Being so aware of your existence and your reality can eventually become the perfect trigger for depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts. If you don't loose up a bit, if you don't let yourself (yourself meaning mind and spirit) take a break from analysing and trying to find the meaning of every second of your live, you'll most likely end up depressed. It's very difficult for brilliant people to battle with their own demons. As I watched the documentary roadrunner, there is a part of him that I can somehow relate to. The only difference is that he has access to everything he wanted. An enviable job, great family, fame and reverence but that isolation caused more harm than good I believe
I think knowing Anthony Bourdain would have been like knowing every other purposefully edgey, overly-opinionated, druggie and hypocrite that I have ever had the misfortune to be around. So what if he could cook? An asshole is an asshole whether he is the head chef at some clip joint fake ass French restaurant in New York City or peeing on the toilet seat in podunk Oklahoma! He's five years gone and who misses the jerk other than people just like him?
When I saw roadrunner and they played his all time favorite song, I about died. Of course it would be anemone by the Brian Jones town massacre. I think it's one of the greatest songs of all time. I miss you man, what a genuinely great soul you are.
I think what really kept bourdain from seeking the help was his public persona. It probably made him think that any admittance of anything other than that persona, would come back to bite him when seeking the right help might have him with us today.
years ago we were on vacation in NJ and NYC, one day we went to Little China and Italy, there was a restaurant called Hop Kee that you walk down a set of stairs below sidewalk level, while waiting for our order, In walks Bourdain, He was seated across from me and my now ex wife (a filipina ) we knew he was a chef at the time and asked him if he had ever been to the Philippines or ate filipino food. to which he responded yes, we talked for a bit about his experience there, he was a great guy, very expressive about things he enjoyed. When we finished eating and went to pay the bill, we noticed the numerous pictures on the wall of famous people who had been at the restaurant. Bourdain was on that wall so he must have eaten there regularly.. I enjoyed his tv shows and miss them.
Mental illness is not comprehensible to a neurotypical individual but I’m glad people are willing to listen. No amount of money success or fame can ease the suffering mind. Unfortunately most suffer without those accomplishments in poverty
Depression is a complex condition and not well understood. It is different in each person; and it can be very resistant to treatment. Success, money, wealth, fame do not help a person who lives with depression. Many chronically depressed people fantasize about suicide which is a symptom of depression. It is a great loss to see someone who was beloved by so many end his life when so many years lay before him.
I could tell he was a asshole from the beginning but through the years of watching him I could see him grow personally and it was for the better, he actually became a better person I think we all have the ability to grow and learn from another and within ourselves. Hopefully people will remember him for the good things he's done and for the things he's went through and he has overcame.
He cried out when alive, but no one showed support until he was dead. You dont know what you got til its gone. Cherish what you have and send support to people you appreciate and love before its too late! ❤❤❤
6:34 Try some respect please. All humans are incredibly vulnerable it's not a flaw, its part of humanity, so don't use that emotion as a defining trait. We love, we hate, we're happy and sad. We feel all those emotions. Some of us keep those feelings inside, some can let it out over the stars, others can only write it down on paper or a digital device. I do believe that we all want and deserve to love and be loved. The road to those feelings is much longer for some, and those who travel the farthest, sometimes never reach the end.
The bad thing about doing drugs is the fact that the chemistry of your brain is forever changed especially if a person was a big drug user. This guy admitted to doing a lot of drugs and I believe it had an effect on why he went into such really deep depressions.
Yes but if u don't understand drugs then cannot comment on why they are bad once u like 1 or more drugs and are addicted u cannot sleep sleep picture that perfore making comments about drugs they take all and everything from I realize you'll never sleep sober and sound until you're off then that the realization do some research

The more I try to be invisible, the more the demon people single me out and cause suffering. If I had an off switch I would be long gone - if only I could sleep and never wake up!
I think we have a lot to learn about people with mental illness that they don’t have to live this way and there’s other people who will help carry their burden, even if they don’t want to
What? Bitter not to be dropping acid in San Francisco? When playing the Grateful Dead was a firing offense in his restaurants? No mention of the shame Asia brought upon him. Heard that took him to a dark place he couldn't return from.
🥵💦💦💦💦
Get out her dude… this guy did the exact same and worse to her….he’s died from his own narcissism
And they never will, because in today's society "shut shaming" is way worse than a female sleeping with a 17 year old kid.
If she had been a man she would literally be in prison. Especially during #metoo.
@@heatherchevelle799 lol what did he do? I never heard anything. Are you just assuming because he's a man, and shes a woman? Or do you actually know he did something?
@@heatherchevelle799I guess females are always the victims quit with your buklshiy if you don't wanna anger me
Anthony was my favorite chef. Loved his honesty which was refreshing. Miss you dude. ❤
R.I.P Anthony, you are truly missed. 🙏🏼
Somewhere after 45-50, people start to change. You reach a fork in the road. Which way you go depends on the years behind you. Happy trails!
Tony was my hero. I have every one of his books. I've watched every one of his shows. I miss him so much, and I'm sad that I'll never get to meet him.
Just my opinion, his last girlfriend was his emotional/mental downfall.
Always enjoyed his no nonsense way❤️
Bourdain’s life and work deserves more than the disrespect of a bot voiceover
Loved to watch Parts unknown, still do, something very watchable about Anthony Bourdain! Missed!
I think what really kept bourdain from seeking the help was his public persona. It probably made him think that any admittance of anything other than that persona, would come back to bite him when seeking the right help might have him with us today.
Strongly agree...
My favorite chef, I despised and despise most chefs but he is one of the few I respected more.
Sad but somehow it makes me feel not so alone . I can relate so much
years ago we were on vacation in NJ and NYC, one day we went to Little China and Italy, there was a restaurant called Hop Kee that you walk down a set of stairs below sidewalk level, while waiting for our order, In walks Bourdain, He was seated across from me and my now ex wife (a filipina ) we knew he was a chef at the time and asked him if he had ever been to the Philippines or ate filipino food. to which he responded yes, we talked for a bit about his experience there, he was a great guy, very expressive about things he enjoyed. When we finished eating and went to pay the bill, we noticed the numerous pictures on the wall of famous people who had been at the restaurant. Bourdain was on that wall so he must have eaten there regularly.. I enjoyed his tv shows and miss them.
Why does every person from the Philippines have nothing to add to a conversation other than being one?
@@Tazzyone. go get a life loser
Mental illness is not comprehensible to a neurotypical individual but I’m glad people are willing to listen. No amount of money success or fame can ease the suffering mind. Unfortunately most suffer without those accomplishments in poverty
I truly miss Anthony Bourdain...❤.
We never know what people are struggling with.
I will always love you Tony...you are still the man 😇
May you rest now Anthony. 😓💜😓
So charismatic, yet so troubled! Very sad
I immensely miss him, Robin Williams, and Chester B. (Linkin Park) 3 amazing men who took their lives. 🥺
TRaJic LIVES , U mean
He cried out when alive, but no one showed support until he was dead. You dont know what you got til its gone. Cherish what you have and send support to people you appreciate and love before its too late! ❤❤❤
This is amazing. Thank you so much. I cried.
Bourdain: "It's narcissistic to assume that people will wanna watch you on tv."
Tiktokers/Influencers: "Hold my narcissism."
Thank you for an informative video
I think we all have demons, however some people get to a point where they don't want to deal with it
anymore!
Rest in Peace!!!
Great reporting on Anthony Bourdain life story
Bourdain is that chaotic mix of wisdom, self loathing, irreverence and fearlessness that some seek at the bottom of a bottle.
he was an amazing figure . i looked forward to his shows daily he made me smile
❤️ Sadly missed…🍾🥂
The bad thing about doing drugs is the fact that the chemistry of your brain is forever changed especially if a person was a big drug user. This guy admitted to doing a lot of drugs and I believe it had an effect on why he went into such really deep depressions.
Yes but if u don't understand drugs then cannot comment on why they are bad once u like 1 or more drugs and are addicted u cannot sleep sleep picture that perfore making comments about drugs they take all and everything from I realize you'll never sleep sober and sound until you're off then that the realization do some research
Depression and anxiety is ruff health problems and drinking is even worse i go through depression really bad i don't know what all he went through but I do kinda understand
R.I.P. Tony. Till we break bread again
Still hurts
The best whoever done it, I miss his shows. One of my favorites of all times!!!
Wish he could have gotten the help he needed, humanity was HIM”
Love the pictures of Tony and Carlos! RIP
6:43 I think this quote can be used to describe a lot of great artists
I didn't know that he committed suicide he was a good chef i love watching his shows may his soul rest in peace 😢
Miss Tony's shows on TV. Best show on TV. RIP Tony.
RIP Anthony B. 🙏
GREAT VIDEO
That was the ONLY thing I WATCHED ON CNN, really stunned to hear he had died ! When they finished his series, that was the end of CNN for me SAD,,,,,REAL SAD. RIP TONY 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Ohhhhh how I miss him. RIP. Ohhhhh how I miss him.
I can def relate. RIP my brother.
Love ya man
Died of a broken heart that threw him off the edge of life RIP Anthony!
I suffer from Anxiety and Depression. My life is one of poverty and is extremely mundane. Curses find me and cut me off at the knees. The more I try to be invisible, the more the demon people single me out and cause suffering. If I had an off switch I would be long gone - if only I could sleep and never wake up!
Did Stevie from GMM do the voiceover?
I miss Anthony Bourdain, i loved his show too
I miss him.
he made me want to try new food cultures etc.
I sure do miss the guy. He was a truly interesting person.
I think we have a lot to learn about people with mental illness that they don’t have to live this way and there’s other people who will help carry their burden, even if they don’t want to
Miss this guy, RIP brother
Put him alongside Mike Rowe as my faves
#1 pal I'd want to experience Amsterdam with. I love you you crazy wonderful guy.
I enjoyed his work.
You will be forever missed chef
This is not good but encouraged me that it’s not just me who suffers depression and at times in verge of doing it.
What? Bitter not to be dropping acid in San Francisco? When playing the Grateful Dead was a firing offense in his restaurants?
Seriously, despite his demons, he doesn't seem to have treated his coworkers and employees as badly as so many celebrity chefs have, as fame and ego grew. He even managed to apologize to Emeril.
It’s so insane how connected I feel to his spirit… rest in peace!
I'm Very Sad about "the end": extraordinary person! Wish I meet him in my place and help.
I do not believe he committed suicide. I believe he knew about the human trafficking and more..
The GOAT.
