Late comment, but I have to agree as Metalcore takes alot of Influences from many early metal bands and even some thrash metal bands and very early metalcore bands. I like to think the reason why metalcore has such good riffs, is because they are taking inspiration from some groove elements and some other elements.

This band has been one of my favorites for 12 years now. I remember thinking that "There is a Hell" was their best album. Some of their new stuff is a bit too pop for me but I still like it. I even liked Nihilist Blues. They never make the same album twice, yet their sound is always recognizable. Definitely a bunch of creative dudes. I also think their drummer is criminally underappreciated. He always finds the best beat for the occasion.
oh fun fact about chelsea smile (credit to that random dude in the chelsea smile comment section), the song is based off of this british punishment from the 1600s ish called (you guessed it) the "chelsea smile" where if someone's wife would keep secrets from their husbands (gore warning kinda) they would have their mouth cut (kinda like the joker) and depending on how severe the secret is they would also rip off their jaws sometimes. this led to the lyric "I've got a secret, it's on the tip of my tongue, it's on the back of my lungs, and I'm, I'm gin a keep it, I know something you don't know". like I said above i didn't find this, this was from some dood in the comments of the official video for chelsea smile I don't take credit for this lmao
Count Your Blessings came out just when I got my first electric guitar, and learning songs like Black And Blue had such a huge impact on my playing, it really gave me that skill boost I needed to improve my speed and technique. Ill always have a special place for that album, even though its their most disliked album for some reason... That album has to this day some of the coolest riffs Ive ever learned to be honest. So Im obviously not a fan of the newer stuff. Great video as always man! Hoping to see a Top 10 Sylosis riffs in the near future!
Definitely agree with you. I started playing guitar again and learning mostly count your blessings songs. And holy fuck they’re so much fun. I was at a friends house playing them on a rusty old acoustic and they thought it sounded cool as fuck playing Braille, Black & Blue, and Medusa

I'm 17 and joined when the amo era started (however I knew the band before, through songs like Throne and Don't Go), but everything after Count Your Blessings is awesome. CYB is still "okay" on my side, though I really like Off the Heezay.
Imo I enjoy every single Era of Bmth I loved the deathcore age (suicide season, count ur blessings ). I also love the heavy pop rock era(that's the spirit, amo-which is heavily under-rated and is criticized too often) but tbh the best Era was the metalcore (Sempiternal and There IS A Hell) honestly the 2 best metalcore albums I've ever heard among one of the GREATS, Oli's songwriting and beautifully executed vocals, Matt's drumming, Lee's riffs, the addition of cool electronic elements with Jordan as a keyboardist and Kean with the dope bass lines as always, the unique style and crossover with metal and thousands of genres between these 2 albums, just orgasmic

Nice riffs, and I love Lee's riffs in this band, but all these comments about 13 yo girls. I remember listening to CYB and Suicide Season when they came out, BMTH had hordes of 13 yo female fans back then, too. Wasn't that the backstory to the "After everything you put me through, I should've fuckin' pissed on you!" lyric, anyways. It's just that you're now older, and 13 yo girls interests have changed or it's a different 13 yo girl crowd. CYB was a great album, so was Sempiternal, aside from that, their other stuff isn't quite at the same quality IMO, but I find it funny all these people act like 50+% of BMTH fans being 13 yo girls is ever anything new.
I'm here just to reminisce the old good riffs and i can say that bmth matured so much in terms of chord progression and ways of breakdowns, damn my boys grow up too fast.
Lee Malia is such an underrated guitarist. Especially his Clean parts. And His Sound is great.
