I also appreciated that Heather Langenkamp actually looked like the age she was playing in the movie, which is far from universally the case among 80s teen horror films.
That line where Nancy looks in the mirror and says, "Oh, God. I look twenty years old!" always makes me laugh, because Heather was twenty years old during filming.
Iconic is an understatement the fact that A Nightmare On Elm Street was done in 1984 all those years ago and still to this day it's still popular and still talked about and still reference just shows how great the film is . Freddy is never going to be really dead
I felt there was a time in the 90's when there was very little about Freddy, and that was probably when I was most obsessed. Like the latter half of the 90's when I was a preteen. Was watching them since as far back as I can remember, but I got deep into web rings about the franchise and spent hours reading and looking at stuff about it. It felt very niche. Everyone was all about Scream at this point and all its imitators. None of my peers I knew of were into Freddy. Some didn't know anything about it all.
It's like Halloween, child's play or Friday the 13th. While the new films would not be getting more sequels/fell off massively in quality,Micheal,Freddy,Chucky,Jason and all them will forever be remembered and beloved fondly by so many fans
Seeing these two back even just to read comments and reviews made me smile. I was not born when these movies were in their prime, but Robert's Freddy was still a massive icon in my childhood regardless
He is. I’ve met him a couple of times. He even ran out of his booth to tap my shoulder and talk to me about my SH nurse cosplay he has remembered seeing at that con 4 years prior. He’s so sweet and lovely to talk to!
I love that Heather embraces her role and place in the horror pantheon of final girls. Truly the best and I pray we get one more with her and older Freddy. That shit come be terrifying if done right. New Nightmare gave me those vibes actually.
I saw the movie in the cinema in 1984 and I had a newspaper in my hand that day. By the end of the film, the paper was all shredded from the wriggling and sweat from all the terror. Unforgettable!!
We snuck in as kids to see it. It was a intense experience. I had yet to see the Exorcist at the time so it was the scariest movie i had ever seen as a 12 year old.
Robert Englund and Heather Langenkamp are both brilliant. And so much fun together. They should bring them back to read reviews for Part 3: Dream Warriors. Also, Wes Craven's New Nightmare too.
04:30 Really good point about Freddy enjoying his work. I just watched Terrifier 2 last night, and Freddy's influence on Art the Clown is palpable - they're both clearly having so much fun that you can't help taking their side a little bit (if you're a sick fuck like me, anyway).
Even if Art killed my whole family in the most horrific way possible I’d still be like “awwww you little rascal! I can’t stay mad at you ya goofball 🤪”
I still have a crush on Heather since Just the Ten of Us. Why are horror icons so wholesome in real life? From Robert to David Thornton to Kane Hodder, you guys are the best.
So much love for these two. Heather is aging like fine wine, looking as beautiful as ever and Englund is a very funny guy with an amazing voice, he should do more voice acting. 😂 Sending you guys lots of love from Brazil. Nightmare on Elm Street is forever etched in my soul. ❤
Fun fact. When I was 6 I caught a glimpse of the worst nightmare on Elm Street (part 6) and it scared the crap out of me. 24 years later and Heather and Robert have inspired me a ton. Heather (who is a vfx artist now) inspired me to get into sculpting when I found out at 15. And Robert Englund inspired me to try to be wholesome irl but edgy in entertainment.
I met Robert, met him in 2017, and he was very kind. I told him that my best friend was jealous that I was meeting him, and she loved him in V. He was tickled to hear that, and I told him that even though I know he's a good guy, if he were to jump out as Freddy, he could still scare the hell out of me. He enjoyed that too.
I love how she's letting the grey grow in. So beautiful to see a woman with grey hair and not looking like a plastic duck with life-preservers for lips. She's so attractive.
i hope nathaxnne gets to see the smooth, distinguished voice of robert englund read her comment to heather langenkamp, she might be my fav person i follow and she deserves it
Very cool to see them together and having a lot of fun. I still have my VHS tape of the film. God knows how many times I watched it back in the day. lol! Look forward to getting the 4K UHD soon.
I adore Heather. I want to see her in more movies. Also, based on Wes's original concept, Robert is actually the perfect age now to play Freddy. Let's do another movie with these two!!!
They mention those of us who first watched ANOES on VHS. I begged my parents for it for Christmas and they obliged. I watched that VHS tape so many times until it literally wore out. My friends thought I was a total freak because I memorized every line it it and repeated them while they were trying to watch. My nephew came to visit me last year. We went out to smoke and I said "It's bright!" and he looked at me and said "It's gonna burn off soon, or it wouldn't be so bright!" I instantly said, "Feeling better?" so now that we are both long haired old men, there was still that eerie moment between Nancy and Marge playing in our minds. I will always love Heather and Marge was the best drunk mother lmao. Still my favorite movie ever! Love to you all!
Watching these movies as a very, very small kid makes the sight of Robert Englund havying me, but his personality is so funny and personable. What a great video!
Its so nice to see these two together. Such a pleasure to watch.Love it how heather kills herself laughing when robert starts yelling about freddys arms! 😅😅😅 Love them both! ❤
Apparently when my dad went to see this movie when it came out, there was a couple in front of him a couple seats, the guy was acting cool and wrapping his arm around his girl. I cant remember which one he told me, but one of the scenes caused the guy to literally jump straight up out of his seat and scream at the top of his lungs and his voice cracked, then immediately sat back down and wrapped his arm around her again acting cool like nothing happened, and his girlfriend just slowly turned to him looking at him like "wtf?" At the same time there was another guy in the theatre that just threw his hands up and just said "I can't take this anymore." And he just straight up left. And as ive just watched it recently, most of the scenes still impress me, much more than the cgi crap I've seen. This is definitely a timeless horror movie.
On the rare occasion that I start mentally delving too much in to movies and stories that might make me, on another plane of existence, have some kind of breakdown, I always focus back to watching the DVD special features, the "Making-Of's", the bloopers / gag reels, and everything is right as rain. Heather -- one of my first crushes as an adolescent (born in 1979). Robert --- other than the Kruger movies, I loved how they portrayed you in the "Bones" episode when Brennan and Booth went to her high school reunion. Thanks for all of the memories. One more thing...I was part of the original generation to watch the fifth movie in the theater with the old-timey 3D plastic glasses. Loved it. Cheers.
I still love Heather and Robert so much! I grew up on the films and will cherish them for the rest of my life. It’s so great to see them still out there talking about that iconic first NOES movie. ♥️
I really wish I could've seen this at the theater when it came out. I did see part 2, 4,5, 6, New Nightmare, and Freddy vs Jason at the theater, but somehow missed out on the original and Dream Warriors, the best in the series. I met both Robert and Heather earlier this year, and most of the Dream Warriors main cast...all super nice. Ken Sagoes (Kincaid) especially. He actually came down the line, said hello to everyone individually and shook our hands. I was very impressed.
Awesome! Congratulations to all the Cast and Crew of the original A Nightmare on Elm Street on the 40th Anniversary 🎉 I was young when it came out and saw it on HBO. It was the greatest scary movie for me for years. Freddy Krueger and Nancy will always be remembered fondly by the fans.

1:12 Robert putting his hand around Heather as he reads to her from someone's review painting her with words really warms my heart.
Gives me strong "dad proud of his daughter's exam result" vibes
And he still can't resist spreading out his fingers, even though he's not wearing the glove. Must be a reflex action!
He’s so wholesome and such a good actor I totally want a show with the two of them talking about horror moments ❤
@@stewmott3763Oh God! He so perfectly and creepily embodies Freddy (even with seemingly-innocuous mannerisms) that I can barely watch! LOL
