      @@ItsButterBean1020 What's his idea?

    • @ItsButterBean1020
      @ItsButterBean1020 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mr. GoodKat his pitch is that they play up the urban legend aspect of Freddy
      They know the basics, burnt up child killer, fedora, clawed glove but the particulars are vague.
      So Robert’s idea is different actors would play their own Freddy’s with their own quirks (so one might have different decay or burns, one could be more demonic, one could seem almost kind before he attacks) that represent another aspect of the greater Freddy Krueger
      So it’d be a bit like the different forms Pennywise takes in his films, perhaps even serving the same purpose of reflecting fears and experiences of the victims
      I think it could be a fun idea to highlight some fun designs and solid actors while also giving something different and allowing Englund’s take to have a new appreciation

    • @Mr.Goodkat
      @Mr.Goodkat 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ItsButterBean1020 It seems like it would be confusing because in the NOES films Freddy is a real person not a figment of your imagination so he'll show up in your dreams customised to your fears, I don't understand how them all having a different idea of what Freddy is like would make him look different when he shows up in there dreams because the actual guy who was burnt up only looked one way and it's supposed to actually be him in the dreams so shouldn't he look the same in all of them? Do you see what I am trying too say?

  • @Powerduo88
    @Powerduo88 5 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    He is cracking me up talking with the glove on like it's his real hand. So unfazed. Also, I like how he has always taken a tiny bit of the fear factor out of Freddy by doing these interviews, being in mags back in the day showing him get into character, etc. The other two horror champs (MM & Jason) were played by too many ppl and you didn't get to get these kinds of interviews unless it was at a Comic Con.

    • @CarloisBuriedAlive
      @CarloisBuriedAlive 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Joseph Licon nostalgia creates cash, fans could get a kick out of it, and some horror legends could make a well deserved payday that would probably be much more than they ever made during the original franchise. It could also help launch a new director using an existing series. John Carpenter didn’t write or direct this new Halloween film, and I love Wes Craven, but he also wasn’t responsible for some of the Nightmare sequels which are also loved by some fans, particularly Part 3. Englund is the true spirit behind the franchise. Idk, this is the way the world works, why not make some fun movies in the meantime if there’s a solid script? And this isn’t limited to the US anymore, which is why most of our blockbusters cater just as much to a foreign market, so it would be “what a business” more than “what a country” lol

He did have an executive producer credit for the 3rd movie. But movies 2 through 6 and Freddy vs. Jason all had different directors and writers.
      No disrespect to Wes though. The movies he did highly participate in are at the top of the entire franchise. Just trying to make the point that it's possible. Would love to see a rematch of Freddy vs. Jason after that cliffhanger ending.

    Great interview! Robert is awesome and a horror legend. Hope he and the studio can agree to make a final sequel with him back, and a darker tone like the first two movies. Wes made New Nightmare as a way to bring back the darker Freddy, but it was a meta movie, which was great but not really a true sequel. Would be nice to see Robert in a darker movie to honor what Wes Craven did, while actually being in the same timeline as the first three movies, not including the cheesy 4-6. That doesn't mean I want them to bring back Kincaid, Joey and Kristen (I don't), I just don't want anything after part three referenced, and I certainly don't want the tone of those later sequels.
    Definitely incorporate Robert's idea about victims seeing their own versions of what they imagine Freddy to be, but maybe it's caused by a drug that the government has poisoned the kids with in Springwood, by means of population control or even accidental. However, the main character is the only one able to bring Freddy back, due to he/she having encountered Freddy back in the 80's, but the character is on a new form of Hypnocil (Renamed) which has kept Freddy dormant all this time. The twist could be that the only way to kill Freddy is for the main character to die (Freddy lives in this character's subconscious), which puts Freddy in a catch 22, but not before Freddy is brought back into form and takes out half of the new cast of characters, including the doctors who created this new hallucination drug.
    Side note, but if they wanted to please the hard core fans and new fans, they could do something unexpected and bring back Mark Patton as a small character, maybe the father of the lead character. Have Jesse be the character who Freddy still has access to, and have him be hooked on his sleep drug, with his son/daughter being the main character. Seeing Lawrence Fishburne in a small role as a doctor (Returning character Max) would also be clever, with him perhaps being involved in this new drug which is killing off teens, and we can get a line from him referencing the events of Dream Warriors, while never truly believing in Freddy.
    I understand why some fans want a direct sequel to the original, because it would bring back Tina and Nancy and Donald Thompson, but from my view it would be hard to accomplish in a good story without pissing off the fans. Dream Warriors is sacred for many, so I don't think they'll be wise to pretend as if that one never happened, even if it means having Nancy and her family remaining dead.
    As long as they make Freddy dark like in one and two, saying less dialogue and being kept in the low key lighting/shadows, and if they add a little twist to the dreams/drugs, I think we could end up with a terrific send off, a proper send off! 15 million budget, 10-15 spent on marketing, and I have no doubt the movie would pull in at least 40 million opening weekend in the U.S. alone (Would probably make even more IMO), which while not as high as Halloween 2018, would still be very high. A proper dark and spooky sequel with Robert would likely make at least 75 million in the U.S. alone. The difficult angle will be trying to convince the studio to make a dark scary movie like the first two, as everyone seems so keen on having the dumb goofy version of Freddy. Hopefully shot on film, and not all clean and new age looking. Either way, it's a fun time to be a horror/thriller fan :)

    • @Dude-oh8vq
      @Dude-oh8vq 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      True, but I actually think it would hurt the box office this time if Freddy was done in another jokey way again. Seeing a dark and shadowed Freddy in the trailers would make the fans very happy, as well as new fans, knowing that the studio is finally taking the character seriously again and not making him a laughing stock.

    • @Shadowman820
      @Shadowman820 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Robert might be right though , he is getting a bit too old for the part because he's starting to look old even under all that make up . If they do at one point make another reboot they need another classically or very gifted actor in the part of Freddy and then get better writers than we had in that remake .

    • @Dude-oh8vq
      @Dude-oh8vq 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think it's due to the somewhat average makeup job for this episode, and the fact that we all know Robert's true age. With a better makeup job for a new movie, and him kept in the shadows and in dark lighting, he'd look terrific! Plus, for a movie his voice would be altered like it usually is, and Robert would probably drop ten pounds or so to get in better shape. I also think the screenplay for a new movie should avoid having Freddy doing all sorts of crazy stunts this time, and should have him do more stalk and slashing and any other stunts like falling or hanging upside should be done with a stunt double.

    • @Shadowman820
      @Shadowman820 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes obviously they're not going to spend the money and time on the make up as they would in a movie . Also yeah if he was doing a movie he would have to get into a little better shape . But even so there will come a point where he simply can't do Freddy anymore as Freddy is way more active than let's say the Tallman which Angus Scrimm was still able to play in his 80s .
