Hey everyone! Initially, I had trouble getting the outro solo down. I spent so much time tabbing the song and creating the backing track that I neglected actually practicing. When I started playing the solo, my fingertips were too soft to hold the bends for any more than a couple of measures. To toughen my fingertips again, I practiced bending on an Acoustic guitar with 13 gauge strings. SRV would approve I'm sure. When I returned to playing this solo, it was much easier! Lesson learned and note to self - keep practicing as you are tabbing. I have double tracked the lead guitars in this to give the classic sound. The only difference is that I didn't stray from the guitar that I heard in the right speaker from listening to the recording. So I made it one tab and decided not to overcomplicate things. Really enjoyed working on this song and I hope you have fun learning it!

I think what people forget about this song when performing it live is that the greatness of the solo depends upon the tightness of all the other instruments. Incredible :) I also wanted to learn this song for ages. This video will be extremely helpful. I can't thank you enough for all the amazing work you do.
Also it's actually a wood effect. You can see the base texture is not wood, because the strains look at the same spot while the guitar is moving. Hence, it's still a pretty dope effect 😄

Awesome cover, big props getting that Gary sound and using an SG, his signature for the slide parts. Idk no if the guitar turning to green was a weird comp issue but imma think you played it on two guitars and seamlessly edited those parts together because that was dope
The Explorer is really in a green finish, so he used it as a green screen to get a natural finish
Looks like he taped green tape all over the explorer to create a green screen on the guitar for videos, pretty smart. Green screen just happened to mess up for a second and show what the guitar really looks like haha
@@cosmicbro1973 Definitely green tape and green screen, I didn't notice until it glitched though lol. Afterwards it was obvious when looking at the outline of the guitar.
Taped up green, then green screened to look yellow, and the effect losing colour was on purpose. It didn't just happen to change just as that long bend note was about to hit ha
If I leave here tomorrow
Would you still remember me?
For I must be traveling on, now
'Cause there's too many places I've got to see
[Pre-Chorus]
But if I stay here with you, girl
Things just couldn't be the same
[Chorus]
'Cause I'm as free as a bird now
And this bird you cannot change
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
And the bird you cannot change
And this bird you cannot change
Lord knows, I can't change
[Bridge]
[Verse 2]
Bye, bye, baby, it's been a sweet love, yeah yeah
Though this feeling I can't change
But please don't take it so badly
'Cause Lord knows I'm to blame
[Pre-Chorus]
But, if I stay here with you, girl
Things just couldn't be the same
[Chorus]
'Cause I'm as free as a bird now
And this bird you'll never change
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
And the bird you cannot change
And this bird you cannot change
Lord knows, I can't change
Lord help me, I can't change
[Outro]
Lord, I can't change
Won't you fly high, free bird, yeah
Wowie, it's amazing how difficult this song actually isn't lol
You are not a human! Guitar hero!
Awesome cover, big props getting that Gary sound and using an SG, his signature for the slide parts. I read a few times that Gary got that perfect slide sound that sounded almost like a lap steel by placing a nail between the strings and saddles on his bridge to raise the action just enough to avoid the frets while sliding but still leave the action playable.
I just watched and enjoyed every second of this. THANK YOU
6:31 lol
lol
Oh yeah baby, all the licks of pentatonic scale 😎. It's time to impress some kids.
Lo voy mirando 6 veces desde que salio... La canción de mi vida😳
The simplicity makes this solo great, it lets people go crazy!
Es como ver como vuelve el dios de los Tabs
Absolutely brilliant Mr Tabs.
Free bird is one of those tunes you hear as a youngster and it makes you want to pick up a guitar
Os caras para darem dislike desta vídeo aula devem ser uns deuses na guitarra, o cara mandou super bem mesmo, se eu tocasse metade do que ele tocou estaria fazendo uns showzinho em barzinhos por aí, parabéns 👏👏👏
Exatamente
That was just so good I'm jealous. One of the worlds greatest songs played by someone who obviously loves it as much as I do. 👏👏👏🤟
It’s been my dream to play this solo since I was about 8 years old. I’ve played guitar for 3 years now. One day. ✌🏻
I have no doubt that you can!
My man is so skilled his guitar changed green for a sec 😂 but seriously this guys tabs taught me how to play free bird
I have everything nailed up until 6:33 , anyone have any tips for this part?
Kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Was listening to this song today and always wondered how he does them insane hammer ons and pull offs. THANK YOU
Mate, this is amazing playing. So much hard work. Thank you for sharing
Thank you too!
Double tracked the solo, that’s why it’s perfect. Good job.
Did nobody notice that the guitar change color from yellow to green and now green back to yellow
You deserve all the subscribers in the world. Thank you!
The green screen malfunction on the guitar killed me
