Great content and thank you for taking the time to share it. I’m 70 years old and have shot my own stills and video for my farm and ranch sales company for nearly 20 years now. I just purchased the Pocket 3 as a way to just have fun shooting video without all the weight of my GH5 and G9II setups with their monitors and other attachments. I have subscribed and look forward to watching more of your great videos. Jim in Oregon
Hi Jim, thank you for the message. I’m glad you’ve been either entertained or can take something away from my video. So thank you for reaching out! Yes, I find the P3 takes a lot of hassle out compared to the bigger cameras - and it’s something I’m mentioning in a future video 👍 also, thanks for letting me know where you’re watching. I always find it fascinating how far my videos have reached! Thanks again and have a great day Jim! 🙌
Great video. I bought the pocket3 for the video quality. I also have the Sony a7siii but adding this to a gimbal and not being 100% sure of my skill level with such a great camera, I find I can get excellent real estate videos with the P3. Note, ND filters are a must on this thing to get pleasing footage. Anyway… after my ramble. I picked up your interview was at 25 fps and slow motion at 120 fps. Am I missing something, did you switch from PAL ?
Great that you have a use case for the P3. And as you say, to keep that shutter speed in check, the ND filters are a must! I shot the real time footage in 25fps and the slow motion in 100fps. But in the 'Top 5' example I just said 120fps to make it a bit different. Hope that clears it up 🙂 Thanks for watching!! 🙌
Fantastic video, Paul! I have started bringing my Pocket 3 when I’m filming weddings and it is so handy when used in conjunction with my Canon R5 mirrorless cameras. You can get really unique angles and in good lighting it is so much better than mucking around with a big gimbal.
Thank you! Glad you have found a great use for it. I think most of us can find a use for a device like this for sure! Hope it's producing the goods for you! 😁👊
Interesting and informative. The other approach would be to use your phone camera instead - the technology and image quality of iPhones have really become fantastic- 10 bit Log shooting in ProRes- and 3 native lenses for varied focal lengths. It seems the 'gimbal' is what you are giving up with a phone - though phone stabilization is getting very good. Thoughts on this versus an iPhone Pro??
Absolutely valid points. I’m probably a bit old school in my approach, but everyone is different. I grew up with camcorders in the 80s & 90s. As you say, why not on a phone? I guess it’s just preference. I use my phone a lot for bits of social, but don’t tend to go much further. Also everyone has a phone now, so it’s good to be different? 😀👍
Paul thanks for the footage .. look forward to watching the other channel that has pocket three usage. Which question, regarding the weight issue and shakiness of subjects in the foreground you mentioned that going slow motion May solve the issue? Do you mean moving slowly ( like a ninja) or shooting in slow-mo?
Thanks! Hopefully we'll have a few shoots done over the next month, so I will report back 👍 it's difficult to solve the shake issue, but if recording in 100fps it isn't as noticeable. Unfortunately its just a quirk of having a light camera.
Thank YOU for watching! I bought the P3 just to test it out and I was going to pair it with the Rode Go 2. Because the quality of the camera is so good (and how easy it worked with the Mic2), I invested in it afterwards. The duel mic version was around £300.
Great video!! I’m looking to purchase my first camera. My vlogs are simple, mainly shot at home, but I want a camera that's easily portable and not too flashy, since I'm quite timid. Do you think this would be a good option as my first and only camera for now?🤔
Thank you so much and thanks for the message. It sounds like the pocket could be ideal for you. You can vlog easily with it. You can also hold your face on the screen and it will track you. Which means you’ll always be in the centre of the frame. The Pocket has a good mix of auto and manual settings so you can play around and see what works for you. As I mentioned in the video, the integration with the Mic 2 also means you’d have quality audio - so that could be a future purchase. Hope that helps you 😊👍
All good points but 1 thing and it's. BIG thing. The focus. The continuous focus constantly searching for what to focus on, make a lot of footage unusable. Basically, the focus sucks and needs a serious upgrade in the next update. Otherwise, apart from the digital zoom also, it's great.
Agree with you on the focus 👍 It did improve slightly in the last update, but still lots to improve on for sure. If they sort it as you say...for $500 there can't be many complaints!
Great video - and congratulations on not using the word “cinematic“ once! As a tv director myself, I’m always looking out for new equipment to bring into my projects. I needed a lightweight camera for a top shot in a BBC CYMRU. drama last month and had no hesitation in using the Osmo Pocket 3. I can see me using it again for moving car interiors etc in the future…
Haha the phrase is one of the biggest misconceptions these days. Totally not a fan of it! I was speaking to someone from ITV today on a shoot and I said this should be given to regions too instead of mobile kits 👍 wide range of use cases as you say!
Hi, thank you for watching. I have to be honest, I don't shoot in HLG on this camera. As my preferred colour profile is D-logM as it offers the image I prefer.
Your footage looks great, but this camera is not something that will replace my mirrorless, for example. I am leaning more towards an insta360 or an AI gimbal for my iphone if I want to get that special content
Hi, yes this camera won't replace my mirrorless cameras either - especially for work. Although, lots will find it so useful. The possibilities are exciting with the P3 👍
I bought the insta 360, the returned it to buy this. The insta 360 is horrible in low light. In fact, because all action cams use electronic stabilization, they require high shutter speeds (aka, terrible low light). The pocket 3 is also the only “action cam” with a 1” sensor, something no smart phone can compete with.
The only missing feature is the zoom, if it could zoom at least like mobile phones then perfect 100%. Currently it can only do a tiny zoom mean this is purely for video blogging only, it can't replace mobile phone.
@@PaulGarrity hopefully P4 delivers the zoom feature, given that the lens house is reasonably big, I think they should be able to fit in the zoom mechanism. Thanks.
😂 the interchangeable lens of camera is not replaceable by any cameras. Phone camera is just toy, if I was pay handsomely, to brainwash others that iPhone can make Hollywood movies, I will say that too😂

The Pocket 3 is an awesome secondary light camera when recording bts video is necessary.
Absolutely. Great for BTS on shoots 👍

Hey your intro was amazing wondering where you got the music at the start from please 🙏🏾
Hi, thank you very much! I use Epidemic Sound and the track name is "Let's Rock by Cushy". Thank you for watching! 🙌
Great video man..hoping to see more Osmo Pocket 3 content from you.
Thank you 🙌 Hopefully will have some more on the way 👍👍
6. Use manual WB 😉
You can you auto to quick select and then fix it to manual. It's easy to use in that camera.
Absolutely! I agree with you. I drew the line at 5 as the duration was running away from me 😂 I guarantee, we could all have a top 20!! 👍
Knew you’d like it... I’m often mistaken but never wrong! 😅😜

I'm agree too. It's very complaining, when you shot you can't see on the small screen and when you export, you have just your eyes to cry 😢
Just lock the focus using the menu. Was that really so hard to figure out?
@@DerrickW30 not possible. It's either single focus or continuous focus. Is it really that difficult not to understand?

Hope DJI can come out a pocket 3 with 50mm, a pocket 3 with 100mm. I don’t mind buy 3 pockets and set up at different angles at only $1500. 😅😅😅
Sounds like you'll need bigger pockets to fit all that tech in! 😉👍
Not sure but i believe this technology exists in some of the smartphones. If they can manage to do this, it will be awesome.

The 360 is not great for lowlight. Just a heads up. I have everything you mentioned.
It’s a great gimbal replacement for social content. And it’s a fun travel camera since it requires zero effort
it's an action / vlogging cam. gotta will it replace a mirror less? it's an additional camera in your toolkit.
