Can't forget that the complete god Matt Bellamy who plays these riffs also plays them while singing flawlessly, running around, swinging the guitar around while 90% of the time not even looking at the guitar. The man isn't human I swear.

Saw them live and muse isnt even a top 5 favorite band before that and their live show was so amazing. I had a smile on my face the entire time like a little kid. Best concert ive ever seen and made me appreciate every ounce of their music so much more and now i find my self obsessively listening to their discography.
Matt Bellamy is #1 riff maker of his generation, almost every song has a killer riff just incredible

Josh Homme is godlike as well.
Don't forget he's a fully fledged composer too, making a 3 part concerto with over 15 different instruments... the mans a genius.

Matt Bellamy is one of the most unique guitarists to date, man, the stuff he comes up with is just insane and he's definitely one of my favourites

@@ashleyurbina1055 If you wanna play electric just go electric, I started with an acoustic and ended up frustrated I couldn't sound like the songs I was learning. Fun first, technical later. Tbh the only thing that an acoustic might help on is learning to make effective barre chords, that's about it.
I'm ashamed to say I've never listened to Muse but this riffs are brilliant, thank you for opening my ears.
You should listen approximately ALL Muse songs this is... You will discover an universe of good melodies
I think you’ll find Muse is a very awesome band, if concerts ever return to their former glory, definitely try and see Muse, one of, if not the best concert I’ve ever been to

I’m just gonna speak for everybody and say you forgot every muse song that has guitar in it. Almost every one of their songs has a killer riff and it’s nearly impossible to narrow it down to a top 10. This was a very well done video and the inclusion of unnatural selection was awesome. I feel like it’s a very overlooked song. Nice job man.

I have this video to thank for getting me into Muse. I had only ever heard Madness from the Second Law album and assumed that’s what all their songs sounded like. Heard these riffs, listened to all their music, and now they’re my absolute favorite of all time.
A lot of people are afraid to get into Muse because they have a false opinion about the style or the genre that Muse are..
Miracle Right! I love hearing them experiment with so many different styles and genres. It’s a nice break from the usual “same edgy song but in a different key and different words” that I see in a lot of other bands. They’re very creative and unafraid to explore their music styles, and I love it!

Muse riffs are pretty easy. The hard part is getting their tone right.
@@timmyturner5864 Yeah I can play almost all of their stuff but Matt's tone is a very difficult one to get right. It's right up there with Deron Miller (CKY) in terms of being in a 'sweet spot'.
I cant describe how much I love and appreciate MUSE in general, Matt is a god!! That talent and that voice oh wow.. best voice I have ever heard in my life

Muse are so brilliant in their versatility and will to experiment. Love them so much.
solid choices. I will always be biased towards Origin of Symmetry especially Citizen Erased. They even played it on my birthday which either was a cool and weird coincidence or our group with signs worked. One thing that is super underated is sure Matt is insanely good at writing solid rock riffs but the rest of the band have an amazing fundamental knowledge which allows them to bring out the guitar nicely. It's like a recipe. Knowing what to add and when really brings out the focus. Micro cuts is an amazing example where partway in that riff the bass joins in and the drums play rhythm and focuses on the accents of the main riff. Super talented trio who have the smarts as well as the chops. Hysteria, Psycho, Plug In Baby, Hysteria are all amazing examples of this.

Citizen Erased is such a massive riff. There's too much new stuff on this list. Also missed Knights of Cydonia, even The Small Print is better than half of these.
Glad to be seeing Drones getting some love for once. Perhaps their best album since Black Holes?

The Resistance is my fav album of theirs so I would definitely disagree. Drones however is still one heck of an album, especially the riffs

Assassin and Citizen Erased in particular, they tiptoe alt-metal territory.
I think we all know Assassin and Knights of Cydonia will go in every top-10, so why state the obvious (IMO, and would apply to Plug in baby and Hysteria too)? For example, we all talk about Hysteria for bass a lot, but theres this one B-side, Easily that could go in too, as Crying Shame is for guitar.
Could listen to these riffs all day. Only disappointment was that you didn’t do a top 20.

Geo Killer that’s what I was thinking, most likely wah pedal > slight distortion > flanger. Also he seems to be controlling the flanger’s fluctuation as it goes up and down during perfect timings. He might have pre-set the flanger for the song or he has a MIDI in control.
Sounds like a Zvex Wah Probe to me.
A little trick called "playing the song in the background"
Sebastian Elytron From which performance? I don't recognise the timings as anything used by the band themselves. Also you can clearly see his knee moving as it would if operating a pedal, whereas the knee remains still for the majority rest of the video.

As someone who strictly loves Metal and only really listens to the hardest of it like Mathcore and Tech Death, I seriously find Muse to be by far the best "rock pop" band ever. They smash any other mainstream semi popular band. Some of these riffs are metal as fuck!! Plug In Baby is actually hard af to learn
