You can sit there and say Pippin or Grant were too young but then I can say Laimbeer and Mahorn got old, and Isiah was coming off a major injury when they finally lost😂. Let’s put all the excuses aside, they were getting their ass kicked which is why Jordan hates Isiah to this day. They put the Jordan rules on his ass and it took him 4 years to figure them out. Seeing a game like this I can understand why the Pistons started clobbering Jordan. Here the Pistons are, trying to be King of the Mountain, and this rookie comes along, already clearly better than all of them, and starts to embarrass their entire team while they are trying to hold on to pride and dominance. The Pistons were fighting to stay relevant and win their championships and make their legacy. It just so happens they turned into the Bad Boys and started hurting everyone.

This was a "revenge" statement game for Michael Jordan because of the infamous "freeze out" all star game in 1985 because guys like Isiah Thomas, who is the star player of the Detroit Pistons and a Chicago native was jealous of Michael Jordan because he was getting all the attention than any other player and Jordan was more popular than Larry Bird and Magic Johnson and even Isiah Thomas because Isiah was a popular figure for Chicago basketball and here comes a more popular, but more exciting, skillful, and amazing to watch, but also Michael Jordan was a "bigger than life" character to the whole sports world and the other players didn't like that because they thought Michael Jordan was better than everyone around him, even in the Slam Dunk contest, Jordan was wearing a gold chain around his neck, a pair of the "Banned " Air Jordan 1s shoes, which were red and black, and a black and red Nike outfit with the shoes as well and that created jealousy of the other all star players, Including Isiah Thomas. So the next day in the All Star game, which was Michael Jordan's first All Star game as a Rookie, Isiah Thomas and few of his teammates decided not to give Michael Jordan the ball throughout the entire game, which conspired the infamous "Freeze Out" game, and Jordan scored just 7 points in 22 minutes of action and the Eastern Conference team lost to the Western Conference team, which Houston Rockets Ralph Sampson was All Star game MVP with 24 points and 13 rebounds and the Eastern Conference team was led by Isiah Thomas who had a 22 points and Larry Bird had 21 points. That pissed off Michael Jordan because of that situation because few days later, the Chicago Bulls faced the Detroit Pistons and Isiah Thomas and Michael Jordan basically destroyed the Pistons all by himself with 49 points(Chicago Bulls Rookie scoring record) and 15 rebounds, along with 5 assists, 4 steals and a couple of block shots and had help from his teammates like Orlando Woodridge(R.I.P) who had 31 points and the Bulls won the game in overtime and Isiah Thomas had only 19 points, but struggled due to a bad thigh injury and fouled out of the game. From that point of on, the rivalry between the Chicago Bulls and the Detroit Pistons had begun and for the two all Star captains of Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls and Isiah Thomas of the Detroit Pistons aka the Bad Boys for years to come.

He dropped 49 before the 3 point era. 👀
This is when they were playing bully ball too. That physical as hell D.
Anyway, people talk about having more ReBoUnDs and AsSiSts, he could do it but he relegated a lot of that to his teammates as a he was a pure SG who could play other rolls.
The assists thing is an easy answer: Triangle offense, that’s why he didn’t average more.
Rebound? He played amongst titans. Guys who were all timers in those categories but also the position he took on the field and playing off the lane and guarding behind free throw shooters and guarding the backcourt. This is also why his steals numbers are crazy high being 3rd all time in NBA.
People don’t understand the nuance of the game and simply look at stats and make wild conclusions.

See this is an example of why Last Dance could have been more comprehensive. They could have put the audio of the announcers at the beginning, and they could have also put the audio of Marv Albert in their first confrontation after Bulls swept them. They played in Chicago Stadium and ISiah and Jordan had a long talk in center court just before the game started. They could have tried to ask them what they were talking about.

He also took a bit off after his second year injury. Meaning instead of going 100% maybe 90%. Another example of the ahtleticism he had is this video of him breaking the backboard from around the same time th-cam.com/video/te-8MJ84834/w-d-xo.html. Also in the last dance they show him block a guys shot from behind and hurt himself because he hit his head on the backboard. I think he realized controlled 90% effort was enough and he would have much more longevity.
