Although your OCD/Scrupulosity demands absolute loyalty from you, it will not return the favor. It has no loyalty whatsoever; it only cares about your anxiety and your guilt.
This content is an absolute oasis of healing in what has been a long and torturous journey through a deep valley of despair. Thank you, Father. Im amazed and feel joy I didn't know existed, I can make it another day. ❤ Ave Maria
My problem with scrupulosity and ocd is worrying about objectively serious matter, so I rope myself in with saying that I HAVE to figure out if it is mortal sin to commit a certain action, because then I would be careless about informing myself. I am without spiritual direction. If you would pray I find an understanding confessor, I would be grateful. I want to be a better example of Christ's Love and understanding to my own daughter who suffers the same.
Thank you, Father. A really good one! You described the way our worries shift -- with never ending streams of NEW content to fuel our anxiety. Never heard it put like that before-- but you nailed it. Just knowing that -- and recognizing it's true -- you'd think we'd let the whole thing go as the farce that it is. Please pray we can.
Thank you so much. I appreciate it. You can donate by going to www.Patreon.com/Catholic OCD. That is the place where the videos first appear and it provides an opportunity for donations and support. Thank you for asking.
Thanks very much for sharing these consoling words and well-developed insights, Father. They are striking chords with me! Best wishes, and God bless you, Darragh (from Ireland).
I really needed this, Father. Thank you. I went to confession today, had about 2 hours of peace and contentment (all the while playing over my confession in my head) before memories of more previous, years-old unconfessed sins came storming in. This sounds really absurd, but this is now my 4th attempt at sin whack-a-mole. Surely I'll run out of things to "submit to the keys" eventually, I tell myself, but really I don't think this is true for anyone. We are all sinners, and have to trust in Christ's mercy. Trust can't exist EXCEPT in a state of uncertainty, and we keep chasing that certainty to relieve the anxiety which ultimately is a symptom of the OCD condition, as you say, and not an indicator of the presence of sin. Intellectually I get it, it's just very difficult. Thank you so much for your videos.
@@pkmr5284which part? I'm saying there's a difference between trust and knowledge. Trust necessitates some uncertainty otherwise it's a known absolute and there's no need for trust. Maybe I'm not articulating it well though.
@@PeteV80 ... certainty is what causes us to trust; uncertainty steers us away from trust; we OCDers are constantly looking for assurance/ certainty ... SO WE CAN TRUST and feel at peace. If you're uncertain, you're not going to feel at peace.
@@pkmr5284 Nobody has certainty. We with OCD chase after it for assurance but that's where trust and faith has to come in. I think we are dancing around the same thing from a slightly different perspective. Whether we are in a state of Grace or not can't be known with certainty, we can only trust we are with faith in God's mercy.
Hi Father, thanks for sharing your knowledge on the OCD topic and Scrupulosity. You speak about sitting with your feelings so I'm wondering about sitting with your thoughts. . ERP is Exposure and Response Prevention and is a treatment for OCD which would include sitting with your OCD thoughts and not passing judgement one way or the other to the thoughts. As a Catholic, is this allowed when the thoughts have to do with sinful actions...for example, thinking a blasphemous or unwanted sexual thought and instead of blocking it letting it sit there without pushing it away and not passing judgement on it? Feelings and thoughts are closely related with OCD and Scrupulosity it seems.
Thank you very much Fr for being back ! God must have heard the cries of the helpless that includes me in dealing with scrupulousity and OCD...Thank you Lord !! Pls let us know if you have in person group retreats ( in your retreat house) for topics or help on scrupulosity and OCD..this will be a great help!...also how can we donate to your channel..I really appreciate your ministry Fr.

You misstated your statement about trust.

Excellent.

Yes it is allowed and ERP therapy is considered to be a very effective therapy. Blessings
