Tom, nice video again thanks. I did the update with the dji go app (iPad mini 4) it went great apart from when it asked me to detach the USB cable and attach again to refresh the updating proces. But to me the updating through app seems very simple compare to the PC one.

Hi Tom - loved the video, but alas the procedure doesn't work for me. Everything looked fine, but after downloading 100% of the upgrade, the Assistant said "Upgrade failed". I rebooted the P4 and pressed the retry button, but it failed again. And again... iMac running OS 10.10.5 (Yosemite).
My problem is that this happened to me yesterday, as well. Then I really was trying to upgrade to 401, and eventually succeeded by using DJI GO as the connector. Today I was trying to Downgrade (since 401 doesn't work properly on my P4). Unfortunately the DJI GO doesn't allow a downgrade!
Any ideas? [iMac running OS 10.10.5 (Yosemite).]

hey tom one question... before the last update i could put my ph3 in atti mode and achieve faster flyghts , that was very usefull when i had wind situations that i needed the copter to come back faster, also when i put atti mode the sound was louder, like it was pushing a lot of power, after last update, both gps and atti mode achieve same speed and i dont hear the motors speed up in atti mode, is this normal? did dji do that or i need to set that up again?

Hi Tom - first class video. Made the latest update today and re-calibrated IMU etc. However, I noticed during a short test flight the I have a slight yaw and when hovering the P4 goes up and down a few inches as if it cannot find it's correct altitude? I have watched your IMU video and certain I did it right.... and issues for you?
there is no downgrade option in dji assistant... can anyone help please

I keep getting upgrade failed. I'm using an iMac. I did try to reboot the phantom and my computer and also tried deleting and re-installing the software. No luck! :(
Hey Tom, So, I recharged my battery and controller on the P4 and was required to update, I attached the iphone to the drone and it stopped at 99% it sat there for over an hour, then shut off, now when I turn it on it beeps .....constantly, ?? I see this is a common problem, So how do I fix it......cheers!! and keep up the video's

How do you do it on the Mavic?
Trying to upgrade using Assistant but getting nowhere because the App just keeps showing me the animated image saying I need to plug in the USB to the PC. It IS plugged in and the device is showing in my "Devices and Printers" (under Windows 10) under "Unspecified" category as "DJI USB Virtual COM (COM3)". The driver is the latest according to Windows 10.
Nachtrag: Der Kopter ist up to date. Ich bekomme beim overall status keine update Meldung für den RC. Kann ich wohl davon ausgehen das der RC kein update braucht ? Zu den Batteries: Ich hab 3 batteries. Die 1. ist updated beim Kopter update. Die 2. mit der slide function, wie du es gezeigt hast. Bei der 3. kommt keine slide (update) Meldung. Muß ich weiteres damit tun, oder kann es ignoriert werden ? Danke für deine Hilfe (Werde eine Osmo über dich bestellen)

I just unbox Phantom 4 and my controler wont connect to P4... Everything is charged, green light on controler is green, and software (DJI Assistant2 and DJI GO) are up to date. I can go into (grey colored button) camera mode but dji go still says its disconected. Please help.
now I don't have that downgrade option and I've updated my Drone yesterday right before my vacations.... Now my first day of filming on a vacation turned to terrible... Please help.

Thanks for this tutorial. I followed this exact protocol 3 times now, uninstalling assistant 2, restarting my iMac, reinstalling assistant 2, and each time after downloading 100% of firmware it tells me it failed. It hasn't done this in the past. Do you have some advice?

Normal setup. Connect rc with mobile device. Power RC, than power Phantom. Just as you normally would. Stay tuned and fly safe!

So some unverifed chinese drivers was installed by the dji assistant 2. just a headsup.
Where is it documented that DJI does not recommend the Go App for upgrading firmware? This makes no sense to me. Upgrading with the app and my iPad has worked flawlessly for me for every upgrade.
Tsk Tom, why would batteries need to be updated, by the way!? It's my first DJI (P4) and I updated the firmware with the tablet App (a few days ago), then flew all of my 3 batteries the same day, not having been asked to upgrade as you show while you reconnect the tablet after the Copter Laptop update!? would it mean that updating the copter with the tablet does not need to re update will all spare batteries!? Weird, thus my question. Cheers and Safe Flying!

Not sure if this will help everyone but I fixed the "no downgrade option" problem by:
1) uninstalling current version of DJI assistant
2) (from dji's website) downloading the "DJI Assistant FOR PHANTOM" installer...
turn's out I was using the "DJI Assistant" program which has been discontinued for a while now (I had no idea). DJI now has assistants for all different DJI models, so if you have a Phantom, download the Phantom installer, if you have a Mavic, download the Mavic installer...
Hopefully this helps someone out!
Also, is anyone having trouble with their Phantom 4 controller not taking a full charge?
Too bad the Pro + does not allow for downgrading. It doesn't even show any versions at all. DJI have made a mess of the latest upgrades!
