I'm 73 years old. I've been a music fanatic since '64 when the Beatles hit.
The Grunge era was a rebirth of what has come to be known as Classic Rock.
It was influenced by that era but totally new and fresh.
I was fortunate enough to see Zeppelin, Hendrix, Chicago, the Stones The Animals The Kinks, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers The cars, and many more.
Blind Melon, AIC and the Afghan Whigs are in my top ten Bands of all time.
The nineties set the standard for the future and set the table for a new resurgence of generational music.
Unfortunately, no one picked up the mantle.

I was at the Hollywood Palace show a week before he died. I am an old time rocker. And this band really grabbed me. I felt lots of Led Zep in their music. Not an imitation, but rather a continued conversation, if you get what I am saying. For us old rockers, there is no one to take up the mantle. Blind Melon was right there.

Agreed. Both friends of Chris Cornell. You can see the fork necklace in "Spoonman" that Shannon made for him and he and Andrew were roommates. I've always though that's where the idea for "Outshined" came from since "Mother Love Bone's" first EP was entitled "Shine." Chris is amazing (and so were Andrew and Shannon). Layne was a friend too. You do know "Would?" was written about Andrew, right?

Him and Layne Staley both born 1967, both struggling with drug addiction, Layne (2002) one of the greatest of all time, Shannon burned out like a shooting star (1995) musically if I had one wish it would be for an MTV unplugged Blind Melon, people really do not understand how good this band was

We had some of the best bands in the 90's. Saw them about a month before Hoon died back in 1995 at 1st Ave in Minneapolis. The guitar jams have that southern rock/blues feel to it, Stevens and Thorn just played off each other so well. And as an extra treat, when you are stoned you can really hear the bong water bubbles in the background.

“Hey, I'd like to daze away
To a place no one has known
In a state of mind I could call mine
    That only I could own
Where I could hum a tune anytime I choose
And then there is no such thing as time
Where I can feel no pain, just calm and sane
What a place for one to find” one of the most amazing lyrics ever.
