Thanks for the great comment. The engine is really only 8-1, but that Thumper on a 107 lobe center makes it TALK. I could not believe the sound. Thanks again.
man that sounds great. It is 1:00 in the morning here and i had my sound all the way up just wanted to go outside in the garage and start putting my small block together lol later and keep the vids coming
Needs a roller valve train to free up some good power. I have seen 6700 rpm on my 510 cid,big block. With aluminum heads lightly ported, stainless valves ,lunati roller cam and roller rockers and proper stud girdles. I did spend a lil extra on child's and Albert's H beam rods cut for my crank and good forged venolla pistons . Compression is close to 11:1 . Be sure to use melling high vol oil pump or you will dry out the bottom end. This combo yield about 550 to 620 hp in many applications and will do so for 40k plus miles if built by good mechanics.
Mine has the oil pressure sending unit in the front of the block on the driver side. Are you just using the hole above the filter for ease of use with that gauge or do you normally use that hole?
stock flat top pistons? 8:1 comp ratio I believe right? on the fence about upping my comp ratio with some dome pistons but if itll run that good with a thumpr and low comp pistons ill throw a cam in.
I think I remember him, when I started delivering to them they were still Cline Automotive so that'll tell ya how long ago it was...around 1994 I think it was..
Ronnie, I just installed this cam in my 468 BBC, 781 Heads w/big valves. Hoping it will sound similar to yours. What was the cam timing at here? What did you guys end up installing the cam centerline at?
i kinda thought maybe that's what it was but there's always that last turn that a clamp or screw didn't get to make things a mess some times too. that's why i was curious :o)
Been watching you quite a while. Wish there was some way I could get you to help me with my 92 Chevy ext cab. She's 350 TBI the guy I bought it from said it was rebuilt and bored .33 over? I can't tell but I would love you to help.
What compression ratio is this running? Also what compression ratio would be safe for 87 octane. I'm not sure if I'd asked that before so I might as well make sure.
TheMemphisSlim when I worked flipping houses there was a house whose neighbor would always wrench on his big block El Camino. when he started it I'd go outside and listen. Boss didn't like it but I had to hear it every time.
Hotrod I got a question. I have a 454 that I'm going to rebuild and I wanted to know how strong are the stock internals. Is 650hp pushing it with the stock parts? By the way it a 4 bolt main engine.
Jay when I tore this engine apart I found out it was a 2-bolt main, which is fine for my application. I think 650 hp is really pushing the stock innards of a 2-bolt main 454.
all the zooming in and out made me a little ill but the rest of the video was pretty cool. what's all that liquid on top of the intake? had you just hosed it off or something?
Holy Shit Man....yer videos ROCK !!! I love how tha headers keep it from rollin over ....and that Rad support ...LOLMAO !!! That motors gotta be 15-1 comp or better.....Sounds like a Thumper Cam fo sho BRO .....XLENT WORK !!!
Jimmy Cricket It was a stock bore 454 Baldwin Motion Engine from back in 1973. Stock steel 990 heads with tunnel ram/2-4's and 4:10 12-bolt Chevy rear!! Thanks, Hotrod and #CoupeZilla
Hey Hot Rod I watch alot of your videos and like them your motors are a little less power than you think but who cares your doing what you live to do so fuck all these people with there dumbass coments and keep doing your thing.
Thanks for the great comment. The engine is really only 8-1, but that Thumper on a 107 lobe center makes it TALK. I could not believe the sound. Thanks again.
Yes, I have been dealing with those guys for quite a while. Great place to shop and they know their stuff. Thanks
Thanks Man. Nice to have a GREAT FRIEND like you. "Hotrod"
i would love to have that in my one ton dually. ive got a stock 454 in it
dont you just love that sound!?
Doesn't get any better than this. Love it!
man that sounds great. It is 1:00 in the morning here and i had my sound all the way up just wanted to go outside in the garage and start putting my small block together lol later and keep the vids coming
That's a beautiful sound!!!😉😉😉❤❤❤❤
I have the same can in my 454. It's pretty mild. Pulls good to about 5200 rpm. All big blocks sound good with open headers. 😁

Yeah #9. It should be a pretty sweet set up in it. Thanks #43
That thing sounds really pissed off🤘😮🤘
Thanks, I appreciate the comment.
I'm building a 454 myself and was just wondering is the performance on this cam pretty good?
One Heck of a Cam Gooolyyy
OK. Thanks for the comment.
love your style man.
Love watching your videos. Never boring! Where abouts do you live buddy?
Mine has the oil pressure sending unit in the front of the block on the driver side. Are you just using the hole above the filter for ease of use with that gauge or do you normally use that hole?
that thing revs like a small block and it sounds goooood i hope youll take us for a ride beafor ya sell it

Worried about valve clearance? I have a 454 bored to .060 and .125 domed pistons. I'm getting c/r of 10.25:1??? Maybe flat tops with 53/550 lift cam??
sounds incredible.
I think I remember him, when I started delivering to them they were still Cline Automotive so that'll tell ya how long ago it was...around 1994 I think it was..
Thanks Randall.
Thanks, I appreciate that.
What year engine was this and did you use factory heads?
sounds sweet whats it going in
Good point #9. I will change that next time. Thanks #43
Sounds Spicy

What is the cam #?
do you know any them guys at AED
Ronnie, I just installed this cam in my 468 BBC, 781 Heads w/big valves. Hoping it will sound similar to yours. What was the cam timing at here? What did you guys end up installing the cam centerline at?
Got flat tops in her?
'81 AMC Eagle SX-4. Thanks
it really does sound good
Who makes that oil pressure gauge? Really cool
I don't know Chris, it is very old. Thanks for watching.
i kinda thought maybe that's what it was but there's always that last turn that a clamp or screw didn't get to make things a mess some times too. that's why i was curious :o)
Damn Keith, that will be my next project! LOL
Did you do anything else? To the motor?
Cam, lifters, valves, push rods, aluminum intake, all new gaskets, sweet engine! Thanks
What's the compression ratio?
Yeah, I had just filled the little radiator. Thanks
Appliance headers, later changed to blackjack headers.
Did you know John Dillard? You know he passed a couple months ago. He was an awesome carb man.
Been watching you quite a while. Wish there was some way I could get you to help me with my 92 Chevy ext cab. She's 350 TBI the guy I bought it from said it was rebuilt and bored .33 over? I can't tell but I would love you to help.
Sounds sick man! Just curious, why don't young kids nowadays put Cam's and headers in cars?
What compression ratio is this running? Also what compression ratio would be safe for 87 octane. I'm not sure if I'd asked that before so I might as well make sure.
EragonSuperM THIS ONE IS 8.5 9.1 COMPRESSION ON 87
freakineagle Thanks. Keep the awesome videos coming!
+freakineagle dude that engine soooo awsome
What can is it you are using? Duration and lift please.
Brian it is the Comp Cams Big Muther Thumper on a 107 lobe separation. 243/257 @ .050...lift .522/507
You're a real man... I'm glad you don't live next door to me there HOt Rod
Thank you MemphisSlim.
as if you wouldn't want to hear that everyday I travel 3hrs every year for 15years just to feel real power
TheMemphisSlim when I worked flipping houses there was a house whose neighbor would always wrench on his big block El Camino. when he started it I'd go outside and listen. Boss didn't like it but I had to hear it every time.
Is that the engine you are going to put in the eagle #43? #9
Thanks Chevy for the great comment. Like one guy said, "it made me want to go out and HOWL at the MOON". LOL
I love this motor

Is that a low compression 454 with peanut port heads?
It is a 71 Monte Carlo engine. Low compression, but does not have the real small peanut heads. They are the nice oval port heads.
Do you have a part number on that cam? I wanna put that in my 454 ?
Yes Jeff, I have a few #'s that are on the box..11 - 602 -4, CB 295T H-107 BMT THUMPR,..VX3985-13..It's a 522-507.
damn that sounds great
Did you remove your inner springs when you broke in your cam?
No I do not. I just make sure there is plenty of cam lube on it and make sure to use oil with plenty of ZINK in it. Thanks
Damn that would look good in my Camaro...
SWEET , SWEET
what engine was in the eagle when you did 9 seconds? I saw that clip.. that was insane!
Jimmy Cricket It was a stock bore 454 Baldwin Motion Engine from back in 1973. Stock steel 990 heads with tunnel ram/2-4's and 4:10 12-bolt Chevy rear!! Thanks, Hotrod and #CoupeZilla

I want to do thus so bad. I dont want to drop the engine and for something to be wrong and have to pull it again
Is it all stock other than the cam?
Yes, and aluminum intake with 750 carb.
I used to deliver to them, always dealt with Ernie...
COOL but be careful with that gas being so close o th battery #43 !! #9
I want to put this in a Chevy 1 ton from the mid-late 70's with a 4 manual on the floor!!!!!!
nice
Scrappy, that is a stock 454 with a "thumper" cam in it. Just put a cam in yours and listen it to have a fake idle.
So no power all noise?
Mount it to the mobile generator that u had the big tires on!!!!!
Lets make it happen LOL. Thanks
I got a 454! Neenerrneenerrbooboo
check out the chevy 350 I got on my channel it's not much but it's pretty awesome!!
Hey Hot Rod I watch alot of your videos and like them your motors are a little less power than you think but who cares your doing what you live to do so fuck all these people with there dumbass coments and keep doing your thing.
Gas can+12v battery=kaboom
No disrespect, but the sound coming off the concrete is like a rattling a can of paint.
It will suck the atmosphere
:-)
