I ordered mine from insta360's website. They don't charge sales tax for orders. I love that. I live in Illinois where we definitely have sales tax.
Ugh I messed up then. 😼
Thanks for video Scott, interesting to see your opinion after a few days of using. If it was worth to upgrade.
Seems like some people express concern with limitation with reframing.
Dji osmo action 2 vs insta360 go 3s?
Which has better details in 4k?
Which is better for pov?
How do you lock it in landscape mode …. I am tired of recording sideways shots …..
Nice job. I was wondering about the ND filters, thanks. Question. Do you think you really get better dynamic range by shooting in the flat color profile? I feel like vivid looks so good, is it worth the extra work?
Is a great question depends on what you wanna do with it in post and really the argument is if you’re shooting with a camera like this are you really looking to make it that much better in post so you’re probably good with standard or vivid to get your quick shot and look the most saturated if that’s what you want
@@ScottsReviews thanks just got mine today and also do reviews, excited to try it.
Where are you sat, what is that location?
Great informative video! Thanks
In your comparison tests: with the Go3s must Every recording START with the standalone camera positioned horizontally if i want to later edit 16:9 horizon-locked footage recorded in FreeFrame mode? In my own experiment i started record with the standalone camera vertically and turned it upside down in Horizon-lock mode. Once the footage was imported into the Insta360 app, it defaults to 9:16 with level footage. Once i change the ration to 16:9 the horizon-lock disappears and the footage is in the new ratio but shaky, unleveled. Just wondering if i'm doing something wrong or this is the set-back of this new shooting feature.
I will look into this. Thanks.
I like the new 3s for portrait/landscape shooting, the 3 is kind of weird, it always auto rotates to landscape but there's a trick to 'locking' it in either a portrait or landscape mode. With the 3, if you want to shoot 'TikTok' mode as you call it lol just after you hit the record button on the camera, turn it to a vertical position, it will 'lock' it in that position, then you just rotate it post. Now you could just shoot in FreeVideo mode but you lose the 2.7K res. The new 3s will shoot at the angle of the camera. I wish the 3 could do the same, kind of annoying lol
Remember no freeframe mode is probably useless, no real Horizon lock without massive crop, no keyframes, no rotation no reframe. Due to the new lens size that now creates an image that cover the full sensor, perfect for 4k but useless in terms of reframe
How long can you record a video on 64GB in 4K 30?
I just bought the go3. If it was called the go 4 I definitely would have bought that one instead. Bad marketing i guess. Also at the end they literally look the same. Im glad i saved a little money.
7:36 Does that effect how you use the camera, now there is an extra step you have have to think about before hitting record. i.e. where you are gonna post the video?
I am telling myself to keep it horizontal all the time. I don’t record 9:16 to often.
If you record on free frame mode, does it still matter if its horizontal or vertical?
No. You would change your orientation and post.
Very useful comparison, thanks. With these AI driven cameras I do wonder whether the normal practice of using low sharpness and perhaps adding it later really is the best approach. Personally with the X4 I think low sharpness loses detail as well as sharpness and the 8k advantage is lost. With the Go 3 and Go 3s I wonder whether the same is true. A personal taste thing but I feel they need all the help they can get to avoid trees and other textured stuff in the middle and far distance just turning into fuzz. A side by side comparison shot or two of low and medium sharpness would be interesting to see. Such comparisons in X4 videos have been very revealing.
I will work on that. Good point.
Good video. Wish it was just on standard color profile & auto settings w/ regard to sharpness.
I’ll be making a lot more and I’ll hit that point thanks
do the go 3s and go 3 have the same horizon lock?
No, if you want horizon lock in the go3s you need freeframe mode + 360 Horizon lock, which crops the whole image a lot, loosing all wide footage.
Now freeframe mode is useless, no reframe, no rotation no keyframes.
@@MpchBrwn in other words GO 3 is still ok because it has horizon lock
Are there any ways to pull raw files?
For photos ?
Nice job, Scott, as always. Ugh, Go 3 ND’s don’t fit Go 3S - that’s a $hame.
This is not a $hame, there are technical reasons for this, as the lens has to cover a larger image circle due to the 4:3 sensor.
Cool video, thanks! Nice to see them side-by-side to compare.
But - WHY would you change the sides part way through?? LOL Go3S was on the right... Aaaaannnnddd now it's on the left! wth? Hahahaha!!
Not a big deal obviously, but puzzling.
Got to keep you guessing. Ha. In a longer comparison video I like to switch b/c once your brain knows the right side is the new camera then you will automatically start to favor that image before really looking. #science ha
Not that much of a difference.
