    Lets not forget BSG editing their website live as twitch streamers like Lvndmark were calling them out on their bs, like removing the "unique" from the "unique secure container" aka Gamma container from EoD editions so they could give it to the $250 Unheard edition... [Also] Getting special P2W features like being able to call in ppl from your friends list or calling in a friendly BTR is just the cherry on top of it all.

    The biggest scam was when games went digital at the same price they were charging for a packaged and distributed game.

      That is a stupid input. Yes, you no longer buy the disc box and all that stuff.... but inflation is a real thing. The average cost of a NES game in 1990 was $50. Taking in inflation, today that would cost around $120. We are paying LESS than we should be per game in the current day and time and companies are still able to do it.

    • @dico3557
      @dico3557 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Additionally, that means WITH INFLATION we are paying the LEAST AMOUNT for a game THAN EVER.

      @@dico3557 The inflation argument doesnt work here, triple-A games have always been around $50-60, regardless of economic standing. and at that - a good chunk of that cost of the NES cartridge went to manufacturing and distribution, which modern games dont have to deal nearly as much with, since most people buy games digitally. Companies are "still able to do it" because they are overcharging for small microtransactions or premium time that takes next to no time or effort to create.

    • @dico3557
      @dico3557 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@snavsmatiq Ok taking your logic, when the entertainment world changed from cartridge to disk - the price was still 50$ on average for a PS1 game in 1996. That means due to inflation we were paying an average of $100 for a game. Disks are REDICULIOUSLY cheap to manufacturer, as well as the paper insert and plastic case. We are still paying the least amount of money ever to buy a brand new game.

    i wouldnt care about getting cheaters in matches if the cheaters actually got banned in game... ill never understand how someone can just move at 500 mph or be invincible and the anticheat just cant notice that? i feel like an anticheat from 1999 would be able to notice someone doing that

      I played on Minecraft faction servers when I was 12 , if you flew, aim botted, clicked above and certain speed or trigger botted it would be detected and you would be banned on the spot. Cheats became more subtle and sophisticated to get around this but tarkov hasn’t even gotten to that point as they don’t insta ban basic cheats.

    • @ptkernaghan
      @ptkernaghan 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They know those people are cheating, but they wait to do mass bannings because cheaters create new cheats faster than devs can update the anticheat. SO they wait and instead of catching 10,000 cheaters before the hackers create a new exploit, they catch 100,000. Its a shitty user experience but it does allow them to catch more people.

    Just an FYI BSG also does not ban cheaters hardware or ip when caught. You can buy the game as many times as you want regardless of cheating. You only need a mew email. Nikita also is on the record talking about how cheaters fund video game production so it's great for him but bad for the player. So he sells stuff to players to combat the cheaters(see the beacon that calls in your friends list to help anytime during a pvp raid. He's always been a pos. We few have been saying this for ages. We were ridiculed and attacked by fanboys. Glad they got to see their daddy for who he is now!

      No, seriously. Take a look at War Thunder, for example, with all the recent trouble there. It's like the same exact people are running both studios and community management (not to mention these games do have similar audiences). "Russian game dev" has become a local "CIS" meme a LONG time ago, now the West is waking up to the reality of it: first it was a boycott of WT with all the review bombing on Steam, now it's a push back against EFT devs politics. All happening within a year. To those saying "all devs are in the same vain" - well, Russian devs have learned outrageous marketing techniques & pricing from the West, but not how to actually make a properly functioning games.

    Nikita co-owns BSG with Dmitri. There are no shareholders etc. Nikita allegedly lives in Dubai nowadays too. I felt that this was clearly Nikita wanting more money for his new lifestyle in the rich boy's country of choice.
    Also they tried something similar with the release of Arena in December. There was a staggered release, which took a week or more, or you could get instant access if you bought Arena, even if you had EOD without access yet. That too was a FOMO money grab.

    What's batshit insane is you usually deploy PvE to ATTRACT the casuals, not milk all of the good will from your PvP-centric playerbase. There is nothing about this entire situation that isn't utterly mad. Charging $100 for a feature in a game that hasn't been released yet is the entire model for Star Citizen, so I suppose the CEO here may have thought he was being rather conservative.

    For Honor kinda had a PvE mode behind a paywall. It is an Arcade mode with a procedural quest system where you fight boss-type AI bots with modifiers etc, but you can still play any of the base game modes against AI without it so it's not like *all* PvE is locked.
    The worst was that it was part - and couldn't be bought separatly - of an expansion which gave 4 new heroes, but if you unlocked those for free with the in-game currency, there was no possible discount, so it was a mandatory $30 for it.

    It's really easy to do the calculations on this, even if you don't look at their profit margines. Red dead redemption 2 was the most expensive game ever made at the time. It cost $250,000,000 to make. It sold 64 million copies. At the time, games were still $60. That is $3,840,000,000. And that's only if everyone bought the basic version. I guarantee you a lot of people didn't. I would not be surprised if that game cracked $4 billion. And rockstar shuttered the online because "they weren't making enough money". The greed on display in the gaming industry is insane. There are drug lords that wish they had those prifit margins.

It feels like a lot of legit players who actually bought the game are not playing as much and the only people playing are hackers now who bought the game with a stolen credit card or the lobbies are just dead. Its good to see you shine light on this for the outside world to see. We would be grateful if you investigated further, because tarkov and BSG have been an absolute Trainwreck for the past couple of years, showing that they never expected the success they had from twitch drops, and never were able to cope their selfmade downfall. Tarkov is the best example for an rather unexperienced Indie-dev building a small but loyal community, then finding infinite money glitches and getting fucked by scopecreep, incompetence & lack of experience. We hate Triple-A for many reasons, but i guarantee you we would have a washed down but solid liveservice by now. Took 10 years for something like Arena:Breakout to come along apparently, and its only a matter of time until a big developer will try their hands on something like Tarkov which will be the final nail in the coffin.
    Twitch Drops drew in a crowd that was never supposed to touch the game. Now the community was split into e-sports andys and fans of the original vision. The Problem was that BSG took too fucking long to implement major features of their original vision, which would have turned off the e-sports andys in the first place.
    Because they had tec issues pretty much from the beginning, mainly unity just not being suited for this game.
    It was never supposed to be a fast paced, pvp focussed arena-shooter, that has twitch tournaments. So they were stuck in a limbo between two very different crowds, combined with a very stubborn lead-dev who took too long to realize what changes are good and which are bad, and where his original vision wouldnt work out. And now the time is starting to run out, and they are supposed to start working on their next game already, which will be a single player focussed game, and would build on the stuff they made and learned from EFT.
    - BSG dont care about the cheating, because it secures further funding of the project.
    "Lack of funding" is apparently a big problem nowadays, but they steer around talking about how it happened.
    - They fucked up with putting a lot of funding into "EFT Arena" (a PVP-spinoff game, which was literally supposed to be part of the maingame map, now its a seperate, purchasable game.
    A blatant copy of their first developed game of course). It flopped HARD.
    - They already have microtransactions, to "further secure funding". which also wasnt the original plan.
    - They passive agressively support a real russian pmc group with mentionings in the game and graffitis.
    - They ban lesser known community creators if they dont like what they say.
    - As you say, the game always has been kind of pay to win, but we let it slide because it was supposed to be additional funding to support the project. They always sold the EoD-Edition as "you will get everything". Everything was earnable through playing. But this whole 250$-Edition "sorry u feel this way :(" was proper spit in the face.
    Tarkov now is just a burned out project from a man that clearly has other priorities nowadays, like spending his money in dubai.

    Ultimately it's their game. If you pay for it, you're telling them you're ok with this. the money decides what happens. You decide where to put your money. Once you'll pay it, they'll charge for it.

    BSG also did this with tarkov arena. BSG originally said that it wasn’t dlc but a new game and that EOD players wouldn’t get it for free. We had to fight them on Twitter and eventually they came around and gave it to us even though it shouldn’t have been a fight to begin with

    I feel like your first comment is wrong. The game didnt get really popular until 2019 ish and if u played before then or asked people who have played before then the cheaters were not even half as much as a problem it is now. There was always sweats in the game if u played enough Labs and Reserve (back when reserve had good loot) who would jump from roof to roof like they are playing leapfrog or jump out of windows and land on 1 inch fences only to jump through another window and shoot a guy in the back inside the other room.
    Cheats just came to this game once it became popular like with every game out there... but unlike other games out there BSG cant implement modern anti-cheat methods due to performance issues it causes so all the cheaters that came with the hype ended up staying for months before getting their first ban, and at that point they were addicted to cheating on tarkov so they just stayed here ever since.

    bsg have never been good with anything regarding community or user experience, both inside the game and out, but an extra layer on the bullshittery cake they've pulled is not too long before this Nikita Buyanov did an interview with one of the biggest EFT content creators Pestily, where they discussed alot of the communities frustrations and (although Nikita looked like he'd rather be falling off a building that in that interview at times) it did seem like he was taking (at least some of) it on board, which was reflected with some changes to the game in the following weeks, like its mental how they went from one extreme to the other -- they literally removed the 'Access to all subsequent DLCs' line from the EOD edition as the streamer LVNDMARK was on the site, he had to get on the fucking wayback machine just to see that again...
    I think they've honestly been lucky that a good alternative hasn't been available on the market, but that's starting to change with games like GrayZone and Arena Breakout** that will start to apply pressure onto BSG in that they cannot continue to pull these same stupid stunts and expect people to take it on the chin.
    It is a shame because the game genuinely was one of a kind, and despite it's issues you could not (honestly still cannot) get that experience from any other games in its genre, but it's got a bunch of fucking chimps at the wheel who seem hellbent on making the worst possible decision at each turn.
    Idk if its where I'm getting older but games used to be fun, idk what happened in the last couple years but the influx of cheaters in (what feels like) every fucking game punishing you for no reason, the predatory game studios trying to get at your wallet at every opportunity, and the fact people take them more seriously than their actual fucking life really do make me think maybe they're just not worth your time anymore.
    **which tbh is an absolute disgrace in terms of how outrageously blatant the plagiarism of escape from tarkov, copying the exact keystrokes for all actions, and even the in-game lootable items (but its a tencent game so what do you expect?)

    I've had fun with the game over the last several years and BSG kept saying the right things, so when the upgrade went on discount I upgraded because I wanted to support them - and in return i'd get future DLC, right? Nope! They won't even give me the new clothing for free, it's up to $12 per set. Sad thing is until there's a decent alternative a lot of people will keep coming back for more abuse, but not me. I won't uninstall yet but I'll be playing other games until, or if, they ever get their shit together.

    A good investigative journalist needs to look into the massive conflict of interest in this game when it comes to the obvious fact that when bsg bans a cheater, its 40 dollars in their pocket when that cheater buys a new account. Not to mention that when they do a big ban wave, they coincidentally sell the game on sale in “family” bundles. WHO is that really for? Does anyone actually buy 5 copies of a game at once? I know who would though… cheaters who are making money rwt’ing. Its in bag’s best interest to keep cheaters prevalent

    Another banger is how it takes 10+ minutes to connect to PvE matches, and cheaters are somehow joining PvE servers and killing people and taking all of their shit. Been a problem since day 1 of the PvE release and counting.

      There might be a worse experience at lower elo right now because all the high elo cheaters got banned recently, so the cheaters are ranking back up to top of ladder. I didn't play recently so I can't say, but before the recent ban wave there were very few cheaters in my experience below 20k (4 in 400 games in my anecdotal experience).
      You can try faceit if you can bear the root level anticheat and SA ownership, but aside from that no solution except patience.
      Regular comp is not so bad, if people don't use microphone you can practice your radar awareness

  • @almightybogza
    @almightybogza 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Cheaters absolutely make them money. Nikita literally stated this on record even before the game was launched. He has said that hackers are profitable. The game had 900k new accounts in 2023 alone. There is no way most of those are legit players.
    Nikita has also said that you can "smash your face on a keyboard and make the game its easy" and just keep it in beta for 5 years. That is exactly what he has done.
    It would be stupid to not endorse cheaters when you need to pay to play the game. Its simply naive to say cheaters dont make them money when PEOPLE BUY MTX TO SUPPORT ANTICHEAT DEVELOPMENT which is something NIKITA stated will happen when he said cheaters are profitable because it makes players pay for better anticheat.
    There is no better anticheat, the situation is just as bad as ever, if you would play the game more you would understand especially on labs. Its hard to explain without many hours into the game but you can easily tell who is cheating after 3000 hours. Depending on when in the wipe the people that move especially on labs are all cheaters or streamers. very rarely its a random chad player.
    Its just sad and its sad that Nikita is doing this on purpose.

      If they can't figure out their server issues it's a them problem. It just shows that they are incompetent on top of being greedy and would rather tax the customer instead of hiring skilled developers or investing in a stack rework.
      The fact that they don't use elastic cloud servers in 2024 is a huge red flag, if they can't scale up it's because of their tech decisions. It's also the price to pay when you're in beta for 7 years, the technology gets obsolete and needs to be refactored
