not only that but the extra accuracy Would've really helped in surprise attacks.

Imperial blasters were quite easily the best weapons in the Galaxy. The E-11 is a simple and versatile design with few limitations. Unlike your average stormtrooper....

Grand Admiral Thrawn AC280 is better than imperial scum weapons. The only areas where e-11 is better would be in spaceships. Otherwise even in urban combat I would rather have the ac280 as it is better at medium ranges where most firefights occur. Spaceships: e11. Urban: e11/ac280 Other: ac280

From what I’ve seen in Star Wars the DC-15A was more common than the DC-15S variant, which is a longer barreled version, more similar to the rebel alliances main blaster rifle. I of course could be wrong but from what I’ve seen in the Prequals and the Star Wars battlefront (original series from early 2000s) the clones preferred the long barreled variant. Furthermore I believe your critique for the scope is redundant, since a clone would very rarely need the scope, and it would be a useless waste of money, since the republic wanted only clones to use it (who always had helmets). And given the morals of the republic it isn’t surprising they would require that, so any citizen couldn’t use it as effectively. Furthermore I believe you discount the advantages of a long barreled rifle. Rebel weapons and the clone weapons excellled at range, where imperial and CIS weapons lacked, this gives them a defined advantage you should have taken into account, also the Rebel alliance main blaster is far more accurate and takes a more skilled trooper, which should also be taken into account. In the end I believe your video was fantastic (and this is needless nit picking). Love your videos, and Merry (late) Christmas

He brought up the range being an advantage, but there are still fights in close quarters. Lets say we had a scenario like the opening sequence of episode iv where enemies are boarding your ship, you might not want the heavy full length rife when engaging enemies in a tight space with allies not too far away you might op for a lighter blaster like the E-11 or the DH-17 like the rebels and empire used in the exact sequence. However that’s quite situational and i see your reasoning. Range is almost always an advantage when it comes to any kind of combat the exception being those close quarters. But then again in just about any other situation i agree with you and would op for the blaster with the longer range.

Hydrogen One it wasn't the helmets but rather plot armor and just in case you decide to use non Imperials as examples of not being able to see clearly through the helmets the reason why that's the case is because anyone that wasn't assigned to the equipment was not able to use them effectively. It's basically like ID tagged gear in Metal Gear Solid 4 which is why imperial gear and helmets were extremely difficult to sell on the black market in the star wars universe.

The DC-15s was a much higher power blaster, and its bolts were ionized for extra effectiveness against droids and vehicles. It was a purpose built blaster mated to the clone armies as the entire DC line. Also, it did have a variable setting with both a high cyclic rate mag dump setting designed to saw through whatever it's pointed at and a more sedate rate of fire for more moderate marksmanship
Great video, and I generally agree with your conclusions, except for one particular error. At 3:37 "...I don't like that the stock DC-15 comes without a scope..." which certainly would be a problem, except that it does come with a built in scope. That thing that looks like and is used as an under-barrel grip, by just about every clone, is actually the scope! It can be flipped up to the typical scope position, or be flipped down to "handle" position when a scope is not necessary. In fact, although it is never shown in the movies or Clone Wars series, there is Star Wars technical literature that states that the DC-15 was a superior battle rifle with a range of 5 miles!! Certainly the scope would be used at that point, unlike the close quarters/point-blank engagements that we see on the screen. This super high distance range, combined with the purposely large and heavy construction of the DC-15 was meant to reflect and be reminiscent of WWI battle rifles with their 1 mile (and sometimes slightly more) range (which was meant to equal the range of a cannon or other artillery piece). The DC-15S and the E-11, on the other hand, reflect the shift in tactics of WWII and therefore resemble and reflect the submachine gun and the assault rifle both in size, usage, and versatility in CQB. So the DC-15 can easily outrange the Rebel Rifle, but it is even heavier and more unwieldy than it, hence the development of the DC-15S and transition to the E-11 considering that clone troopers did A LOT of CQB, and that Stormtroopers engaged in CQB almost exclusively. Just thought of something.
Maybe you could do a video about the pros and cons of blasters and slugthrowers (firearms) in the Star Wars universe. And give examples on which would be best in a given situation.
That's kind of a problem in the lore. Blasters, and especially pistols, are given tiny effective ranges according to canon. Like the wookie bowcaster had an effective range of 30m and max of 50m. Furthermore, in lore, slug throwers are unblockable by lightsaber. They're also much MUCH lower muzzle velocity than a slug thrower, have a tiny RoF in comparison to slug throwers, and have a greater tendency to drift their shots than a slug thrower. In canon I think they explain it away with ammunition. While wildly differing, some guns can get 400+ shots from a single power pack. Another reason could be due to recoil or battle droids; the first effecting aim and the second causing armor penetration problems. Other benefits of blasters were no trajectory on rounds and the ability to use a stun setting. A last thing to mention is that shields did not work against slugthrowers.

True to an extent. Particle shielding does work against slugthrowers but it is mostly on ships and not on troops. That being said, in the Empire Strikes Back we see that asteroids do serious damage to star destroyers and it is implied that they do in fact destroy one of them. I definitely agree that the best case for blasters is the ammo, there are a few that defy the rule but generally they can put out more shots before reloading than a slugthrower. It does also centralize ammo production though as the gas cannot be found everywhere, so it may also act as a bit of a control for the Empire as well.
Sorry I'm late to this conversation but there are a number of advantages that slug throwers have over blasters. They are cheap and easy to produce and repair. Because their balistic in nature, they can be silenced. They can use specialized ammunition such as explosive or armor piercing rounds.
@@GBRyker61 On the other side of the sound equation, slugthrowers also made for great terror weapons....unsuppressed, they make a hell of a lot of sharp, loud noise.
The slugthrowers of the SW universe are primitive compared to real life firearms. Think bolt action rifles, at best. If you brought an AK47 into Star Wars it would be one of the best manheld weapons you could use. Especially against the empires trooper armor which is only designed to protect against blasters.
Here’s how I think of each gun when comparing it to a real life weapon:E-11: M4A1 (or any other modern AR-15 carbine, such as the C8), or perhaps the AK-74M. Reliable, versatile, and user-friendly without breaking the bank too much. Perfect for an average soldier.
E-5: Sten Gun. While not useless, definitely could be some better options. Reasonably powerful (9mm is a good round, especially when it was developed [before infantry body armor was common]), light and cheap as shit, but flimsy as hell overheats like Chernobyl Reactor No. 4
A280: FAL/G3/M14. Powerful and accurate. Good for long range but struggles when pressed into close-quarters-combat. Rugged and heavy but can struggle with long-term reliability
DC-15: Early AR-15 (M-16A1/2, XM-177E1, etc.) variants. Most of the advantages of the later variants, but heavier and less reliable. Also less versatile. Still, big innovator for the time and definitely a good rifle all-around.
One thing you failed to mention. Having a scope on the 11 allowed troopers to view through the scope via their heads up display and allowed them to see farther than the standard clone trooper. Beyond that I agree 100%

the commando rifle was designated dc-17 modifiable. had a sniper rifle attachment, and an anti armour launcher attachment as well. not used by other units besides commando squads
Fynii for most fans that aren't new to the franchise it will always be DC-15a (larger rifle) and DC-15s (smaller rifle) plus it makes more sense that way.
I hate how a mistake in the Clone Wars became canon
I like the DC-15s most, but the gripe about the scope is legitimate. One thing I noticed about the deece was the fact that the shot seemed more concentrated and controlled; in that it usually made a hole in the target instead of just frying it (like Han's blaster did to Greedo).
I think the faction with the best blasters are the Halo 2 jackal sniper.

You know, I have looked at plenty of weapon videos but it seems like we have no idea which longblaster or sniper belonged to which faction & which sniper was the best, it’ll be awesome to see a video of that for the people who enjoy marksmanship

The clone weapons fired blaster shots comprised up of charged/ionized plasma.
On the high setting, the DC-15A rifle's powerful blue plasma bolts were more than capable of penetrating the armor of most infantry personnel, and because of the hyper-ionization, they were exceptionally effective against both droids and living targets. On maximum power, a shot from a DC-15A could leave a 0.5 meter hole in any ferroconcrete wall.
So because of the sheer power of the cloens weapons they were useful agaisnt organic and heavily armored targets and because of the hyperionization of the bolts they were effective against droids and organic targets.
Legion I love the DC15A...the life from the Clone Wars is some of my favorite.

Which faction had the best heavy walker? Separatist Tri-droid or spider droid, Republic AT-TE, empires AT-AT, or the first orders AT-M6?
And don’t judge which is best by who would win on a one on one battle since the at-m6 is obviously the winner but more by effectiveness and usefulness

There’s more data for the AT-TE we’ve seen them be space RV’s cargo haulers, field artillery, boarding craft, MBT’s, Mobile command centers. On top of a better design than half the previous and future designs. Plus care protection is important as well.
I think the AT-M6 isn't used very effectively in TLJ, They Deploy them is The veers formation (I think) which is the same formation of the AT-ATs in ESB, They have little to no support walkers apart from the smaller ones which are also slow and hard to manoeuvre. The empire had the AT-STs which were very effective. The Republics AT-TE was very versatile and could do alot of things, The Easily manoeuvrable cannon on top allows for a much quicker turn speed than a AT-AT, they are also supported with lots of Heavy and Light walkers and tanks which complement it perfectly, The Spider droid is probably the weakest, It's legs are fragile and can be cut through by a lightsaber with ease. I Think it would be like this

AKs are generally accurate but due to the poor sights its harder to have good aim, however it still is accurate if the user fired it in semi auto and got adjusted to the sights.

They need to publish more information on the E-5. It's so common yet information is so limited.
I think one thing that takes a large part of choosing which is the best blaster is who you are using it against. For example the Republic blaster was heavier to take out droids and heavy armored ones as he said. As for the Imperial blaster is focused on killing Rebel who are human. But, against droids the Republic's would be more effective. So it really depends on who you are going to use the blaster on. But, overall the Imperial blaster is the best and I agree with you. I just wanted to keep that in mind.
The DC15A outclasses the e11 and the dlt19 tho
It has a range of ten kilometers and can blow 50cm holes in ferroconcrete. As well as blow up a huge stone pillar with one shot while having 500 rounds in the mag.

yeah but the DC-15A was heavy and cumbersome as a MF, at 9.5 pounds fully loaded and nearly 4 feet long it was a hassle to use even for the clones who were trained to use it, which is why many preferred the DC-15S.

but its a pretty damn important one plus like its smaller cousin its primary sight system is linked to the clone troopers HUD that combined with the cumbersomeness and the weight make it less than ideal in certain scenarios

I mean, look. It is the best choice for most non cqb battles since it can raze pretty much any infantry you throw at it.
And i didnt really understand why the smaller variant is listed as less versatile than the E-11. I dont see any difference on the gun itself, only that the clones were able to rack up five times more kills than the stormies with it. Eck said that it can kill armored targets with a single shot. Well for one, the rebels only wear helmets for armor, and two, the super battle droid coating makes stormtrooper armor seem like cardboard. I dont really see the need to fire tranquilizer rounds, or have a higher power setting, since it can do its job normally.

Here's an interesting idea for a video: between the X-Wing and TIE Fighter, which was the most improved upon (in terms of design and capabilities) between Episodes 6 and 7? So, how much better was the First Order's TIE compared to the Empire's, and did the New Republic do as good a job updating the T-65 to the T-70/T-85.
So you were just presuming E5 malfunctioned, was inaccurate and seems to me that only because it was mass produced, it was automatically bad.

100% American Buffalo spartans win, spartans are trained and have extensive genetic augmentation. I believe that unsc marines are better trained but mass effect have superior technology.

I was wondering if you could do an episode about stormtrooper and clone weapons and explaining what real life weapons were like them. (DMRs, bolt action rifles, sub machineguns, etc.) Also please do a similar episode to this but with pistols or snipers. Keep up the great work and happy new years.

I like the full size DC-15 and A280 rifles more than the "carbines". I don't get the logic of the A280 being less effective at close range, I mean if it'll put you on your arse at range than it'll sure as hell drop you up close. I get it's less ergonomic than the E-11 but the A280 isn't exactly a long weapon.
Solo Wing Borders Heyo! I'm 7 months late but I'll explain. Heavier and longer weapons are much slower and more difficult to handle in close quarters engagements. Real world militaries are almost universally adopting carbines because of this reason.
Why did you put carbines in quotes? It's an actual term for a short lightweight rifle.
@@grayfoxx4 thats why you uses a bullpup such as the EF88 as its a full powered rifle with higher muzzle velocity and enough weight to reduce recoil.
@@OrDuneStudios bullpups have their own issues with big ones being ergonomics and balance. Countries that adopted bullpups like France and New Zealand are now moving away from them in favor of traditionally setup carbines.
@@OrDuneStudios but bullpups aren’t as great as you think, if you’ve ever used one you’d know that they’re a pain to use and reloading them is really annoying. Those slight problems get you killed in a firefight even if I have less power I’d rather have a traditional carbine that I know will work.

Which faction had the best space superiority fighter?
That assumes they can keep superiority in combat.
I'm talking about each factions best fighter not their standard issue fighters. So the Tie Defender, Droid Tri fighter, ARC 170, and E-wing for the New Republic since the Rebels would still be using the X-wing.
The X-Wing doesn't hold a candle to the TIE Defender, in fact, no fighter does, except for the Missile Boat, which was designed to defeat the Defender afterall. However, since the Defender was used in very low numbers compared to the other fighters, I think it would make more sense to compare the TIE Interceptor for the Empire instead.

the rebels x-wing would be top dog. the rebels biggest strength is fighter combat so it would make sense that theyd have the best fighter.

So this is a really good run-down, but I think it falls over when it actually tries to *rank* the weapons. The E5 (and to a lesser extent the A280) were designed with totally different priorities in mind. This is the same mistake people make when comparing (for example) tanks, where they only look at armour and calibre rather than the strategic and logistical needs of difference forces.

Charles Cilek, Formics would have numbers advantage (using swarming tactics) over CIS. CIS would probably have technology advantage.
Honestly going by memory and opinion, I would give it to the Buggers and how they were able to decimate the Earth fleet; and if wasn't for that Main Gun they would have won.

I feel like there isnt enough information to do any comparison in the enderverse. We simply do not know how moat of their ships work since the only weapon described is the MD device

Very thorough video! It’s nice to see focus given to things in Star Wars beyond Jedi, lightsabers and the force. It’s details and facts like this that help build the vast world that Star Wars inhabits and makes it feel more real.
If you think about it, this choice in weaponry fits the fighting styles of all the factions. The Empire’s E-11 is rugged and utilitarian, designed for aggressive close quarters battle that the Stormtroopers excel at and are designed/trained for. The Clone’s DC-17s is the close quarters counterpart to the DC-17a rifle and is similar is usage and design to the E-11, making it essentially the precursor just as the Clone Troopers lead to the Storm Troopers. The E-5 is a quantity of firepower rather than quality of firepower weapon, which is perfect for how the Separatists fight their battles; why outfit a cheap yet serviceable mass produced soldier with something expensive and “better” when a weapon equally cheap yet serviceable will do? And for the rebel’s, who usually are shown holding defensive positions in delaying actions or attempting guerrilla style combat, a weapon that lets them kill Imperials from a longer and thus safer range is a perfect use of the A280’s longer range and power to keep them away from the close-range powerhouse that is the E-11.

So the best army for any faction would probably consist of
A cheap infantry force made of a mix of multiple specialized droids, equipped with E-11 blasters,
A handful of heavily armed and armored droid commanders with the ability to learn,
Walkers like the AT-TE, but with faster movement and more firepower(as well as some way to traverse deep water),
Some fast hover vehicles for scouting and hit-and-run operations,
And of course, Jedi generals for their tactical prowess and their mind tricks, as well as their powerful combat abilities.
Does anyone think something different?

I have a suggestion for next video in this series, which faction had the best training. Imperials, republic, CIS, or rebel alliance (maybe put in first order and resistance) or an american F-22A raptor vs an imperial tie fighter.

Voldemort vs Emperor Palpatine
Palps slaughters. Voldemort has human level base speed, reactions and durability. Palps fighting style is all about being a speed demon. He has precognition which aids his already impressive reaction time as he's able to keep up with a much older luke Skywalker who is the goku of star wars. I also highly doubt spells will actually effect palpatine at all. You can black avadda cadavra with a shield spell. The first thing force wielder are taught is to passively create a force bubble shield around themselves. This is the reason you rarely see force wielders ragdolling each other around and resort to a duel. The only way to go through this shield is to be blatantly more powerful than your opponent.

Given that the Imperial blaster was a obvious upgrade from the Republic model, I think it would have been more interesting for comparison’s sake to have gone with the longer rifle used by the Republic. Idk what it’s called, but the main one seen att the battle of Geonosis, and featured in most footage spots you used for the Republic in this video. Would have been more of a guess for the audience since saying the E-11 is the upgraded version pretty instantly gives away where it’s going to stand compared to its obsolete model.
