    Looks/sounds like an absolute winner! But, I know my wife would be much happier if I purchased the XP 3.0 Long Range, as I could pick up a pair for the same price as 1 One. However, all the new tech in the One is incredible and very impressive. It'd be my 1st choice in my next e-bike for sure! Well done, Lectric! You guys keep giving your customers more value in your bikes!

    Good first take on the bike. Looking forward to your complete test.
    I think that any bike with a Pinion gearbox for $2k is a real bargain. The question will be if enough Lectric buyers care enough about pedaling to want an automatic transmission on a hub motor bike. I don't really use the shifter on my hub motor bikes. It is always easier to just throttle from a stop before starting any pedaling.
    Their decision to offer this bike with a 10ah battery in order to meet a $2k price point seems like a bad choice to me, though. The 1300 watt peak output is an excessive load for such a small battery. The 14ah should be the smallest battery offered imo.
    At least Lectric seems to have learned something from the lackluster sales of the XPremium and given this bike more power and performance than an XP3.0.
    Lectric has once again been innovative and provided something different at an accessible price. I think this bike is a nice new option in the market. I hope it sells well for them.

      Yes, agree with JJ. Way too much hype around new tech, which is always nice to have of course, but doesn't actually deliver me much benefit. I have a torquey hub motor and don't change gear much at all, even from a standstill - I either dab the throttle or pedal a bit harder. Derailieur and chain work fine for me - cheap, light, efficient and reliable. I would rather have a suspension seat-post and forks, plus a decent battery.

    • @srobeck77
      @srobeck77 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not shifting and using the manual the throttle from start (especially in high gear), is hard on your hub motor, stretches your chain, sprockets, and also impacts battery life. Lots of youtubes on this subject to explain that. For people too lazy to shift thru gears, automatics are a far better choice so you dont wear out your equipment prematurely.

    • @richardhopkins3214
      @richardhopkins3214 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@srobeck77 Those issues affect mid-motors, not hub-drives. While a mid-motor and an automatic hub like the Enviolo are certainly attractive options, they are mechanically complex and stuffed full of extra electronics so they add very substantial extra purchase cost, plus transmission maintenance charges and, potentially, reliability issues too. A torquey hub-motor with derailleur and throttle is actually a very hard set-up to beat for the majority of users - cheap, simple, reliable and easy to ride. Mid-drives win on heavy hill-climbing, there's little doubt about that, but they lose on just about every other metric.

    Priority Bikes has 2 bikes with Pinion gearboxes and Gates drives, one with Smart.Shift, both under $4k. Though neither is an electric bike.
    But definitely a little disappointed, like the other comments, by the small battery sizes. Not getting much commuting if you're getting less than 15 miles in PAS 4 and less than 10 in PAS 5.

      Outside of the pinion gearbox, the rest of the components are junk tbh. They don't mention the brake brand, battery cell brand, motor brand, etc. They're using Chaoyang tires and non-smoothed welds on a $2k ebike...

      Yeah, I gotta wonder if they wouldn't have been better off with an upgraded rework of the XPremium. If they gave the mid drive around 1200 peak watts, a belt drive, and an internally geared rear hub, I think it could have been a success. I'm just not convinced that enough people care about putting a thousand dollar gearset on a hub motor bike to make this new Lectric One successful.

    It's definitely an amazing bike and all but like I said at other comment section, at that price point I don't see the average raider going for the One over their already awesome XP 3.0 I personally if I was going to get a premium ebike I'll get me an Aventon Aventure 2 for a few hundreds $ less than the One. In conclusion and in my opinion the XP 3.0 it's still the best ebike out there at a price that's within almost every budget.

    "One of Pinion's representatives at the announcement said that the cheapest bike with the Pinion in the U.S. goes for around $13,000." Actually, in the video, the Pinion rep is referring to their Smartshift Pinion gearbox.
    Priority Bikes of New York, whose entire line is of chainless bikes (mostly pedal bikes, but they do have an electric bike) only utilizing the Gates Belt Drive on all their bikes, sells their Priority 600 for several years now which uses the Pinion 12-speed Drive for $2,400. Yes, it is a pedal bike, But I only wanted to mention that Pinion's fascinating and desirable shifting system is being used already in the U.S. in some bikes.

      A couple of things to consider: low Wh will depend on the efficiency of the system. Some of our longest ever range tests came from medium sized batteries on more efficient setups. And they also have battery upgrade options too.
      We'll have to get it range tested to see if the 499Wh is enough or if you should expect to upgrade to the larger battery!

      That tiny battery pack is definitely not enough . There is a large range of e-bikes at the $2000 price range that out does this new e-bike in every way but the fancy gear box . What good does a fancy gearbox do if you cannot even make it through one e-bike group ride . I need pedal assist 5 when i ride and the listed range is 9 miles . I average under every listed range on e-bikes listed range so possibly 7 miles ? Just no 😂 .. don’t even get me started on the no suspension.

    Okay, it would help if you stopped saying a product should be made for $5K. Bikes are crazy expensive, and you're just making it worse by telling the manufacturer that a product should cost $5K, which they are not. Otherwise, this is an excellent review of the bike.

    • @ElectricBikeReport
      @ElectricBikeReport  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the feedback! We meant more that we would expect the bike to cost that much based on its features; things like the Pinion gearbox usually don't appear on bikes below $5k. We give Lectric serious kudos for finding a way to include that on a bike in this price range!

    I can't wait until America can get the pinion MGU... But sadly you(everyone) needs a completely different bike frame to use the stupid MGU....no swap in with the current gear boxes....
    No climbing hills in test....and screw cadence sensors for assistance...but the majority of you will only use throttle anyways so what's the point of pedals or pinion...

    Nothing about this bike sounds like $5000 quality like you say, is this a sponsored video?

    • @ElectricBikeReport
      @ElectricBikeReport  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Pinion gear so far has really on been found on $5000+ bikes. That's why we're saying it's like it's a $5000 bike in that regard - this is kinda nuts Lectric could get the price down to $2000 for all the parts this has and for what they are typically going for on other bikes.
      Not a sponsored video. We genuinely just think this is pretty cool.

    48 volt 10.4ah battery
    No rear suspension
    750 nominal motor
    28mph top speed
    Gates carbon drive belt but does that make it a 2000 dollar bike? Does it make the bike fly or something? They can keep their belt drive id rather have a 52-60v 25-40ah battery ebike with better design and better quality parts that's goes much faster and has double the range for the same price. Sorry letric no buying into this one.

    Seems like an over complicated and finicky bike that will be prone to premature breakdowns without any additional speed performance for the additional double the price cost. I’ll take the Chevy corvette over a Porsche any day of the week. 🤨

    You only throw "haymakers" when you're desperate and outclassed; when you don't have any other punches that are working. Why is the Lectric One build a haymaker? Why is Lectric so desperate, to where they have to come out throwing haymakers??

    Pinion is an awesome gearbox, combined with Gates belt drive and that's a great combination. However, I don't understand placing Pinion and Gates on such a low-quality, unattractive 20" children's bike. It cheapens the names of these two excellent companies and reminds me of the bikes that you would see circus bears performing on. Those bikes were purposely used to add the "ridiculous/comedic factor" to the performance. To each their own.
