well you have to understand that cs players just don't have the critical thinking skills to handle a concept like sportswashing or genocide. they're still trying to fit the square block in the round hole, in more ways than one

    • @LDixonFPS
      @LDixonFPS 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

well you have to understand that most cs players are still in their youth and are uninterested in the global politics. They are first and foremost fans of the game and of its "celebrities" such as Stewie2k. Shitting on an entire player base and calling them mentally inferior due to their lack of interest in worldly topics makes you a cringe onliner.
Realise that RL is a reporter in the GAMING space and that if you want to interect with those who care about the Saudi take over you should maybe leave the desk every once and a while. Contrary to popular belief, watching RL does not make you an enlightened person and you do NOT acquire his hardships and opinions by doing so.

Saudi ain’t gonna take over anything, just like in football they are obsessed with old washed up players with filled trophy cabinets. Kicked a young up and coming prodigy like boros and just bought old players because they don’t wanna spend time and effort into bringing up a monesy or Donk. You have all the money in the world and then you buy a player like snappi.. which is basically a hooxi2.0.

I think we need to hit the brakes and remind ourselves the expectations that Stewie had coming in to the event.
He hadn't played in the arena in 4 years, and he hadn't really played at the pro level in like 2 years.
The expectation was that every other player at the event, who did not have one or either of these disadvantages would perform better than Stewie because they were more knowledgeable of the current meta and better individually, having practiced and playing officials consistently in 2024. And even if Stewie was coming into this event off the back of his 2019 form, he was never better than Niko, than m0nesy, than ZywOo, or any of these other players. He even managed to somehow outperform ZywOo on the most important map of the tournament, the decider of the grand final.
I don't think anybody is saying this is one of the greatest individual performances in an event in Counter Strike history, but G2 winning the event and Stewie having more impact than HooXi are better outcomes than we expected, given the circumstances under which he was attending IEM Dallas

Someone responded to me saying Hooxi had been outfragging Nexa and HUNTER for MONTHS. Like bro at no point has he done so, maybe a couple of series he will but he's not even close to their fragging level. The worst part was it got like 20 upvotes so 20 idiots who can look at Nexa and Hunter having positive kd while Hooxi goes very negative and believe less kills = outfragging. I even made a joke about how Hooxis frags are bad but he has a good space / death and info / death ratio so he's a great player and no one seemed to get that it was making fun of them.

I think calling any stranger something like incel just because they're supportive and enthusiastic about Stewie2k possibly returning to high level CS again is extremely negative and inexcusable. Very uncalled for, and there is nothing reasonable about it. Love you Rich! Really enjoy your content and appreciate the insights you bring to the table. This criticism feels a bit harsh. Many American fans might not have had a lot to cheer for in CS the last couple of years, so they get very excited about even modest successes. This enthusiasm can sometimes come across as overhyping, but it's just part of being passionate about their favourite players. It reminds me of how American soccer fans were so hyped about Pulisic, as a Chelsea fan it drove me nuts, so I get it, but NA's gonna NA. I think people get angry when you say that hooxi is better than stewie because that should be a given. Stewie has not played in 2 years while hooxi has which is why people are mad... you are still correct its just that hooxi being 0.02 better is just terrible for a tier 1 player. And looking at stews comms and hooxi acting more as a coach was good for G2.

When you are on a team it is not a zero-sum argument. Stewie brought something to the team they needed - an outside eye to point out some weaknesses. You can't say just how many kills you get is the answer or Blame F would be the highest in demand. He brought a positive attitude and a willingness to just go forward soon as Niko said to. Hooxi is known to be a guy who carries a negative attitude, and it shows. Look at how G2 did today and you see the issue. 3 players working hard and 2 sub-par.

ngl but the intangibles stew brings to a team is severely underrated. cs is mostly about stats yes but it isnt entirely about stats. we got a couple snippets that ESL/IEM let us in on the team comms, the stuff he says to the team is very motivating. keeping the team composed.
the vibe the atmosphere, the intensity during moments. the uplifting words he says. the encouragement. the no tilt. the directness of pointing out an immediate problem and then instantly providing a solution
    this guy is a vet
stew also brought calmness and composure at needed times.
on the outside its obvious they still would lose if monesy, niko didnt put up their huge carry performances. the difference here in this instance was that monesy and niko did carry with hooxi on the team and they still failed to win anything in cs2 multiple times. but this time with stew, it worked. definitely something is different. that came down to stew knowing how to ensure a high chance of himself being traded.
    imho.

So I replied to Thorin after the Dallas win that I thought Stewie did have a good tournament but in hindsight I did a terrible job of explaining myself. To me, Stewie coming in and not being significantly worse than Hooxi and having a handful of good rounds was enough to be a "good" performance given the context of being a last minute stand-in and his sabbatical from T1 CS. In retrospect its overly charitable and I would never deny anyone saying he was an awful player here.

Stewie was very rusty and got carried. But that doesn't matter because it was a great cap to end his career, couldn't ask for a better story for one of NAs few legends. And despite being carried for the bulk of the tournament, when his back was completely against the wall, and it was all crashing down, and entirely on him, he did step up. Stewie doesn't get that 3k on ancient and G2 are out in the group stage, guaranteed. Tuning in to his stream I can tell he he's washed and has no interest in reforming himself into a serious pro for today's cs. thats fine. he had a great career. his ego and personality is not good but beggars can't be choosers. GG WP stew.

I was rooting for Stewie to do well because he's currently an underdog. Objectively did quite poor as an individual but I'm happy he got something out of it. Frankly since he went down that route of being an in game leader I believe it ruined what he was as a player. Yekindar somewhat went down a similar path and has been a shadow of himself ever since.

This is just American fans in general tbh. It doesn't matter what a player is currently doing, it's what they did in the past.
It's the same reason why Americans believe shroud is one of the GOATS based on a couple handfuls of Reddit clips when he pugged back in the day.
They ignore their statistics, they just live in the past. Doesn't matter if they play like shit. Look at other sports as well, we Americans are mouth breathers and do this no matter what the competition/sport is.
All this shit reminds me of the daily LeBron James glazing by sports journalists. Just reaching for ANYTHING to make him seem like he's better than he actually is. First American on stage since 2019, LMFAO. The desperation to prop up Stewie is pathetic.

1:31:10 Yeah, no, Richard, you're wrong, it's the same role but different styles of play, one might fit the team better than the other, similar to positions in other sports like basketball (Jokic and Shaq have the same role but not really doing exactly the same things) -- I think you don't know much about what it takes to win and do not play counter strike that much either.

@@RLewisReportsif you can’t understand the fact that only pros will ever truly understand the game then you’re lost. Since you can’t articulate it for yourself let me: stewie has more aggressive positioning in general compared to hooxi. That means even MORE space for m0nesy and Niko to show why they are elite. Stewie plays a much more riskier but rewarding style of cs. Think about it in terms of football. You have a deep lying playmaker at the 6 or an anchor. Two players in the same position with two noticeably different play styles. It’s common sense and logic
