- This is my "Freakineagle"...(1981 AMC Eagle SX/4) that I have owned for going on 20 yrs. It has had many different engines in it including a 455 Pontiac, which is practically a bolt in project.... I just finished installing a 70 400 Small Block Chevy with the 70 "041" heads, cam, Strip Dominator, etc. Sweet Cruiser now...
This thing represents an entire time period in drag racing. Really a piece of automotive history. Nice car.
Kewl jeep guy here. And I had fat Thompsons on the 69 torino cobra. Now just slowly rolling straight up in old cj's!

I really enjoyed your video. I'm a 60 year old mechanic and drag racer since my teen years. Getting old but I still have a small fleet of racing and high performance muscle cars. (6 of them) It's rare to see a built up AMC car. In the 80's I worked at AMC dealer for awhile. Thanks for the memories.
I used to have an '86 Eagle DL wagon. Coolest car I've ever owned. I miss that piece of shit so much. I still have dreams of driving it sometimes.
I have owned 2 of the 4 doors. I took my nephew hunten one year so much ice up in the MTN. I told my nephew. B" boy this is gonna test this old girl.going up that full time AWD never even spun.my one was a 1981. My Dad said it don't have enough power to spun.. lol. I said yea.. your right. I'd wish Id seen this 8 years.I'd still be driving it if the gram hadn't got bad rusted. But. I did find another one g 1984. Gave it to my son... Great video Hot Rod R. Great job. Driveshafts on the exhaust is a must, that ping is sweet. Good job man.

KILLER build!! I could look at stuff like this all day. And actually have from time to time spent many hours in friends shops and my own garage finally.
Well done, Sir. I love rods like this cuz it's unique. Nothing wrong with having a badass Camaro, Mustang, etc. but it's cars like this that feel truly special to run around in cuz nobody else has one. Tip of the cap to you for building something special and thinking outside the box.

Hey Ronnie, That's a screaming Eagle you got there, Awesome machine, I know Edinburg Va off I 81 I'm about an hour and half from there, That Eagle sounds great and looks great! Love the fat slicks on the back, No I wasn't bored looking at that machine!
omg...my fav car ever...i had an 83 and 81 parts car. i had creagers on the good one and was on my way to look at a 400 for it when some stupid kids ran a stop sign and totaled her...sent me to the hospital...22 years ago now...been tryin to find one since then but they are pretty dam rare. mine was red with the black stripe on the bottom...4 cyl...dam I loved that car....A coat of wax, shine up the creagers, "Ride the Lightening" in my Sansui deck, and I was a party waiting to happen. i think they look like a Stomper- the toy car. Thanks for the memories

My dad used to drive a "Street freak" 55 chevy in high school, bright orange, white interior, 327 with duel quads. Wish he still had it.
I have a 400 sbc my dad gave me when I was 15, I'm 37 and still have it

I agree flat black and I'd keep the rear tires on it . What a beautiful one of a kind car. Amx were awsome cars seen two nice javelin at a car show this summer in winnepeg. Spoke to the owners just some chill guys willing to share info .the one was a 440 car .I had told the two gentleman my mother had a gremlin x when I was five with the 5spd . Love that car . Man look like you build nice cars .

Awesome looking Ronnie ! But I’ll tell you your gona regret selling.I’ve got the 87 Eagle 4 door. Great going through the snow .I’m wanting to put 340 with 4x4 transfer case with a rad cam.But everything cost so much just have to get a piece at a time.

Sam Johnson hey Sam go back to doing what u were doing before if u are over 18 because u don't even know what it is and you can't form correct grammar to save your life if u are a kid its awesome but has lots is damage to front end to he probably wrecked it look at where the stock hood went do u see one side is higher then the other its frame damage and its not a good motor LS would be lighter even with twin turbo's but its cool i am literally trying to buy it i live in Alaska yes we have a strip lol

Had an 81 Spirit when I lived in Panama City Florida.. Had a 350 in it.. white with blue stripes on the sides.. could smoke that thing for blocks.. lol
Them small blocj 400 will run!! And my runnin buddy in high school he had a 73 hornet sst and a rebel a rambler a gremlin a pacer a matador a javelin. The matador and pacer were dragups we never got em runnin i think we pulled the gremlin motor and put in the javelin damn that was back 79- 80
Same buddys brothern law had a bonneville that sat cept for when we drove it small block 400 would spin it up from here to texas we we puttin half mile long black marks with it. Sold that block to someone who put it in a 67 firebird and it was pullin 115 in quarter with just the same 2 barrel it had. Course it was 4 speed and positive in the firebird.

Camaro and Mustang get all the love, I like to see somebody doing something different. Would have been nice to stay with AMC power but I guess there’s not a lot of options? Maybe just one more size up on the tires (lol, just kidding). Props and thumbs up!

I had bought this engine from a friend and it had a mild cam in it. Probably not over a .480 lift. Thanks for watching. Ronnie
That idle is a nicely tuned machine too. Yeah, I haven't figured out how to cold time my engine. Distributor moved and had my tools stolen so its been sitting getting cleaned as usual while I wait for money to come lol.

We use to turn on the reverse lights when we won. So you knew who won and to start collecting the bets.
That -63 in the background would be cool to get to see too!
I had a new 80 AMX with the 258 6 cyl. mostly stock and would do an honest 124 mph . The bank liked it more than me I guess .

It was a Freakin Eagle, but now it's more of a Freakin' Spirit. And around here, running with the backups lit is an instant ticket, called white light to the rear.
I do still do love it though. Everyone has there preferences. Too bad you couldn't run those tires too.
Musta been a southern thing with the reverse lights cuz it was only not cool to do , but just a good reason to get pulled over.

That car do 12.9 in 1/4mile if that.... no bs i know my street cars. Looks sick though if get flairs for the rear. That turbo 400 blow up fast in hard dig withtrans brake...give it 12 hits or less. Sure it make noise go in air though......geter done brother..good job so far

Theres a hanger loose in the back bottom.
What an exhaust hanger? He showed you the exhaust on the ground that he going to install. Plus the title says "OPEN HEADERS"
I think its some kind of safety device for the prop-shaft (I think you call them a drive-shaft in the US) in case it lets go...

That car is awesome man it reminds me when I was a kid I grew up in Long Island by all the racetracks all the all the tracks and we used to do the same thing take f****** turbo 400 that a GMC pickups in Solomon Camaros with stall speed converter in a good rear end just make animals Street animals in all that talk from the truck converter is in Orange should we sedate freaking messing around miss that shyt
