I have been lucky enough to have seen them three times. The first was at Lollapalooza 92' when Blood Sugar Sex Magic came out. That performance at Palooza blew my mind. After all these years they have not lost a bit of energy and passion for the music they create.
The solo is just perfect for the song, a great example of how an instrumental part, in order to be "good", does not necessarily mean "technically great" but great for the song, for the context

speaks to the beauty of our dark sides and how much creativity and growth and light actually comes out of those difficult struggles that we have on the inside of our heads that no one else can see.
Thats kind of been there adventure. Trying to balance between making great music and making likable music. This song kind of does have a good balance. I find it, as a bass player impossible, to ever limit myself to one song as i hold flea in the best of the best category.
Josh is amazing. If you think about what he has actually accomplished, hes learnt the songs, kept my favorite band going ,wrote new songs , learnt to tour , learnt to be part of the band, and dealt with the never ending comparison to John. He is a really astounding guy.

It's got real depth, a lot going on instrumentally and vocally, in the subtle arrangements... I get more from the bridge each time through, and yea the way they wrap it up and bring it home... saying this is oh so good is inadequate, it's masterful and they make it seem almost easy.
I love Josh. I can't imagine something more difficult than be the one after John. And please guys, tell me one guitarist who can imitate the way John played. Josh is doing his best, his own, and he does it with love. That's what count.
Joe Blow Hillel Slovak was the original, yes. But he died early in RHCP's career. John was the best to fill the position. Josh was the best to fill John's position. I think we can all agree. If Hillel was still alive and with the red hot chili peppers today, the band would still be amazing, but it wouldn't be the same. I'm not saying it would be better or worse. I'm just saying that it would be different.
If only Josh was able to play guitar... Saw him twice anf he wasn't able to play a single song normally. He ruined all old song, he's only able to play new one unfortunately.

My only memories of my grandmother for 30+ years involved her talking shit about my parents, whichever one she happened to be angry at at the time. Took me a long time because I tried to convince her to enjoy what years she had left, but it was a fool's errand, eventually just cut ties with her for good. You sound like a cool grandma.

They wouldn't have ever or still exist if not for Anthony and Flea. I love them all and often find my mind drifting trying to decide which Pepper I love most. I usually go back and forth between Anthony and John but nobody makes me smile like Flea, what a multi-talented genius. Hillel was great ,Dave is great but I don't think he's found the right home since Jane's. No one fit w/ RHCP like John. So glad we didn't loose him❤️✌️🎶🌶️
When this song was released, I was one of the few people who truly appreciated Josh's notes. While While some fans of Frusciante were initially critical of Josh's notes, over time, the fame of this song grew. Those who initially opposed Josh came to accept the fact that his notes are truly genius. This song alone is outperforming their two newly released albums from two years ago. There was a debate about whether this song was all about Flea's beat, but now, after several years, everyone is praising Josh and his talent. Sometimes, time changes many people's tastes and, of course, their feelings towards specific artists.
I think this is the standout track on the album. They were right making it Single #1. I find myself singing to it all the time. it's an infectious song.
The most important thing about RHCP is they kept their sound, they evolved, but they kept to their roots. They never changed what they were about. They stayed true, and are still doing that. One band that will forever be remembered, and never forgotten.

That's a change in the music industry itself with all the different options they have to get music now, not indicative of quality. It may not be their best work but it was still a solid album.

It's got real depth, a lot going on instrumentally and vocally, in the subtle arrangements... I get more from the bridge each time through, and yea the way they wrap it up and bring it home... saying this is oh so good is inadequate, it's masterful and they make it seem almost easy.
I love Josh. I can't imagine something more difficult than be the one after John. And please guys, tell me one guitarist who can imitate the way John played. Josh is doing his best, his own, and he does it with love. That's what count.
Joe Blow Hillel Slovak was the original, yes. But he died early in RHCP's career. John was the best to fill the position. Josh was the best to fill John's position. I think we can all agree. If Hillel was still alive and with the red hot chili peppers today, the band would still be amazing, but it wouldn't be the same. I'm not saying it would be better or worse. I'm just saying that it would be different.
